Ishanga replied to r0ckyreed's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@r0ckyreed First define "Meditation", in Yogic science there are many forms of Sadhana or Spiritual practice, here in the West when one says Meditation, most are thinking cross legged sitting, back straight, eyes closed, slow breathing, but from outside looking at someone doing this, many things can be going on with this person, maybe they are just sleeping while sitting upright! Second, any Guru or Spiritual guide will not tell someone today to just sit somewhere with eyes closed and doing no activity for all of their time during the day, this would be the same as telling someone to stop breathing, it just won't work in today's world,,very few ppl can do this sort of sadhana, but they can incorporate a bit of it in their daily routine, just sitting and observing thoughts, being mindful for 15-30 min a day can get one started on the basics, but there are much more complex and sophisticated methods and techniques as well that don't require all day sitting, there are moving methods, sitting methods, doing and none doing methods, lying down methods and contemplation methods,, as well one can make there work and everyday activity a part of their Sadhana, even brushing Your teeth can be a sadhana of sorts if you want it too be, lots of this is about Presence and Intensity... -

Your 2nd paragraph is more true imo, the first one about "Accepting Self", what is accepting what? Sadhguru talks about this in reference to Loving thy self, what is loving what, if You don't recognize that any sort of self judgement in this way, whether it is loving self, accepting self, respecting self, happy with self, sad/mad/angry with self is disempowering and Egoic in nature, then I don't know what it is your doing on the Spiritual path, its obvious and it is not the highest teaching... The 2nd paragraph is more true, in essence and foundational is to know the existence is setup perfect for us to have and utilize and enjoy, not in the way we are doing it now by using it and exploiting, but by just appreciating it and being grateful for what it provides and for what it is in and of itself, the most complex thing/non thing that has ever been to exist or thought of... -
I would agree totally with Your assessment here, well said... Balance is about stability, once that is established bigger things can happen, this is the problem with ppl doing drug and psycedelics without this stability/balance already established, if its not then one will go into all sorts of delusions, which at times can be good, it can get one out of the circle or loop they maybe trapped in, but for many it just creates another loop which binds them into another trap... We are really blessed to be Human Beings, I discovered when doing serious Martial Arts training, that there are secrets to how the body can be trained and then move in a particular way that produces very effective and deceptive results, a normal person looking at how the method of training works would think it is foolish and not useful, but they just can't see since they are not involved or educated on it, in martial arts Tai Chi is very advanced in this case, one of the most advanced Martial Arts on Earth, but it takes years and years of dedicated daily practice to gain mastery of it, its the same with Yoga Asanas, if you dedicate your time too it, then what may seem like a Miracle to many will be your everyday experience and ability!!

@Anon212 Good Report, I've done the 1st two programs, Inner Engineering online and in person with Sadhguru and Bahava Spanda with him too, plus I went to another Yoga program get together with him at the iii ashram, BSP didn't do much for me personally but lots of ppl there got plenty out of it, the IE program and Shambhavi MM is awesome... Of course it takes work, there's a ton of karma to work off and get beyond and too stop creating more karma is key as well, its consistent practice that does the trick,, I have a colleague in Martial Arts, Adam Chan, I posted some of his vids on Daoism, he was on Death's door and started 1st a 2hr a day practice the worked up to 4hrs a day of practice and he went very high level into it within 3yrs, that's what it takes, if you like Your life you won't do this sort of thing, you have to really be into it... And with everything the ppl put too much emphasize on the person (Sadhguru) and not the practice, it just shows their unconsciousness, its not about him, its about You and how much transformation happens within You, thats it!!! Its just that for me Sadhguru explains Truth and Reality like no one I have heard or read before, and I've read/heard most of them, he's awesome at that... Ppl just get jealous and envious that's all... -

He's stating his understanding of Yogic cosmology, I don't know either way, but does anyone else know either way, does any scientist know for a fact what was there before this universe and what will be there after this universe dies??? Plus he doesn't state to be a "scientist" your putting words in his mouth, he states to know the Yogic science via his own experience within himself, that is his claim, the problem is it puts one in a place to either believe or disbelieve but there is a third choice to do neither, and just explore for yourself within yourself to find truth...again he is stating this in front of a western cosmologist, I didn't see him claim to him that he is doesn't know what he is talking about, he just states that is new information for him and shows an interest in yogic cosmology... Of all the interactions with scientist that Sadhguru has had, there seems to be a good sharing of information btwn the two (except with Prof Plinker who's a staunch materialist) and relatively seem to be of similar understanding off things on a relative basis, since Sadhguru is not a trained or educated scientist in any field so he does not have the exact expertise or language that these other scientist have in whatever field they are expert in... -

