  1. Life is just limited. Not some sort of divine punishment. Who is being punished and why? And by whom? It makes no sense. Depression is a state where you focus your attention on how bad it is to be you. It is in a sense a self-centered emotional state. Thinking life is a punishment is just that. It is certainly possible to have a bad life but that doesn't mean that this realm is itself inherently bad.
  2. He has some good advice but would probably make for a bad couch. He is not very cushy I think.
  3. How do you do breathwork?
  4. Did you also give up standard of living?
  5. To break an addiction you need to think that you are not missing out on anything by no longer feeding the addiction. What are the costs of your addictions?
  6. I've read in the book Models by Mark Manson a trick for approaching where you visualize a line between yourself and the person you wish to approach. Then you just focus on making that line shorter till you are within conversation range. Put your mind of the pressure. Haven't tested that out myself.
  7. Do you consider your own videos less geared for success? Being three hours long and all.
  8. Speak for yourself. If you talk to me with this accusatory language out of the blue I will block you.
  9. Amsterdam is much more accessible geographically than Australia with poorer countries in close vicinity like East-European countries.
  10. Sex trafficking is illegal everywhere. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen and Australia doesn't seem to be an exception there: https://www.afp.gov.au/news-centre/media-release/human-trafficking-reports-continue-increase-australia, although to a lesser degree compared to other places.
  11. This reminds me of how Amsterdam allegedly attract sex trafficking since prostitution is legal there. I have a theory that when you decriminalize something that is criminal in most countries then that can create an opportunity for bad actors to capitalize on.
  12. True, relatively speaking, but it helps but your politics into perspective. People are quiet spoiled these days and don't know how good they really have it despite room for improvement. If you live in a first world country today then you can do nearly anything you dream of if you apply yourself. That is a modern miracle we take completely for granted. There also degrees of savagery. Compare the savagery of the Roman Empire with the savagery of 18th century colonialism for example.
  13. A lot of people are directing their anger at director lady of the Secret Service. She agreed to testify at a house hearing. Wouldn't want to be in her shoes right now. There's also been anger and questioning over supposed DIE practices within the Secret Service. The director herself stated that she wanted to make 30% of the force female explicitly. People are angry specifically that the Secret Service seems to prioritize tokenism over merit when lives are at stake. Why is a short fat woman guarding orange man? How is she supposed to help body block him? I bet this is going to be like a shock to the system for the Secret Service and they'll tighten up their performance a lot henceforth.
  14. Even the most undeveloped and unstable regions today pale in comparison to the scale of savagery and wanton brutality of the past, such as with the Roman Empire or the Mongolian Empire.
  15. Politics in the modern age is better than politics historically generally speaking. For most of human history, you could be conquered, killed, raped or turned into slave if you happened to be born on the wrong side of the fence.
  16. In my personal experience, I think certain men can care less about tidiness and cleanliness but I've met pig people on both sides of the aisle. I think a female pig person is almost worse due to all of the discarded hygiene products that ends up piling up around their den. Used tampons and pads give me convulsions.
  17. Ah, I see. Well, know your limits I guess.
  18. Its been less than a year since I finished it, so its too early to say just yet but every time I look at my list my values feel right and meaningful. For me, it will most likely be more about developing the meaning of the values I already have on my list rather than add new ones.
  19. Why not just buy barefoot running shoes? I've worn my brother's pair and its like wearing a rubber sock. Even if nature wasn't polluted with glass shards, metal splints and junk, I wouldn't want to expose my soft and supple feet to small rocks, thorns, bugs, muck and other detritus. Its risky and dirty.
  20. This is blatantly false. It is in fact the opposite. Vegetables, beans and grains are much harder to digest and tend to rot in your colon. Hence herbivores often have multiple stomachs and carnivores have smaller stomachs than omnivores. The human body is highly adaptable and have survived eating meat for as long as they have existed. If humans weren't designed to eat meat then it wouldn't be possible for humans to survive in places like Greenland where they eat mostly meat historically. Vegans need to stop with the intellectual dishonesty.
  21. "where do you draw the line?" I don't think society should go vegan necessarily. It is too problematic nutritionally for many people and animal products and meats are incredibly rich sources of food that have long traditions in terms of both animal husbandry and as cuisine. In my opinion, a good compromise is to move closer to a semi-vegetarian diet with reduced meat consumption and make sourcing from local farms easier and more competitive than long-distance imports somehow. Vegans should examine their biases as well when they promote a cultural shift towards veganism. Vegans have a major bias for cuteness which I rarely find them being honest about. You don't see vegans protesting fish farming or feeling bad about squashing an ant on the pavement. Does the life of farm animals matter because of a principle or because you are moved by emotion due to them being mammalian and cute? If its based on the principle of preserving all life, how do you reconcile with the fact that plants are also a form of life that feels pain or the insects that are crushed when you drive your car/take a public transit? There are numerous examples such as these that you could think of where life is killed when you simply do something. In my opinion, most vegans are driven by the latter however, by the fact that farm animals are simply cute. That is fine if you are but recognize the fickle subjectivity of that position and the tunnel vision that activism based on cuteness results in. At a certain level you have to accept that to be alive is at the expense of something else on a fundamental level. Millions of microorganisms are slain everyday inside of your body. Bugs are squashed and destroyed by you just driving your car and walking around. When you have a large population, then there will necessarily be a large cost payed by other species and the environment who we share the planet with. That is how life works.
  22. Isn't the rule that up to a two year age gap is acceptable for 18-19 year olds (or whatever the legal age of consent is)? I think that is fine. Sex between kids is fine if they are of relative same age.
  23. Divorces are always complicated and have to be considered on a case by case basis in my opinion if you want to try to pin blame for the divorce. There's likely fault on both sides to a certain extent. Like, many husbands are accused of being emotionally unavailable and not supporting the relationships and many wives are probably bad at communicating with their husbands in a way that they can understand. The majority of divorces are initiated by women however, which suggest that they are perhaps more likely to feel unhappy with the relationship. My guess for why we tend to feel sorry for the women post-divorce is probably due to a lingering culture of women depending on their husbands for basic survival. Back in the day, getting divorced or widowed as a women could mean starving.
  24. Getting to be an artist is a tremendous privilege. Its important because it enriches society. Without art, life would be very humdrum and less meaningful.
