  1. @Richard AlpertI agree on that one. When I once was on a holiday in Greece breathing fresh air, swimming and eating free-range organic fresh fish, my depression was gone. A diet not accorded to your unique needs, repressed emotions, lack of movement, sleep and goals can also cause it. Man fuck that shit live life unseriously.
  2. Throw a temper tantrum, scream into a pillow, beat the heck out of your bed, swimm and yell underwater... Shit's in the body.
  3. Hey guys, today I thought I'd share with you my thoughts on depression and how to get over this bullshit. So: 1. Notice your thoughts. So depression is usually caused by a negative thinking pattern which repeats itself over and over again. What you can do is to pay attention to these thoughts, and ask "Why?". So for example if I think "I am depressed because I can't find my life's purpose" I would ask "Well, Why is this so?" and all types of answers could come like "Because I neglect my true heart calling" or "Because life really doesn't have any purpose". And you go on and on asking "Why" until the negative thought just dissolves and the ego says something like "Okaaay, you got me". 2. Take a moment to return into the past. What was the first time when you got depressed? If you remember contemplate on that. Is there a reason for you feeling that way then and now? What is it? 3. Listen to your soul and stop rationalizing what will make you happy. Visualize who you want to be. Pay attention to your dreams as they could offer solutions to a lot of problems. Read the book "The Big Leap" by Gay Hendricks to find your zone of genius. 3. Listen to your instinct and body needs when it comes to diet. I figured out that diet could help a lot with depression. Frequent reasons for it could be: a) excess raw food consumption and/or insufficient protein/fat/calorie intake b) salt restriction - salt clears up the thoughts and grounds you. Some green olives could get you going in the hardest moments. c) too much protein or fat which "clogs up" the system and leaves you dull, depressed, catatonic. 4. Pay attention to your body. It is a reflexion of your mind, so in a depressive state your breath will be shallow, your head and shoulders will collapse, your back will hump. Take a deep breath from your belly up to your solar plexus and chest gathering all the tension inside and outside you and then exhale, relaxing all your muscles. Savor the feeling of love in your heart area, feel the beauty of the present moment, expanding with love and abundance. Start exercising to "exorcise" your demons, to let go of the past trauma and tension anchored in you body. In the beginning it could be hard so if you don't have energy for exercise, then start eating more food and do deep breathing to recharge. 5. Sun. Allow the sun to "burn" your negative thoughts and set you free and relaxed into reality. It revitalizes your body also. 6. Do some active meditation. (with your body) In my case normal sitting meditation did nothing, but getting into your body and feeling it can do wonders sometimes. I know it's hard for some of you guys out there and it was also for me to get over that so I hope that I am helpful. Take responsibility! You deserve a great life!
  4. Be careful with this. Neglecting your instincts and your body needs can sometimes be dangerous. Notice also that tribes that eat less have a much cleaner, less stressful environment and eat high quality organic food. If you do something like this, make sure it's in the summer and it's done in a stress-free environment. And don't forget the middle path.
  5. @Martin123 I am also very grateful for Leo, you and all the other people who give advice! It's life-transforming! You are right that the biggest impact on others is when we become the person who we want to see in them and set an example. Gandhi also said: "Be the change that you want to see in the world." I could burst into tears when I imagine how this principle has a huge potential for changing lifes and making yourself and others happy, it's really the real contribution. Thanks for sharing! @Leo Gura Thanks a lot for the advice and ideas! Let's go for some passion hunting baby!
  6. @Leo GuraThanks Leo! I realised my intuition is telling me to study veterinary medicine (thought about it since childhood) and go to Africa and save the animals (thats why I wanted to travel there). It isn't something that motivates me highly (but I love animals) and I can't come up with a big vision but I sense that it's the right track and maybe the true passion will come as I get deeper into this. Your life purpose course may be a good idea. In the summer I'll go and do some volunteering in Africa to explore what's going on.
  7. Hey guys, I am very glad to be amongst you in this forum! I'll try to keep it short. So my story is the following : Before 1-2 years I had a dream of becoming a basketball player in the NBA, I trained hard - sometimes 2 times per day, was supermotivated and that time was really the happiest part of my life. My plan was to study something in college which would help me to make video games after my career as a basketball player. All went well until I stumbled upon Leo and personal development stuff. As I expanded my consciousness, did some meditation and learned about enlightment I felt that, as a sportsman, I wouldn't do much for the world and wouldn't help people much. So my motivation just went away and after some months I decided to quit. I also quitted the programming that I was learning at the time because I felt that I couldn't help humanity with making video games(It also was kinda boring to program). I even became depressed after that. Now, it's like 7-8 months after - I feel alright, but it's my last year in high school and I am stuck which path to take. I was thinking of becoming a doctor but I don't consider that to be my thing. I would be much more pumped up from doing work that makes other people more happy and conscious(e.g. a life coach) . Also I feel I don't have a lot of life experience so what I want the most now is to travel the world, to expore it and maybe to write my journey in a book. (but how would I contribute when I travel with no purpose?). But I'm only 17 and I don't know if it would be ok not to go to university and just go travelling. Also, today I realised that this idea of helping others really turned my life backwards. I really feel some regret and guilt from quitting my old dreams. I even plan to return to the domain of game development. So now I gotta take ONE direction : 1. Learn game development and become a video game designer (sort of the low-consciousness thing) 2. Learn psychology and become something like a life coach, and do research on the human mind (helping more people) 3. Go on a big trip around the world first (I want to go mostly to Africa and Asia and make it a cheap adventure like this guy here: So, I thought that I really need some advice and decided to write here. What if I become a video game designer but don't really help people that way? Personal development stuff says that I won't be fulfilled, but will it be so?
  8. What if our close friends or family are red, blue or orange? Do we need to try to change them actively or just work on ourselfs and by doing so to give an exemple for them? For instance, I have a racist friend in my class, should I persuade him that he's wrong or just accept him and develop myself without caring?