Of course, there is no individuality, no body or mind when in the Transcendent dimension so agreed, but this is like saying life is better in heaven or some other realm, how do you know that this is not that place and your making a hell out of it? Ask that question to yourself, maybe we are already in that transcendent place and still making a mess out of it, as they say even when the body dies, there is still some feeling, whatever you were feeling at the moment of death is amplified in the afterlife very much so, that is why ppl should not fear bodily death, if they do they will feel that fear after passing over... -

He said that there were 83 Universes in the past, and that this one is the 84th, and the remnants of the past ones, for some of them are still present and can be accessed, I'm not into this stuff but there is a cosmologist right there so why would he embarrass himself in front of him on purpose..I just posted a bunch of videos with him talking with scientist, they seem to think what he is saying as legit, are they lying??? -

@AtmanIsBrahman Whats going to happen next is your going to accuse me of being a fanboy and idolization and therefore without any credibility, but that is not the truth, I'm more researcher than anything, and I've done his programs, they are work effectively, and that is what really counts, not what he says or does... Most Spiritual teachers today, including the one that create4d this forum, offer really no programs/methods, just teachings, intellectualizations and beliefs systems, which everybody already has, at least with SJV he offers much more than that... -

Sadhguru answers this here brilliantly.. Time is basic, because there is Time first, space appears as an illusion, its only because you have Form and a Body that you perceive space, without those two things, then there is no space, and if You create a distance btwn what is You and Not You (Body/Mind) then time is not there either.. Fundamentally, there is no past or future, only Memory(past) and Imagination (future) all that really Exists is Present Moment NOW, previous Now's become memory immediately and future never has existed only in your mind via imagination!! All you can do is Accept Now as it is, Respond to Now as it is, because if You don't then the past/memory will rule You, if You do then Your Open to what may happen next...all of this is based on how well Your Bliss is established within You, that appears in the NOW.. As well Mind is past/future orientated, via the memory/imagination complex, and most everyone today is Mind Identified, but You are not the Mind or Body, so its an identification problem too.. -

I would say he "chooses" to use the Indian or Hindu culture as a representation of sorts, I've studied most al of his videos, he says many times he doesn't identify with India or anything else in that matter, but he has to wear something right? He also designs all of his clothing and I think he wants to keep parts of that culture, the way the make the cloths and the material (its a sort of art form in india, very complex and sophisticated) alive and vibrant as it is dying from what he says... What is closed mindedness anyways? I think from his perception he sees things in many different ways, and of course being as public as he is sooner or later he is going to have to give an opinion of sorts on current events, so if you don't agree with it is that then considered closemindedness? As for his wife, you really think he would have gotten this far if he did it, and his daugher would have anything to do with him? When his wife did Mahasamahdi he was not near the popularity he is today, the Dylanalinga was not yet completed and he wasn't advertising or travelling and promoting like he is now, so he was not even known very much, so to say he had connections back then with government is dumb, local ppl were after him for setting up the ashram and such so he would not have gotten away with it if that was the case... They have accused him of most everything, he talks about it often... Again once as I have said before, Once You start to do BIG THINGS in this world, enemies will rise up against You in strong and varied ways, because those enemies have lots to lose, they don't want anything to change because they make huge profits off of it, the small group of Elites, while the rest of us slave away and work daily to just get by... -

No.. Without a stable foundation established first You will end up like anyone doing psychedelics, unprepared on many levels for what You are about to experience, same with mystical experiences... I think a huge problem is that ppl are looking too far ahead down the path, they have read too much about higher up experiences and want that first without the preparatory stages well established within them first taken up, its like trying to run before learning how to stand and maintain balance... First establish Peacefulness within Yourself, no matter what is going on, then go from there, don't be concerned with Mystical Experiences and having deep insights without this being set up first, ppl discount basic experiences for grander ones but don't realize that the basic experiences are what Life is about! -

Why would You equate being Human with Suffering? Why not equate being Human with Love, Compassion, Creativity, Passion, Intelligence and a million other things? Only those that have no idea of what it means to be Human would say that to be Human is too Suffer... To Be Human means two things, first You have almost unlimited Potential, Second You have access to Free Will and determination of Your destiny in Life, whether or not You choose to exercise these two is up to You! -

I think its no different than any other problem, like illiteracy we just established institutions and schools, and within 100 yrs we went from almost no one being literate to everyone being literate, its the same here, just change things in our society and culture, the way we are learning is intellect based, intellect divides and separates, we have to change that way of learning and knowing which can be done, and if that doesn't ppl need to search for the information and methods that are already available to do it, lots of ppl sharing nowadays online... It just a matter of wanting to know, and dropping belief systems and ideological identifications, which rules ppl's mind today.. -

