You can see how long ago Leo was on the forum from his profile: https://www.actualized.org/forum/profile/1-leo-gura/ 1 hour ago

I've been hearing all my favorite internet-guru's and yogis talk about the imperative of consciously choosing one specific guru as your guru, and then focusing on that person's guru-ness (not the personality) during meditation. They talk about the absolute necessity of a lineage linking back to adiyogi, sort of like passing on the divine flame. You can't create a spark on your own, your need the help of an enlightened being. Otherwise, enlightenment and/or a kundalini awakening won't happen - and spiritual progress is halted. This is a bit of a huge topic - but I was hoping to get your guys' thoughts on this? I'm quite confused about so many sub-questions, and it's confusing me as to where to direct my meditation focus. What about all the people who report to have spontaneous kundalini awakenings? Who was their guru then? What exactly is initiation? Can you receive this through a book - like for instance, the Yoga Sutra, the Bible, etc. Can shiva himself be your guru? Or another deity? Can a person you have never met before (eg. you watch their videos on YouTube, or maybe who has passed) be your guru - or must the guru also consciously accept you? I've heard 'the star' is the guru - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bgm5UKnZnEU - I actually have seen a star like this (with an eye inside it though) during meditation - could I just accept this star as my guru? I'd love anyone's experiences of this topic

Well, this is getting into mysticism/religion - but allegedly by Shiva himself incarnating and teaching the 7 sages. Yea I agree, this is the huge danger - and for sure there are charlatans who will abuse this. The flip side is, so is many teachers who seem 100% authentic in other ways, hold this as fact, and they'll even say they don't care or even recommend themself as the guru. (eg. The Guru is a possbility - don't miss it (Rohit Arya)). Generally, when many mystics say the same thing, I think careful consideration on that point is required. Even Jesus has a quote similar to this topic, and the Buddhists too heavily emphasize the importance of lineage. That's true, but it's also true that a fire needs another flame (or a spark) to get it started. Just a metaphor, and might relate more to kundalini/fire than enlightenment - but interesting if you consider/believe that shaktipat exists. Thank you for the reply Leo, good to hear your executive summary on the topic I'd like to agree with you - it means I can focus on samadhi states rather than seeking the external world for 'my guru'.

I created a post asking for feedback for v1 of my website around 5 weeks ago, and I got some extremely useful information from you guys (shout outs to Time Traveler, Blaze 35, abrakamowse and agnosis)! Since then, I've addressed issues mainly related to increasing user friendliness and intuitive use. If anyone has a few minutes of free time, any feedback will be through-and-through greatly considered, as second perspectives are vital for this type of thing, especially since I don't have too much experience behind me. The website is called reviewedbyconsensus.com and it is ultimately a Q & A platform. What makes it different from other forum websites like Quora and Stackoverflow is that my website also has a wiki functionality (like on Wikipedia). This means that for questions where a consensus is formed, the users can create and update the verdict as they have found it to be. ~~ of course, for some questions there won't be a clear verdict, and in such cases the consensus/wiki will explain the major viewpoints of the forum users - also for small questions with only a few replies, there is no need to write up a wiki-consensus. The wiki also allows users to insert polls and rating bars, so that the website users can vote, and everyone can see the distribution of votes. Here are some examples of this in action, with pages hopefully also of interest to you guys Why Is There Something Rather Than Nothing in the Universe? (notice how the wiki at the top inside the gold border was made from the users' inputs) The Best Tips for Backpacking Through Europe? How to Perform Strong Determination Sits (check out the polls - in this case, I wrote that article in the wiki to start the thread, and from now on anyone can edit it to make it better) Review of Actualized.org (check out the polls and rating bar; already receiving 92% "Excellent resource, life changing" and a rating of 95% ~ good stuff Leo) What Are the Benefits of Using Psychedelics? (in this case, there have been forum replies, but the wiki has not been written - will do so soon) What Is the Better Alternative to the War on Drugs? (there has not been a clear consensus here yet, so no wiki has been compiled as of now for this question either) Any feedback at all would be greatly welcomed! Including if anything is confusing, artistic changes, technical issues you're having, and ideas for what pages to create next Anything at all My ultimate hope for this website is to give internet users a platform for reading unbiased reviews (articles like "Best backpacks for travel" are almost always biased towards one of their affiliates), and also my aim is to give readers who want a fast clear-cut answer the option to read a concise conclusion from the wiki for a question like "Best Things to Do and See In and Around Madrid?" (as opposed to having to read through multiple pages of forums, or having to read through all the introductions and backgrounds you usually find in blogs). ~ I hope there is a need out there for this vision

