  1. I tried it, it worked unbelievably well for me, it's just hard to stick to. If I was dealing with the kind of crippling health problems a lot of people claim it fixed for them, it wouldn't be hard to maintain. But mine were of a lesser degree of shittiness. It did help me pin down exactly what was causing some of my issues though, specifically dairy and brassicas vegetables, which I've left out of my diet permanently since then.
  2. I have a kid and I can relate. As already mentioned, before they wake up, nap time, and after they get to bed are your golden opportunities. Also, I got a really high quality set of 3M ear muffs that reduce sound by 31db that help a ton. I don't know if you have a significant other, but my wife and I will often take turns meditating out in the garage with the ear muffs where we won't be disturbed while the other partner manages the little one. Sorry that's all I got. I don't think one can consider "meditation" with kids climbing on them and being crazy around them actual meditation. Maybe you can if you're much better at it than me, but I definitely can't.
  3. I listened to some of his stuff over the past few days after finding this thread. In one video he was talking about the different vibrational rates of different places and people (I'm not 100% sure how he's testing this or if the method is legit?) and he mentioned something that really rang true to me. He said the vibrational rates of the world's great cathedrals vibrate the highest of any places on earth. I got to visit Europe 2 summers ago and found myself extremely awe struck upon entering some cathedrals even though I had no interest in visiting them, I was dragged there by family. I've had an aversion to anything Christian for at least a decade after being raised Southern Baptist. Needless to say I don't hold as tightly to that aversion as I did before the cathedral incidences.
  4. 2. My wife and one of my best friends. I've sent countless Leo videos to other people but I rarely hear anything back, and when I do, it's some kind of complaint about the length, how boring it is, how they already know everything he's saying, etc, etc.
  5. Literally nothing about this interview went the way my preconceived notions of Charles Koch would have dictated it'd go. You'd think he just finished watching Leo's Conscious Politics series before going on the air lol. Topics include self actualization, corporate corruption, social change to uplift the poor & down trodden, criminal justice reform, non-partisanship, his organization standtogether.org that gives grants to "social entrepreneurs", etc, etc. Give it a listen and let me know what you think. I don't want to make him out to be an ultra-progressive but this interview radically changed my view of him based on what I thought I knew going into it. https://tim.blog/2019/08/11/charles-koch/ Here's the "about us" section from his Stand Together site. "Together, our North Star is a world where people from all walks of life knock down barriers, so everyone can realize their unique potential and contribute to the lives of others. It’s a big goal that guides everything we do. We know we can’t achieve it on our own. And starting today, we’re excited to announce that our philanthropic community will now be known as Stand Together. This encompasses all of our efforts to improve education, business, communities, and government policy. In many ways, this new name already expresses who we are. Today, we stand together with the people leading over 140 community organizations fighting poverty, more than 700 of the country’s most effective business and philanthropic leaders, over 1,000 professors at 350 universities, tens of thousands of K-12 teachers, and millions of grassroots activists across the country who wake up every day to help people improve their lives. But this new name also marks a new chapter—and a new call to action. We live in a period of unprecedented progress—economic, social, technological—but not everyone has shared in that progress. While many people have gotten ahead, too many people are falling behind. Our charge is clear: we must stand together to help every person rise. This requires that we do much more—helping social entrepreneurs increase their effectiveness by orders of magnitude. It means living by the lessons we’ve learned from our own experience, from that of our partners, and from movements throughout history that have benefitted millions of people: Empower those closest to the problems, to help solve them. Progress comes when millions of people get engaged: bottom up, not top down. It’s the only way. Unite with anyone, despite our differences, to unleash the potential in everyone. We now believe, more than ever, that this growing and diverse community of partners can help bring about a better country for everybody. We invite anyone who shares our optimism for the future and our determination to help every person rise, to join us—to Stand Together."
  6. Leo mentioned using an EEG meditation device in his latest video which compelled me to research them. It seems like Muse is the most popular one. Does anyone know if this is what Leo is using or have any personal experience with a device like this? Thoughts?
  7. I know he addressed it a little in the recent "what is God" episode but I know he's discussed it in more detail in a past, or multiple, past episodes. Does anyone remember what one of those episodes might be? I was trying to explain it to my wife - the pre-rational and rational parts are easy, the transrational is less straight forward to explain. Thanks!
  8. That one appears to be about a model of pre-conventional, conventional, post-conventional, and transcendent morality. What I was looking for is more of a model of a person's view of reality or metaphysics that goes pre-rational (fundamentalist religious person), rational (atheist/scientist), and Trans-rational (Leo and 100 other teachers we all follow). I appreciate you replying though! I'll just let her listen to the excerpt on it from the "what is God" video.