@Javfly33 I think again we have to make a distinction between Pain and Suffering, Pain is needed in life, mostly on the physical end of things, without physical pain most would destroy their bodies before 30 for the sake of fashion, its good for our survival in the beginning of life, mental pain is good is small ways it brings awareness of the different thought patterns that can come up..But Suffering is totally from the Mind, its reliving the pain over and over again, that is compulsiveness not Consciousness.. We can have a society without all this Suffering in so many ways going on, we will never eliminate Pain and we shouldn't but there is a difference btwn the two... -

All there is is YOU, everything in the end is Subjective Experience, but as a Human Being You can Experience this as "I am completely separate and individual" or "I am everything, I am a piece of Life, I am creation and creator"... Of course as a Human I can only perceive and understand and experience this as a Human, I can relate and empathize with other forms of life, but in my estimation Humans Suffer the most since we have the most capability Mentally and Emotionally, by that I mean our possibility in both areas are higher than other life forms, i think in their case when the baby cub or deer gets eaten by the larger predatory animal they don't suffer it, they feel pain but the suffering is not near what we has Humans have to deal with.. Yes, Human existence since day one has been more about Suffering, War, Strife, Loss, and such than anything else, that is the point of Spirituality and what it is here for, for us to realize we can rise about these things, work together as one unit as well as individuals and be more harmonious with each other and life itself, Suffering in this case will stop all of that, Suffering will not allow any of that to happen since most ppl get stuck in it with no way out, Peace and Bliss on the other hand are the way out, the stable foundation upon which one can stand upon and go further in Life than they thought they could... Just look at Leo's latest video, I watched some of it, he mentioned again that during his break he went thru allot of suffering, and it shows in this latest video where he talks about his mistakes and taking ppl for granted and so forth, he has recently mentioned his focus is on "Understanding Consciousness", I think that if he focused more on creating a stable base of finding Peace and Bliss first, this would be more productive, yes I can realize I made some mistakes and do so Blissfully rather than suffering it and having to take a year off to process it..,he seems now to be in a place of not really knowing what to do imo... -

Umm from my research most meditators are more Happy and Stress free than non meditators, and in my experience most leaders in Eastern Spirituality are more happy and ecstatic lol.. The goal is to not those things, Bliss and Happiness are not the goals of Spirituality, they are by products of Being very Aware and Conscious, being Unaware/Unconscious leads to more suffering in my experience.. -
Ishanga replied to Breakingthewall's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
I would say Pain is necessary for most ppl that lack Clarity, which is a by product of being Highly Conscious, Pain in a physical, mental and emotional way, whether it is breaking a leg, losing a life partner, or realizing a belief you had is not true, that may cause pain, that should cause you to reflect and adjust the direction of Your life, that is why pain is there, but suffering is the repeated experience of pain without the thing that happend happen, it is living in the past and becoming Wounded by it, not Wise, being Wounded is Unconscious action, becoming Wise is Conscious action and leads You to more Clarity in life and how to make it more Empowering. Either You live compulsively, Unconsciously or by Accident which will more than likely lead to more Suffering or you live Consciously, with Clarity and live via Peacefulness and Bliss, that is our choice here as Human Beings, we have that choice to make for ourselves!! -
Ishanga replied to Breakingthewall's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Yes, but that is not what ppl are suffering, People are suffering going to school, being in relationships, having success and Money and Fame, they suffering their health, their day to day life of opportunity...Its okay to suffer when the romans are selling your family to a brothel and whips are out, okay I get that, but don't suffer what is empowering and healthy which is the case for the most part in people's lives, that is living by Accident, which means there is a lack of Consciousness in place, when Consciousness is in place you'll see at the Minimum Peace is the natural experience of life, You know You are far from Truth and Consciousness when Suffering is still in your life, pain will happen, suffering will not.. -
Ishanga replied to Breakingthewall's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Life is about Possibility and Potential, as Human Beings we have the most capability in these areas of Possibility/Potential, one can be super Blissed out or Suffering immensely, that is the possibility, one can choose either or, or one can become one with nature and find out what is the natural occurence, Suffering or Bliss? Being Human decide what You want to feel and experience, don't live by accident, one day Blissed out, one Day Suffering, this is no good, it puts you on a zig zag trajectory, Suffering is Life defeating, disempowering for Us Humans, Bliss is Life Empowering, that is all, make the choice...
