  1. @Sandhu Of course, I just thought it was nice and some do not move in the face of all those challenges. I probably wouldn't.
  2. @PurpleTree It is difficult to be racist against oneself, but then if Uncle Clarence Thomas, Candace Owens, Tim Scott...et al, can do it, why oh why can't I.
  3. Don't tell me, you are a comedian in disguise?
  4. yes, I would tend to that because there is a big difference between social customs with ostensibly the more civilized being the more morally conscious. Problem is, it doesn't match. It is like the difference between Judaism and Christianity. Christianity was a manifestation of the concept of progressive revelation. It seems the right has not received the memo yet? Oh we having some fun now...I will one up your Celtic and Neanderthal (I've got both) but one of my direct ancestors is known as the "Inca Ice Maiden". The sacrifices were in most cases very sensitive and thoughtful. Read yo' history!
  5. @Sandhu Some social scientists have equated people willing to migrate as those predisposed to breaking through Darwinian filters. It is a flattering view of migrants and I think valid.
  6. @PurpleTree Oh dear me, ok, it is termed 'the warrior gene' in some scientific communities. It is known/hypothesized that it propagated through Europe during the Neolithic Age. Its spread outpaced natural selection by a considerable margin akin to an overnight development in genetic drift/mutation processes. It displaced the genetics of what I consider more benign creatures, such as any lingering Neanderthals, hunter-gatherers, farmers, and Celts (although there was some early admixture in those clans)
  7. This book was the first 'serious' book on the philosophy and science of genetics that I read. Before and after, I considered Dawkins a poopoohead. "The Selfish Gene" by Richard Dawkins. I read others later that led me down the path to the 'evil' gene. Incidentally, I see that a book was written with that title but I haven't read it because despite its popularity and supposed depth of philosophy it seemed silly to me.
  8. @What Am I My older brother once cautioned me to stay out of Mexico because 'they don't care who you are'. At the time, I took his advice and went to San Francisco instead... @PurpleTree I am talking about the 'evil' gene.
  9. @Jodistrict One of the things that always frustrated me was the math books. Mathematicians can't write and writers don't know mathematics. One that always incensed was the ubiquitous 'It therefore is obvious'. Damn, that p*ssed me off. I asked my Professor what was so obvious and he just laughed at me. "Theory of Automata"
  10. @1337 What I discovered about mathematics is that I created some deficits early on because of my recalcitrant personality and natural abilities. The less ability that you might have in a particular subject of math though, just requires more work to master it. It seemed to me that Trigonometry entails the ability to 'formulate mathematical proofs' where as, geometry, then calculus, especially 'Analytic geometry' was a brain teaser for me. I feel that I missed my window of opportunity to learn the basics of maths that required 'spatial reasoning' and 'abstract reasoning of the type' abilities. Don't despair though, there are many walks of study in a mathematical pursuit. Graph Theory (which I was the only one to finish a problem that the Professor quoted that what I had done was essentially formulate a graphical proof of the concept while loudly proclaiming that the problem was one where someone 'didn't need to know anything to solve. I hated that j*ckass. Discrete math/Combinatorics, Linear Algebra, Number Theory, etc. I had a professor suggest I take a Trigonometry course because if I could do that then I could do Calculus. He lied to me... I blew the scale in Trigonometry and still struggled through Analytic Geometry after a 2nd try (Calculus II). I did pretty well in Calculus I and III. I'll add that math in the real world is very simple when compared to what happens in school.
  11. @Jodistrict I can only speak for myself, but I would never blame Russia for the actions of its chief paranoid!
  12. @Reciprocality Interesting, the first thought that occurs to me is that the notion of nonduality comes into play. We could consider Einstein's Theories of Relativity and the nature of time, quantum physics' theories of Entanglement, Newton's theories of actions/reactions, and, of course, all of the philosophical notions of social connectedness. That's all I got. Maybe this could be an example of the separation: Existential fear is about something that does not exist, so in effect, it is something about nothing. Say whaaa'
  13. For sure, it is a manifestation of the 'evil' gene. Sick puppies they be. In that opinion, I will not relent!
  14. @What Am I The topic of Mexico can be interesting. No doubt they have serious problems. But what is the story? It's complex, one of the common refrains maintains that Mexican immigrants should stay home and fix their own state. Well, they have been fighting a revolution since the 1800's against foreign infiltration on the one hand, and if statistical reports are accurate most of the population in Mexico is already living in the U.S. Which is only fair because at least from the perspective of the Indigenous it was their continent to begin with.
  15. @gettoefl Unfortunately, the Trumpian journey is f*cked!
  16. Do not forget that it is also possible to know that you know...just an opinion.
  17. @What Am I Even Jesus metaphorically maintained there is a limit to turning cheeks. We all realize the butt will turn red after enough slapping. I think it was Kant who believed that one could watch one kill another without any sense of responsibility to intervene. I disagree, there is a point of practicality where the rubber hits the road and as human beings, we have to react.
  18. @Ishanga hmm, now that is self-actualization in raw form...
  19. @Fearey Well, if we want to look at recent developments from a little different perspective, I would not hesitate to say the Orange one has demonic coverage. It will play out... For Lews Therin: The Wheel Weaves what the Wheel Wills...
  20. Dating is a romantic social construct. Nature knows better. As for me, after my divorce, I concluded that I was fighting a losing battle finding an appropriate fit, so I just abandoned any pretense and focused on raising my daughter to not be like her mother. You are young and trying to find a way forward with what should be a natural process. Unfortunately, I cannot help in any way, shape, or form. If we are both on this thread in 30 years, I might be able to make some suggestions.
  21. I was going to post my opinion but I don't want you to feel I am targeting you. I clicked on what I thought was the area to post an open comment. The reason I am posting this is to clear the system...I hope
  22. I would investigate the background of the lady in question...She sounds rational but can we be sure there is no underlying agenda. I think you can trust anything that the right puts up is 99% fabrication... my statement is not conjecture, it is a universal invariant.
