Is this the infant state? Or can you imagine early hominids thinking? Or how do dogs, cats, chimps, bears, lions, tigers, etc. think? How did the earliest homo sapiens think? What if we were allowed to raise feral humans today? How would they think? What is your question exactly? -

I am not a doctor. I cannot cure ADHD. But maybe eliminate salt, sugar, and caffeine from your diet. Go vegetarian. Exercise intensely and regularly. Sleep very well. Drink water. Get sunshine. Take your vitamins. Eat healthy. Etc. Maybe when you trip use earbuds and an eye mask and a dark room. Listen to guided meditations or a voice to keep you focused. They walk you through scenes. But the drawback is you cannot let your mind wander into the subconscious because the guided mediations somewhat focuses you on certain imagery or a certain task or healing. But my mind often wanders even though I am listening to the guided meditation. But maybe people with ADHD should not use psychedelics. Maybe use downers or stuff like ketamine. -
I am the observer of my thoughts. I am not my thoughts. But if I am the observer, can I think thoughts about my mind's thoughts as the observer? Or does the observer never have thoughts? The observer is just "being" and in the flow state? Can I have an internal monologue about my mind's thoughts as they float by if the monologue is generated by the observer? The brain can run on auto-pilot when cooking dinner or driving to work or watching TV. I can see these thoughts float by. I do not identify with these thoughts. But as I begin mindfulness work I am using my brain to plan a strategy for detaching from my thoughts. I am thinking about my thoughts. I still do not identify with these thoughts of critical thinking. Eventually I detach from my thoughts and I am the observer. I identify with the observer. But can I have thoughts in this state? Also, we all believe we live inside our brain just behind our eyes. Our goal is to detach from this concept and become one with the universe. But damaging the brain with surgery or cancer does prove we live inside our brain. How do we overcome this fact? Our brain is just an antennae picking up the field and the frequency? The "brain in a vat" concept still clings to the idea of the brain. Rene Descartes’ evil demon has convinced me brains exist? I am inside Plato's cave and I believe brain's exist? I am really convinced brain's exist. I need a new story to describe my brain so I can let go of the concept of a brain. I need a new perspective. Thanks.

There is a Seinfeld episode about sex. Not the episode about the masturbation contest. But in the sex episode, the plot is when men abstain we become geniuses and we develop. But when men have sex we stay drugged and stupid. And it is the opposite for women. So when women have sex they have clarity and become geniuses. But, when women abstain, they get foggy and drugged and stupid. There is truth in jest.

I like all the wisdom from mystics and sages and pop songs, etc. But I dislike how I read the books and listen to the pop songs and think I understand. I feel I understand the wisdom. But then I live through a breakup or tough experience. I read the books again or hear the pop songs again and I breakdown crying because now I hear the higher truth or higher wisdom in the the material I once thought I understood. It just hits different once you live the experience. You can suddenly relate to the author. Why can't we hear the wisdom and then avoid trouble in our life? It's often like I exactly replicated the situation warned about in the book or the pop song. But it is bittersweet as the true lesson. It is an epiphany and transcendental. We don't know what we got till it's gone. This seems to be the case at the microcosm and the macrocosm. It is frustrating but also euphoric. -

I agree. Awakening does feel feminine. Psychedelics lead you into intuition, love, emotions, etc. For some of us guys it feels very feminine. We were unavailable and closed off. We were materialist reductionists atheists and now a whole new world is revealed to us. We were unbalanced unhealthy men. It is akin to removing a privilege from a privileged class. They feel attacked. They feel discriminated against. But it is simply fairness and justice. So introducing spirituality to an atheist feels feminine. There is also duality being reduced to a monad. So the two genders can be reduced to a non gendered or bisexual existence. Or we can see love as love and people as equal with no bias. Many shamans or religions or cultures do have a non gendered god or bisexual god or creation story. Maybe we had toxic masculinity or some variation and so becoming balanced feels feminine. Maybe society and culture lied to us. We have been indoctrinated and programmed. We need to get unprogrammed. -
It could be anything. Salt, sugar, caffeine, energy drinks, fast food, candy, junk food, anxiety, nervousness, bad habit, unresolved trauma, repressed behavior, surpressed emotions, ADHD, OCD, trauma, genetics, lack of sleep, lack of exercise, dehydration, medication, substance abuse, chakras, kundalini awakening, demonic possession, etc. Hang out with all your relatives and even distant relatives and see if they do it. If no one does it, start asking them if they ever do it or have done it in the past.

