You can accept that you are/aren't a certain way or do/don't possess a certain characteristic, but also know that you have the power to change this. So in your example you could say "yes I do have social anxiety , and I accept that about myself , but I'm going to work to on improving this undesirable trait in order to improve my life" .

There's value to be had in Youtube. I mean shit, Youtube brought us all here didn't it? Youtube (Leo and related channels) has literally transformed my life in a very short amount of time. Just be responsible about what you view and how much time you allot to it and you'll be fine.

I actually didn't know he had a second book, thanks! Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be available in audio format yet.

Thanks again for always making these threads man!

If you've had the symptoms since you were born I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that you're suffering from drug induced side effects. Also, both of those are visual related. Maybe you just have shitty eyes lol Or maybe 5meo is allowing you to see through the matrix and view reality as the digital simulation that it truly is.......jk

That ties in nicely with all the known benefits of intermittent fasting . You're basically saying that the vast majority of your calories are consumed during an 8hr period , which is exactly what the most common intermittent fasting protocol prescribes. Cool

Have you tried death meditation ? I'm not saying it can convince you that you only have months to live, but it can make you fully realize that the 50yrs you have left are going to pass in the blink of an eye. It's been great for me .

I think he and Bostrom are spot on with this line of thinking . There was another recent thread on a similar topic that got major pushback from members of this forum though, including Leo. Frankly it seems completely inevitable to me assuming we don't blow ourselves back to the stone age within the next 100yrs. Who am I though ? Just a dude who read some books and watched some videos. OP if you like this topic check out Nick Bostrom's book Superintelligence .

Nonsense. You and I could sit down and write a book in an afternoon that would do more to serve humanity than the Bible ever could or ever has. And I'm supposed to believe this garbage was sent here from the source of all love and wisdom in the universe? Have YOU actually read the Bible, Old Testament included? It's absolutely racked with genocide, murder, slavery, rape, infanticide, human sacrifice, you name it. I'm not saying that none of Jesus' words are worth taking seriously, I'm saying reading the Bible as a whole is completely unnecessary because it will cause more confusion than understanding. -

I watched about 8 minutes worth but all I hear is 2 denominations arguing over details of the bible that there's no agreement on between Christian sects. Is there a specific part you were referring to? What I gather from this video is that the scrolls that were gathered to cobble together what we know as the Bible are very old, very contradictory, poorly translated, missing pieces, and were obviously not dictated by an all knowing, all loving being. To the OP's original question, I think the thing to do is take the good bits from all of the major faiths, exclude all the nonsense (which is 99% of the Abrahamic faiths), combine this with everything you can learn about science, psychology, sociology, history, cosmology, spirituality, etc., and create your own loosely held belief system. And always be ready to change, adapt or abandon your loosely held beliefs as you grow and learn. -

I've read it. I say don't bother. You've already heard all the parts that are worth hearing . In that 1000 page book (or whatever it is), if you strung together all of the worthwhile passages I bet they wouldn't total more than a few pages. Save yourself a lot of time and just Google something like "passages in the Bible spoken by Jesus" . -
FYI there's already a multi-page thread on this if you wanna read it Mr Ram Dass

I know a total of 3 people in real life who I can talk to about this sort of thing , one of which is my wife. I don't think what you've experienced is out if the ordinary. Meditation, consciousness work , self improvement , etc are not popular in our culture. . . yet. But we can help make them popular by sharing information with the right people in the right ways, and thereby cause a paradigm shift over a few decades or generations . Maybe I'm overly optimistic lol- 4 replies

I can't edit my original post for some reason. I just finished the video. There's not much to it TBH. He hasn't actually tried 5meo but has used N,NDMT a lot and sort of makes presumptions based on that. This is sort of a response video to Leo's in a way. I've always liked his other videos but on this one I'll take his opinions more seriously once he's reporting from personal experience.

I really needed this one today . I've been feeling as though I'm backsliding for the last 3-4 weeks and it's good to know this isn't out of the ordinary . It's just a 1% at a time slow creep type thing, but after a few weeks of creep you're a long way from where you were.

Cool.

You can find just as many people who claim exactly the opposite. Do your own thinking. Examine all perspectives and make up your own mind. Better yet, examine the experiences themselves and decide for yourself Thanks for the post OP! You have reignited my motivation to try this. Learning to use the darknet markets is just such a fuckin beating. I spent about a month researching it when I wanted to try n,nDMT and still never felt confident enough to pull the trigger . Super overwhelming for someone who's not tech savvy. Please post more about your future experiences and thanks again !

No problem here man. I obviously still get the message . I've never listened to any Jim Rohn although I know he's sort of one if the founders of self improvement . Guess I need to check him out.

Is it just on my end or is the audio and video out of sync with each other after about the half way point ?

I use 100% audiobooks. They're probably the most important tool I've found in the last 5 years. A paper book might as well be a tranquilizer dart for me lol.

Run an experiment on yourself. Cut out all rap for a month and either replace it with some sort of more positive music or don't listen to music at all. Take note of the changes in your inner dialogue, mood, interactions with people, etc and see what you notice. It might even help to keep an actual journal that you check into once a day and jot down a few notes. You have nothing to lose. Worst case scenario is you don't notice any improvements and decide to continue listening to the same stuff as always. Best case scenario is you notice a huge improvement in some aspect of life and decide to make some changes in music selection. It's only a month. I had mostly given up metal except for during my workouts. I liked listening to it during workouts for the added aggression but I noticed that everytime I left the gym I had this sort of background feeling of anger trying to bubble up, so I ran an experiment. For a month I stopped listening to metal during workouts and replaced it with EDM, which is still upbeat but much more positive. I noticed within 2-3 days that when I left the gym my moods were better, and after a week or 2 that my moods were better 24/7. So I just kept it up permanently.

I guess it depends on exactly what rap you're listening to. There's nothing inherently wrong with rap, it's just that most of it is exactly what you described. Shallow, materialistic, violent, negative, etc. You might start with weeding out some of the artists you deem to be the worst offenders in that regard and replacing them with more positive ones. I'm hesitant to make suggestions because I don't listen to rap that much. But yeah, in short, in my opinion it can definitely effect your state of mind. It's sort of like the saying "you are the average of your 5 closest friends." Your environment has a profound effect on you, try to make any aspect of it that you have control over be as positive as possible. I grew up on heavy metal and came to this exact same conclusion about a large percentage of it, so I gave it up.
