Just always be nice, outgoing and give off friendly vibes. Say hi, smile, wave to EVERYONE you pass throughout your day. Start small talk (if appropriate) with everyone who you are forced to stand beside or a few minutes (like in a line, elevator, bus stop etc). Eventually you start noticing the different body language of those who are sexually attracted to you and eventually it will be someone you also find attractive. Then just ask if they have any plans on the weekend and if they say no, offer to do something. It's that easy. Everyone is lonely and everyone loves nice people talking to them for a bit. That's why we are on this forum for example, we are all bored and looking for interaction. Give that interaction to people that they crave.

Exactly, we have "don't drink and drive" awareness everywhere. We could do the same with tailgating.

If I was forced to run as a conservative I'd embrace values of mental toughness, hard work, fiscal responsibility, community, healthy food, strong families. I'd spin every policy to make it sound traditional, family oriented, and religious. For example, provide maternity and paternity leave on the value of "strong famililes". I'd reduce pollution so our farmers can make healthy food for our kids. I'd tackle corporate greed using traditional religious values. I'd help the poor "as Jesus would have". I'd tax the rich using quotes from the Bible. Etc. Trump flipped the script and campaigned on a lot of ideas the left is to. Anything is possible, including conscious conservativism.

This forum is awesome. Leo created a community where regular people can openly discuss important issues that make our lives better. Where else can you get this? It's like when Socrates gathered the youth in the town squares and discussed life with them. This forum is a small refuge from the depravity, misinformation, conspiracy theories, cheap entertainment, and celebrity gossip found elsewhere.

You're still bringing up small pockets of the internet that does talk about politics in a somewhat constructive way. The majority of people don't and distract themselves with surface level culture wars. They go by gut feel and they get there info from Facebook. The left obviously did something wrong to lose do badly and the opinion of serious political left thinkers (like the resources you mentioned above and others like Ezra Klein, and others) is that the left lost the narrative.

I think he ment that if you are unhappy then going meta is the best way to get happier. Perhaps lowering your consciousness would also make you happier in the short term but that would be counterproductive to Actualizing. Like sure being in a coma would make your problems go away but it's a less ideal method than consciously making your life better. Leo talks alot about levels of consciousness. If you think of consciousness like a scale with God at one end and an amoeba on the other which would you like to work towards being?

This forum isnt the mainstream left. This forum does conscious politics and does discuss important issues. The unconscious mainstream is lost in culture war while ignoring the major issues. Bernie was an example of a good populist leader who would have won.

I've heard some people recommend not getting married due to its many drawbacks such as it being expensive, it ties you down, you can only have sex with one person unless you cheat, you lose half your stuff if it doesn't work out? yet despite this alot people end up getting married anyway. Yes I'd confine my brother (temporarily) if he was about to mutilate himself. Of course effective social programs based on empathy is the best way. Medicare for all and gun control would also be good but seems to be hard to get in the US.

Yes I am friend. I vote left but on this one issue I believe a sheltered space, with food, water, health care, and no drugs is better than a free-for-all on the streets. Yes I agree the prisons should be better. Tent cities are an embarrassment to our country and that's a nonpartisan stance. The left has shown its incapable of doing anything so it's no surprise the strongman approach won out. I think doing something is better than nothing.

That's a funny comparison. I read somewhere that India only needed to unite to overthrow British rule. Before that there was no Indian national identity to take over Sri Lanka.

Yes the US is sliding into autocracy there is little debate about it. Trump is taking a play right out of Orbans book and he has praised Orban and other dictators repeatedly throughout the campaign and during his first presidency countless times. This is was expected but not this early into the presidency. Can't wait to see what the rest of these four years will look like. I will admit the tent cities are an embarrassment to North America and it's about time someone cleaned them up. It's a bipartisan issue, and even though I'm on the left, sending the homeless to prison is better than letting them do drugs on the street.