You would have to google around and use your own judgement. But The Beatles, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Lex Fridman, Alex Grey, Terrance McKenna, Tim Leary, Ram Dass, Andrew Huberman, and Joe Rogan all admit to usage. You have to decide if the usage benefited them or retarded them. Or find interviews or articles where they give their own opinions. I assume many artists and musicians use a lot of drugs so it is hard to tell which drugs help and which drugs hurt. But the consensus seems to be psychedelics help with almost no harm. Francis Crick claims LSD helped him discover the double helix of DNA. Kary Mullis claims LSD helped him invent DNA PCR. There is a trend in Silicone Valley to microdose to increase creatitivity. I suppose it is a "strange loop."

You are on the road. The journey has begun. The dam will break. Gravity will pull you. You will see that money and success are meaningless. It is inevitable. Let go. You have cracked open the door and the universe will soon blow the door off the hinges and your true self will walk through the door. There is no going back. You think you can control the universe. You think you can control a spiritual awakening. Re-evaluate your logic. There is no logic. It is intuitive and emotional. Any substance use will likely push you further into spiritual awakening. Each person is different. Look around at other users like The Beatles, Steve Jobs (unknown usage), Bill Gates (unknown usage), they did ok. You cannot control god or the universe. The cosmos will show you who is in control. The cosmos will get you down on your knees begging for mercy and you will one day laugh at your post and your questions here. People do join monasteries and become monks or hare Krishnas or ascetics. You may get the calling. But substances could enhance your creativity. Substances could damage the development of brains up to age 25 or so. Substances could damage anyone's brain beyond 25.

Howdy. I suspect maybe Jim Carrey and Kanye have had mystical experiences or awakenings. Certain people admit to dabbling in psychedelics like maybe Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Lex Fridman, Andrew Huberman, Terrance McKenna, Ram Dass, Tim Leary, The Beatles, Elon Musk, Joe Rogan, etc. But I get the feeling Steve Jobs, Joe Rogan, and Bill Gates never had a mystical experience or awakening nor were they interested in them. I would guess wealthy intelligent people would pursue psychedelics and awakening. Why don't we hear from more wealthy smart people or even people like Putin or Saudi Royalty or others? Are they afraid of the stigma or loss of political power? Do they know the unwashed masses are not ready for the truth? Does awakening hit every socioeconomic class equally and in the same percentage? I would guess wealthy smart people would arrive there in higher numbers. Wealth allows people to fulfill Maslow's hierarchy of needs and pursue spiritual needs. But maybe wealthy smart people are too comfortable and are incentivized to self delusion of materialism and creature comfort. "It is easier for a camel to pass though the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven?" Meaning the wealthy cannot find truth. Hardship and difficulty reveal universal truth? So maybe poverty leads to awakening? Maybe ignorance sends poor people into institutional religions which disenfranchises their awakening and channels it to empower the institution and machinery. Maybe wealthy smart people have too much passion for their business or hobby. I would guess wealthy smart people would all end up at mushrooms and god realization. But I suspect I am wrong. On the other hand, maybe I am God and I only dreamt all these people and it is all an illusion. Can you name more wealthy smart people who did psychedelics or are awakened? Why don't they speak more about it? Are there secret enclaves and retreats of awakened people? Is the topic discussed by Oprah, Springsteen, Obama, George Bush, Trump, etc? It's too taboo? Thanks

I agree with you. Forget I mentioned the book. I will suggest as a response to the OP that everything in our world is a copy of a copy of symbol of a metaphor. -

Word up. I’m just trying to assist the original poster. The OP wishes to know what makes the world illusory. I threw everything I had at the wall as stated above. One possibility is everything today is a symbol and a metaphor. It is all derivative. If we are born into the simulation, we accept it as real. Maybe nanobots or a photograph of life forms is a simulacrum. A robot or an AI is a simulacrum of a human. -
Howdy. I use Penis Envy dried shrooms eaten straight. No tea. No tricks. Use a scale. Lay in bed with eyes closed and ear buds in and stay in the dark for 6 hours. Do not open your eyes. Listen to music or guided meditations. Yes. I agree. When I see Ganesh or Vishnu or Krishna I sense I am them and they are me. The climax of this life is attaining Buddhahood. Enlightenment. Awakening.

