Baldur's Gate refutes this statement. The game is a piece of art.

Diplomacy, rather than bombing, has the surprising effect of making people talk, rather than fight.

Women at the place I work have given me compliments. I didn't take it as a flirting thing. I guess it's a mixture of context and delivery. Most emotionally aware people will be able to separate flirting from kindness. And don't forget you have the power of the n-word (no) at your sleeve all the time. You are not obliged to meet the expectations of anyone that thinks your flirting with them.

I think that the public perception of the Chinese about foreigners is more important than a random USAer point of view.

I find that the public perception of what pedophilia is is very separated from the psychological definition of attraction to prepubescent individuals. It is common for girls to be physiologically developed as early as 15. The question becomes a moral one. At 15 years I don't think people have the complete discernment to engage in sex in a healthy way and, anecdotally, I find that people that engage earlier in their sex lives have more trouble in this aspect of life. When does one draw the line of the famous "age of consent" has always been a tricky matter. In the US, it varies from 15 to 18 years old.

The trip was very noisy for me. Every time I took it I threw up.

"Soup or Salad?" sounds like "Super Salad?"

They have lawyers who will keep requesting stuff and postponing the delivery of documents to buy time and tire everyone involved in it. It is traditional legal bs.

Yes. But what you described is also politics and order.

Holy shit. A $1Bi GDP swing must be a hit for Sri Lanka.

With the NBOME problem, it goes further. NBOH is also an analogous substance that has at least 7 variants. All of them are extremely cheap and impossible to discern without specific test kits. At least you can know that you're taking NBOH or NBOME because they have a metallic taste, unlike LSD. You never know what you're taking. Almost every MDMA pill is laced with all kinds of stuff. You never know what you're taking.

2700 on chess.com or lichess is not the same as the actual 2700 ELO mark.

And who do you think is being coddled? Society is still supporting those who are rich. Billionaires don't grow their food, make their clothing, or make their own tools. We already sustain certain people to the detriment of others and half of the things we do are not even related to the survival of our race (and of that half, most of them actually threaten our survival). The selection is already artificial and many of the people you call "undeveloped" were explored into undevelopment. The "developed" world is just the part that was willing to enslave other people to their benefit. The majority of wars of the western world was geared toward acquiring or reacquiring the "rights" of such exploitation. Even today, the people that control the most wealth are the ones that use the monopoly of labor to their advantage. The people that run society and assure most of the survival are not the ones being rewarded for it. As I said, it is artificial selection. Nice comment that complements mine. /\

That only works in some places of the world. I had to find every woman I had a relationship with.

This has always been the case. Some details changed, but women were always selective about sex. The best way to deal with this is simply to get the reps in. If you haven't been rejected 100 times, you didn't even begin the game. It took me about 7 years to not get nervous at all around women and the process of finding dates became way more fun and smooth after I did it. Just expose yourself to more women and not get too caught up in internet doom talk.

That was irony.

There are 2 to 3 words for "Wisdom" in almost every language in the world. I just wanted to be part of the game. And I am almost sure I saw someone with savvy in their name once before. I just popped the first synonym of wisdom I thought about that could be a name.
-
Almost every romantic language has its word for philosophy as a variation of a combination of philos (love) + sophia (wisdom). Portuguese and Spanish is Filosofia, for example. And it's where philosophy comes from.

I meant Schizophonia's.

Israfil replied to Danioover9000's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
There are many scholars who posit that the roots of national and racial conscience has at least some roots in the crusades. Here's a quick video on it: -
Planes fall all the time, don't they?

Israfil replied to Danioover9000's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
You can think about this about any historical event and no amount of time doing so will change current situations. If the crusades never happened we could easily see the characteristics of current Islam completely different. His whole argument of "We would be covered up discussing how many wives should we have" is based on a version of Islam that exists as a direct effect of the Crusades. We only have this perspective because of past events any effort of trying to imagine different outcomes based on something that didn't happen already carries the bias and perspective of that event having happened. That's why it isn't fruitful. -
Israfil replied to Danioover9000's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
Almost everything you wrote is absolutely reasonable. I just don't see how speculating about how things would be if a very complex series of events wouldn't occur 500 years ago is in any way a reasonable construction of an argument in favor of said series of events. It is very useful to paint current Muslims in a derogatory light. Hence my ironic comment.