@quantum Thanks for that idea, I really like it! I've done something similar to that, and I reckon I'll add a hover colour change to most of my tables - there's something deeply satisfying about it @Emerald Wilkins Actually 'scepticism' is usually preferred outside the USA, thanks though, input is always welcome! - I'm sure there a few typos still lurking out there somewhere on the site
-
Cool, thanks for the advice!
-
Wow! Thanks for that very in depth feedback @Pelin - I really do appreciate the time you took and even an image! Those are exactly the type of things that can make all the difference, but which just didn't really occur to me. Great explanations as well so that a noob like me can understand the reasoning Now that you've brought it to my attention, I agree with pretty much all your points - I've spent the past while addressing them I've moved the plea for donations to the footer and to a drop down menu - you're right, that's not an appealing thing to see upon your first hit to the website - that's already improved the commenting rate! Yea the image wasn't great, I've written a small Mission section on the home page to replace it. I've also changed the font to Verdana - I think I'm going to continue playing around with the headers' fonts for a while, I'm not quite settled there yet I've also used your general advice of "modernise" to google some ideas, and I've implemented them - hopefully it looks somewhat better. I'm a bit disappointed it looks like a 90s website though ~ I was going for modern and sleek. I'm not too sure how to change it up though tbh, as minimalism is somewhat important to the design, and I prefer not having a sidebar. There is the logo still to do which will help, that's a work in progress atm. ~~~ ANY advice on modernising or aesthetics would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for all of that feedback quantum! I've got a few things to do in the morning, but I'm going to try see to those points before bed Yea, I really see what you mean by the answers looking badly-separated, and yes, the text should be moved around and changed a bit. It seems a very necessary improvement now that you've mentioned it; I'll play around with the answers section to make it more visually appealing and easier to read! -thanks The rating bar should allow anonymous voting! Dammit! I'm speculating it has stopped working due some sort of cacheing or optimization, I'll look into it - hopefully it's an easy fix. (Although eventually rating bars and the polls will eventually require a login once I encounter smart bots trying to manipulate things) Thanks again quantum for all the feedback - literally all of it was useful! Upvote x10! Edit: the rating bar should work now, it was the 'remove query strings' optimization causing it (hopefully that's all). If anyone does see it not working for them, please let me know

I don't think there's really a way to stop people writing fake or bad reviews, but if you can get your business/product reviewed on user-generated-reviews, that could help combat the lies - especially if the site has good web authority
-
I'd also agree there's a very strong similarity between your videos and Leo's - there's nothing wrong with using Actualized.org as a strong inspiration, but maybe try add your own unique ... something. I'm not sure what that would be, that's the hard part. I think it will be very hard to out-Leo Leo I just skimmed your spirituality video, and I heard you ask something to the likes of "find one aspect of life that spirituality doesn't impact and email me" - maybe you could make a video series giving examples of how spirituality could impact your life view on various topics (eg. how would most people's views change on crime, on parenting, on work, on what a fulfilling life is, why exercise, why donate or not....). Just a random blue-sky-thinking idea, but something like that hasn't already been covered by Leo. Are you a big fan of Leo? If you are, maybe watch some other speakers as well so that their styles can rub off on yours too - and then you could combine their styles in your own unique way. To get a wide range of speaking mannerism, I'd recommend checking out Elliot Hulse https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzh0WmhJ1VU Shinzen Young https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYSSf71Vo7w Eckhart Tolle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mpybTfz6rU The Diamond Net https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CicbvN32ugU<------ as an new and aspiring life coach, she is also covering a lot of similar things to Leo, but adding videos about OBE's and sleep paralysis could help attract a different crowd My last advice might be, with your accent it sounds like you speak another language too, why not create videos in that language as well/instead of? That could possibly help attract a new fan base, maybe to reach people that haven't been exposed to modern self-help like Leo teaches Just my 2 cents, good luck with your life purpose! You can only be doing the world good with your current path