The first stage of music is a bird song live performance. Second stage music is human voice singing live performance. Third stage music is a stringed instrument in live performance. Fourth stage is recorded music and played back to you. Fifth stage is a record being played at a radio station and converted to FM frequency and re-converted to sound waves by your car stereo. Sixth stage is making an mp3 digital copy of the vinyl record. Seventh stage is artificial intelligence creating a new song based on all Black Sabbath songs. You can take a look around you. It is all a simulation of reality. Read Simulacra and Simulacrum. It is all your perspective I suppose. -

Interesting. What is the dynamic there? Oppressed people see the invisible chains on them so they fight to break free from oppression which primes them for a spiritual awakening? Oppressed people can see two worlds (oppressed and non-oppressed) so they can imagine a higher spiritual world as well? Wealthy people just assume they are at the top of the ladder? Wealthy people are incentivized to believe they are at the top of the ladder? -

The Hindu term Maya is all is illusion. It keeps us distracted. If we can just "be," we are free. We enter the flow state. But we quickly think a thought about how we are "just being" and we are in the "flow state" and that acknowledgement snaps us back into the illusion. There can be no thoughts. There can be no narration or inner monologue. As I stated elsewhere everything is a metaphor. So your bones, skin, houses, roads, sunsets, trees, rocks, etc. They are all metaphors for something else. And everything is mythology. So history reaches back to pre-history and myths and it blurs right to today and blurs into our current living humans and me and you. We are living walking myths. It is Joseph Campbell's hero's journey. So only art is truth. Art shows the subconscious. So we can never communicate a truth. The best we can do is write a pop song or a poem or novel or a movie. We create symbolism to try to speak a truth rather than actually speaking the truth. One story we can use to conceptualize this is The Garden of Eden. Something happened where we disconnected from our essence. Maybe there was a tradeoff of a frontal lobe or cerebral cortex in exchange for divinity. We mirror our mothers going back to Eve. We are programmed. The unprogrammed state is the awakened state. So all is the Dao or Taoism. All is the monad. It is dualism. It is the yin yang symbol of a black and white fish. You cannot have the awakened state without the unawakened state. You cannot have reality/monad without illusion or false reality. The book Simulacra and Simulacrum theorizes a fourth stage or final stage where everything is a replica of the real thing. We are likely already living in this dystopian fourth stage. There could be an illusion where we think we are making "progress" but we are only making materialist and technological progress. We are actually regressing in terms of humanity, intuition, emotions, wisdom, etc. So maybe the Gnostics, hermetics, Ancient Egyptians were awakened or more spiritually advances than we can ever be. So find yourself. And follow your bliss as Joseph Campbell said. -
Listen to some Terrance McKenna on YouTube. In my experience anything over 3 grams can be a heroic dose. I have done between 3 grams and 8 grams and they were all about the same trip with some variation. I had mystical experiences. I saw Vishnu and Lakshmi and I had no prior knowledge of them. I swear they were not in my subconscious. I saw Krishna and Radha and again, I swear I had no prior knowledge of them. I saw Ganesh but I have at least seen his image before. I astral projected. I saw the big bang. I have had euphoric oceanic boundlessness ecstatic cathartic trips and I have also had 3 to 6 hours of extreme nightmarish suicidal trips. It is unpredictable. I have been in purgatory and time has stopped and it is a nightmare. I have been disassociated from physical objects around me. There can be a sinister meaninglessness to it. I lived many past lives. I trip and fall through infinite worlds. Be prepared for extreme body loads of darting eyes, restlessness, pacing, nausea, racing thoughts, uncontrollable thoughts, inability to focus, insanity, extreme anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, repetitive movements, etc. I reach the climax of Buddhahood. I always pull back. It feels like you are at the borderline of insanity or god but I never let go and release. I always pull back and will myself to maintain control and my sanity. But I get a clear glimpse of the source, infinite imagination, the monad, etc. It is rainbows and a kaleidoscope. You always feel like you were just about to learn the secret of the universe. Be safe. Be sane.

Maybe there is a terror in realizing we are wrong about everything. We have to be deprogrammed. It is all an illusion. Maybe we need to grieve for the illusions and let them go. Maybe we are scared if we were wrong about our entire life and our past, maybe we are wrong about DMT and god realization and the current moment. I believe there is a genesis story from some tribe which states in the beginning the awareness said "I am" but then it said "I am afraid" but then it said if "I am god, who am I afraid of? Why am I afraid?"