  9. I think he's achieved some level of enlightenment even if he won't claim it. I'd much prefer that over so many I see who ARE claiming "enlightenment" and don't appear to be. I believe he talked about enlightenment being a process, and that he's further along in that process than he was before he went to India, but that he's nowhere near the end of it.
  10. Since we're on the topic of cults right now I thought I'd mention this podcast series I listened to recently about one woman's indoctrination into, participation in, and escape from the cult NXIVM (Nexium). This is the cult that Allison Mack (actress from Smallville) was/is in and is now being prosecuted for sex trafficking and forced labor. It fits very nicely with Leo's latest video. I really enjoyed it. Maybe you will too. Original NYT article that broke the whole thing open https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/30/magazine/sex-cult-empowerment-nxivm-keith-raniere.html Actual podcast link. Its season 1. You can also obviously get it anywhere you normally listen to podcasts, Itunes, Stitcher, etc. https://www.cbc.ca/radio/podcasts/current-affairs-information/uncover/
  11. Yeah I listened to Megan Phelps Roper on both Joe Rogan and Sam Harris's shows. Her situation is a little different in that she was literally born into it though.
  12. I've never read any of it, I just know she's very popular amongst Libertarians.
  13. I tried it but could only stick to it strictly for about a month. It's not an easy diet to follow. Well, in some sense it's extremely easy, in another it's very difficult. I did see great benefit from it in the short term though. Can't speak to its long-term effects obviously though.
  14. I would say not this specific instance, but I can definitely think of other similar instances in which that did happen like stopping drinking every day & quitting benzos. I can also see points in my life where picking up good habits and being disciplined with them snowballed into even more good habits.
  15. I dipped Copenhagen for like 20yrs. I quit by chewing gum. Not even nicotine gum, just regular. Every time I felt I wanted a dip I put a piece of gum in my mouth. Simple as that. After a while I didn't need the gum as much until eventually I didn't need it at all.
  16. Do you follow Aubrey Marcus at all? He has a lot of good content revolving around open relationships because he's in one. He even released an "open relationship Field Manual" a while back. I tried to upload it for you here but the file size is too large. You can get it here though. The podcasts between him and his fiance are worthwhile too IMO. https://www.aubreymarcus.com/blogs/aubrey-marcus/tagged/relationship
  17. IMHO the way to get the most out of any psychedelic in a spiritual sense is to take it in nature. It's easier to realize your unity with everything when you're surrounded by trees, grass, dirt, wind, water, birds, squirrels, etc than if you're holed up in a cramped apartment.
  18. Travel to many diverse and interesting countries/cultures.
  19. This is coming from a guy with very little knowledge of your culture so forgive me if some of these suggestions are not possible, dangerous, idiotic, etc, based on your surroundings. Stop participating in religious activities. Focus more on developing yourself and your future and less on the good of the collective. Become as scientifically literate as possible. Focus on financial gain rather than gain in an imaginary afterlife. Try to get a girlfriend and/or make friends who are moving into stage orange. Actively try to be mindful when blue values are popping up in your mind/actions and question their source and legitimacy. Possibly move to an area with more orange like your capital city perhaps or even a richer country. Lastly, don't get yourself killed trying to push the boundaries too hard.
  20. I find it to be a massive benefit at times in my life and a distraction at others. The key is to be in tune with why you're using it and make sure it's having the desired effects, not just decide it's "good" and now use it every day mindlessly, or "bad" and disavow it altogether.
  21. Dont know if this has been mentioned already but cooking your food in a cast iron Skillet will transfer some iron into your food and therefore into your body. https://www.google.com/search?q=cooking+in+cast+iron+skillet+for+iron&oq=cast+iron+Skillet+cooking+for+iron&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0.14007j0j7&client=ms-android-verizon&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8
  22. Non-violent communication by Marshall Rosenberg
  23. This seems like the kind of thing that would have already been posted here but I searched and didn't find it. This is a Zen master who has some affiliation with Ken WIlber discussing Jordan Peterson, the Shadow, and spiral dymanics with Rebel Wisdom. If it's already been posted before a Mod or Leo can delete this. I just thought it was fitting material for this section.
  24. I can personally testify to this. I'm sure it has everything to do with the foods I removed and not the ones I'm eating, but I've basically eaten 5 foods for the past 6wks; beef, eggs, chicken, almond butter, and coconut oil, and it's drastically reduced my insomnia, acne, joint pain, gas/bloating, and also anxiety but to a lesser degree than the others. I'm slowly starting to work other foods in now. I started with green beans and they flared the insomnia up again big time so they're back out. I've been incorporating some pumpkin seeds recently and seem to be doing fine with them.