Hi all, I'm hoping this falls under career/entrepreneurship well enough,, I have recently taken a big leap and decided to not renew my contract with previous employer, and instead go full out on trying to create my own independent income creating a website, which has a few novel features. After 6 months of teaching myself the necessary coding and creating the infrastructure needed, it is finally reaching a phase where it is usable, and now the nerves are coming through as the idea will be put to test in the harsh, uncaring world of the marketplace Leo's videos on business has made me very anxious I was hoping to ask you guys a two part question 1) The idea of the website is to combine aspects of a wiki and aspects of a forum (I won't say too much more as the process should be spontaneous). The first few articles I have started have been on topics that I find interesting, and one of them included a "Review of Actualized.org", and another Review was on Leo's Life Purpose Course (I love Leo's top-quality content, so I'm sure the forums will say positive things too, hopefully the pages could maybe help promote Leo's Life Purpose Course ). The name of the website is "ReviewedByConsensus.com", and as the name suggests, the idea is for people to use the forums naturally, and from what is said in the forum a "Consensus" is written, which should mention all major perspectives which feature in the forum. So far for the two pages I mentioned about Actualized.org, I have created all the content myself, but the idea is to have more opinions than my just own! So if anyone does care to mention any thoughts they have relating to Actualized.org or the Ultimate Life Purpose Course (especially if anyone has actually purchased it!), that would be so greatly appreciated! I think it would be a good test run of the general system, and I'll update the "Consensus" to agree with what you guys say -- The forum section over there does not require registering to use so as make it easy for everyone to access, although unfortunately to do sub-threaded-replies doesn't work for Anons due to a software limitation atm ---- so to sum up, not really a question I guess, more asking for help to test out my idea so that I can see if the "Forum Section" at the website works as intended. 2) I've provided two links below, any feedback on the website would be appreciated if you do spend any time on the website - that would be HUGELY appreciated (hopefully nothing too harsh comes along, but I'd rather hear the harsh truth than be oblivious to it). Seriously, any feedback at all, about the theming, ease-of-use, technical aspects... anything (except maybe that I need more content, I am in the process of doing that, as well as general polishing) Peace be with everyone, I'm really nervous about this risky venture, wish me good luck Here are the links: Review of Actualized.org Review of Actualized.org's Ultimate Life Purpose Course

Thanks for all the support, it's helping me push on! In terms of 1), I already have a capability sort of like that, (which is applicable for some, but not all pages), you can see here if anyone is interested: How to Have Your First Lucid Dream. It's not the most elegant of solutions, but with my current resources it's the best I can do, and I reckon it gets the job done. If you have any thoughts on it I'd be keen to hear. I'm thinking it might get crowded with too many options, so I think putting them in expanding tables as I've done a few other places might be a good alternative for that. For 2), you could be right, but I really hope not! My whole website has been built with it as a wiki in mind, so I don't think I could really change it apart from starting a new project (thanks for your thoughts though). And thanks for telling me about consumerreports.org, they do something similar, and I got at least some inspiration from there I've already received more feedback than I thought I would, thanks everyone!!!! But once again if anyone has more feedback at all, I'm all ears

Thanks for some kind words! In terms of income, I was hoping to use affiliate links to websites related to a particular page (such as nootropic suppliers on any nootropic pages for instance), but I'd have to expand into other topics other than meditation and self-improvement at some point (and possibly Google Adsense as well) - If anyone has other ideas, I'd be keen to hear it out! however, I wouldn't consider paid membership or sponsored reviews. I think I will continue to create some pages on meditation in the near-moderate future if you (and TT and Blaze) think there's a demand there to be fulfilled, if nothing else I enjoy creating useful content on that topic Before I started this project, I had a little bit of practice fiddling around with my computer, and I also took two units in uni Thanks again for all the input so far!! and again, any more would be appreciated; I feel like the input so far has already helped me a lot
-
Thanks for the input Blaze and TT, I'll keep your points in mind, and I've tried to incorporate them into my next page on doing strong determination sits -- hopefully it doesn't look empty, there are a few statistics people can engage on, and I've focused on making the content higher quality. I do think this page is of much better quality compared to the previous ones, I should revisit those some time (although they aren't in a promising niche). It seems like the next few weeks will be looking for niche articles to write, writing them, and learning, and hopefully the traffic builds up over time! Any more input would of course be much appreciated
-
What the website is trying to accomplish is basically to have a forum or forums discussing a particular topic, (such as, people's thoughts on the Ultimate Life Purpose Course, and then from what everyone says in the forums, all the major trains of thought can be summarised in a Wikipedia style manner at the top Yea, that's a good idea about trying to put some statistics to it, were you thinking of something like the Review of the Ultimate Life Purpose Course page (link in the original post, I can't post it here for some reason)? After an edit I just made, there's now a place to write your subjective opinion in the forum, rate from 0 - 100, and I just added a poll too (the poll could be used more flexibly on other pages perhaps). Is there anything you would change if you were I? What it will need though is people to rate the course!! Yea I taught myself some coding first, but I've still been learning all the time so far! Well, my first focus was to get the website started and ranking in some searches, but I was thinking of adding page specific affiliate links on pages where it would be relevant (eg. on a nootropic discussing page) once I reach that stage. Thanks for the other info and feedback, much appreciated and I'll definitely carry them forward! Definitely new thoughts to swirl around in my head tonight!!
-
I do not disagree with your first point, true enough Good point about finding niches where "there are only product owners reviews available disguised as real peoples reviews", that would work really with what I'm going for. I'll check that out for some ideas Yea, and I think I really see what you mean by "empty", I'll do some major formatting to make it feel more article-like and visually appealing Just to save some space, I won't post all 10 links here, but they're all immediately visible on the home page: ReviewedByConsensus.com Keep in mind, those ones will also look very empty at the moment, they were more starting point for a conversation to start-up
-
Thanks for taking the time to check it out TT. Yup, I agree it's pretty empty, I'm just trying to get a proof of concept / feedback with this one example -- I'm sure I have a lot more tweaks to make, and don't want to be making those only after having written 50+ more pages. And yup you're right, niche competition is a big deal (my first 10 or so pages about lucid dreaming, nootropics were a big bomb because there is so much competition), but "Review for Actualized.org" and the ULPC is actually a nice little niche to get started I reckon Thanks again TT, I always appreciate someone taking out time from their day, and all good points. Any more feedback would be greatly appreciated! PS I added a sentence to first question at the end, does it make sense now?