Also, Leo is not married and has no kids. Those things will change him if they occur naturally. I notice Bashar and Neil Degrasse Tyson are also arrogant, angry, and frustrated. John Vervaeke is the same who I know from YouTube’s “Awakening from the Meaning Crisis.” Could be a con. Could be a mind hack to manipulate the audience. Could be a social media artifact. Could be their childhood. Maybe they are just frustrated by all us dummies. -

I think Joseph Campbell said their body creates life. They are already god. Women are mothers and wives everywhere. They are mystics from cradle to grave. They are right in front of our face and we can't see them. Women are intuitive and emotional. They are mostly laughing and rolling their eyes at us guys. I think Eckart Thoelle said women are closer to awakening or living in the now than men. She who knows, does not speak. She who speaks, does not know. So the ladies are silent. Women are the watchers. They silently wait for men to wake up. Women tolerate men very patiently. Catholic priests are men. Yet humans want siri to have a female voice. Maybe we want our tech to be submissive and motherly. Philosophers, Jesus, Buddha, etc. are mostly men. But maybe the patriarchy or the historians focus on dudes. -

@Inliytened1 Ah ha. I see. They live a whole life inside the ego. @Leo Gura Ahhh. Maybe there is a bell curve. Too poor and you are distracted trying to survive. Too rich and you are deluded by a materialistic success. @Vibes So true. You realize the biggest game to play is spirituality. @Husseinisdoingfine Nice relevant bible drop. Thank you. Thanks for all your replies. Isn't there a form of Buddhism which advocates hedonism? And Leo recommends indulging each stage of spiral dynamics and progressing up the stages. We must satiate each desire and not skip stages. Likewise, I would assume wealthy people would follow all the roads of sex, lust, power, fame, and money and realize each road leads to a dead end. They are ultimately empty and hollow victories. They should eventually realize awakening and god realization is the ultimate challenge. Shouldn't pick-up artists eventually turn to awakening? I am just surprised wealthy intelligent people who are on the awakening journey are not more vocal. Silence is complicity. What we ignore we condone. They have the megaphone but don’t use it. I guess that dang ego is just too tricky for everyone. Most people get seduced by believing they are successful and accomplished. But I dreamed up all these wealthy intelligent people and this forum. And now I am feeling the pull of my own egoistic spiritual arrogance. I see you ego! -

I have never been. I have heard one must be prepared for dense populations, witnessing extreme poverty and hunger, lack of public restrooms and cultural acceptance of public defecation in public places, no toilet paper, and different toilet habits with a cup of water to rinse your backside. -
Soul Flight replied to Soul Flight's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Thank you for your responses. I guess few people ponder these concepts. Even I only had my epiphany in the middle of my life and late in life. I suppose Plato and most philosophers find these concepts to be the ultimate challenge, but most humans are simply not interested. I am just confused more wealthy and intelligent people don't all end up at the enlightenment destination. But I guess there are different forms of intelligence and not all intelligence is spiritual intelligence. I feel once you have over $10M dollars you would start to see money and governments and business for what they really are. You would see past the illusions of fame and celebrity and media. You would start to ponder big questions and search for the absolute and the monad. All the wise men and books all seem to point to the same direction to resolve this crisis. Maybe it is a big conspiracy and the Church and the governments keep everyone asleep. They make drugs illegal and control the media so no one can reach an awakening. -
Thanks for the update. I was thinking about you. Glad you sobered up. What have the last few weeks been like? Substance use? Eating? Sleeping? What led to this event? Did you mostly just need 12 hours to sober up from the LSD? I was worried you might need hospitalization for mild psychosis. I'm glad you tossed your stash. Maybe use more moderately in the future. Maybe once a month or less. Eat healthy, sleep, drink water, etc. I had similar insights as yourself. I saw God as suffering because he/she is lonely and is the only awareness and is desperate to find another other to talk to and to love and to have a friend. I even speculate our human compulsion to search for aliens is a metaphor for God searching for other life forms. We are alone in the universe just like God is alone at the macrocosm level. But maybe I am projecting my loneliness onto God. I see Krishna creating Radha to love himself/herself as an archetype of this concept. I also had intuitions that God has gone a little nuts being alone all the time. Be well. Be safe. Thanks for the insights.
