When enlightenment is realized, there is no “you”. There is no achievement. There is nothing gained. There is nothing special about it at all. The realization of enlightenment is simply the realization that enlightenment is everything, and everywhere. And it has always been so. Things like achievements, godhood, specialness, and so on are simply things the ego dreams up. Enlightenment enables the vision to see through the dreams and illusions of the ego and realize “what is”. That's it really. To the ego, this all sounds rather boring. The ego wants to get something out of enlightenment. To get the golden goody. To be special, or better than everbody. Or to have some special knowledge that no one else knows. But that's not enlightenment at all. Do “you” still want enlightenment after hearing this? If so, then feel free to chase after it. I can assure you that enlightenment can run faster than you.

solipsism involves an individual. Specifically, that the finite mind of the individual is all that actually exists, and that other individuals are merely insentient, a-conscious “robots” of a sort. Non-duality, on the other hand is a different beast altogether. In non-duality the mind is not the source of consciousness, nor is it anything conscious in itself. It is regarded as insentient. Instead, the mind acts a sort of “mirror” in that it has the capacity to reflect consciousness. Just as the reflected face in a mirror is not conscious in itself, neither is the reflected consciousness. The difficulty with the reflected consciousness is that the vast majority of us do take it to be real and conscious within itself, the source of an actual individuality. This misunderstanding is what can lead to the idea of solipsism is the first place. Non duality teaches that consciousness is the only actual existence. This is obviously quite different from the understanding of the solipsist. Actual non- dual understanding has nothing to do with mind at all, just as the original face has nothing to do with the mirror at all. The mirror of the mind breeds seeming individuality, but the one consciousness is free of all its reflection in the mind. The consciousness of any one thing, is the one same consciousness of every other thing. This is quite different than the idea of the sole existence of one finite mind.