I probably have more of an evolution-influenced perspective, but I think the fossil record has shown the murder rate among humans to be very high for pretty as much as long as we existed, so if that^ was the case, then I think it was only so for a proportion of the population or to put it another way, our natural state seems to have always been more like violent chimps than peace-loving hippie bonobos
-
Well, I know drug use are generally considered bad (just generally and by Actualized.org), but I have received relatively significant insights when taking Marijuana and then doing a "Do Nothing" sit for an hour so. Long term use definitely has side-effects, and I would NOT recommend doing it everyday, but for me there is a definite increase in imagination and being able to see situations in a new light. Maybe if you live in a legal state in the USA you could try this, but if it's illegal where you live, obviously don't even consider it!
-
I've heard that affiliate programs can be quite profitable, but the downside seems to be that you'd need to invest some serious time upfront with research, trial-and-error, and actually writing the content before seeing much of an income
-
I know generally drugs are not in favour here in the Actualized.org community, but do you guys think Nootropics is the exception? Nootropics is a drug, but from my experience all it does, pretty much, is reduce brain fatigue. If it's a tool to increase productivity, why not right? I have just tried phenypiracetam a few times, and that's it. Are there any long time users who have found smart drugs to be a negative influence on their path of actualization?

Hi everyone, I just had some questions on Leo's most recent video "The Enlightened Self - A Description Of Your Existential Nature." I'd love to hear any ideas, and any points I make I would love to be proved wrong in! First up, how can we say that we are the "nothingness"? I can perhaps understand there is something outside what I can ever experience, but I would say that I am still experience. I reckon (or reckoned before the video at least) that experience is derived from the "nothingness", but how can someone say, "I am the nothingness". Are we not a small derivative part of the "nothingness"? It seems to me like an ant saying "I am the colony" when instead he is a small part of the colony (which consists of other ants, but also the eggs, also the ground, also the tunnels, etc). I would perhaps argue that there is more to us than our experience sure, and this is almost certainly outside time, but I wouldn't say it is accurate to call ourselves "it" - but instead we are a result of "it". When I die, surely I am dead, and the universe just continues on without me entirely? No part of me, not even my "true self" can survive a gun shot to the brain right? As another example, when I am doing work and I am in a state of flow, "I" do not exist for hours and there is no consciousness as such - but whatever does exist there will end after a gunshot to the head right; that would suggest the "true self" still exists in the brain? And the last example here, if someone is meditating and in a TOTAL state of enlightenment, would he remain after a gunshot to the head? Or would that "nothingness" and the "true self" still exist? [Sorry for the gun shot to the head example the whole time, but it's useful in this thought experiment] Second, why the choice of the word "nothingness"? Words are all about definitions, and isn't nothingness by definition nothing and non existant (non existant from any perspective)? Wouldn't a better choice of words be a "singularity" (a point outside space and time) or the "no concept" (outside concepts)? Does anyone know any other words or phrases that you prefer? Third, why do people who are people who experienced enlightenment so sure they are correct? Why do they think that their new insight isn't just another illusion? Or if not an illusion, isn't the experience still in the mind? Or is the enlightenment "experience" actually escaping experience and the brain itself, and thus totally outside the brain? Would a MRI of the brain for instance show the enlightenment experience, or does the whole process of enlightenment actually occur outside the neurochemistry of the brain? Last up I would actually like to say I found the huge similarities to what Leo was saying with quantum physics hugely impressive. The below channel on YouTube attempts to provide a visualization of it. If anyone has a few spare hours it's very interesting. There are themes of the singularity = 0 = infinity, deeper levels of reality, and the ultimate illusion of our lives. In my interpretation though, it would suggest we are fundamentally trapped in our existance of 3D snapshots of a 4D spacetime worldline, and we are not the singularity as such, but rather we are a derivative of it.
