Hello! In this video, Leo refers to some consciousness may be connected to some layers of VR, but in the end it's consciousness. When I was thinking Simulation, I had something different in mind... Simulation may not involve any consciousness, like - is it possible for virtual character, let's say Mario in a MarioSim3999 game to see, smell, hear, feel and not know it's actually a game object? In that case, can WE be such an object? Can the sensory feeling that the object experiences be called consciousness?

Thank you for your answers. As you say @Inliytened1 I haven't had such experience so yes, at the moment I'm theorising. -

Well, a game character with 5 senses and very intelligent AI can look at its hand and think that it's conscious... -

On the perspective of someone who perceives Mario... but the question is, how can you know that you're not such a character, which is actually a game object, with no consciousness connected to it? -

So Mr. Mario is conscious? -
Debil replied to How to be wise's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@How to be wise no one really knows who they were, literature of of Jesus started much after they died, until then there were only stories passed from generation to generation by mouth. When any of these figures (Jesus, Buddha, Moses, etc) are referred to, it's mostly as an allegory. Osho said (in a video) he was intentionally saying outrageous things, because it makes you think about things you take for granted. -

Astral projection, precognition, PK and memory of previous life is an access to information, it does not mean that there's necessary a soul or a field of consciousness... our intuition, even after years of meditation, can mislead. -
Guess this is not the first time it was asked, I've searched, but couldn't find such topic. After many hours of self inquiry, I've started doubting that there's a perceiver in the first place. How can I tell if consciousness exists, or is it just an illusion created by the brain's processing abilities and memory?

The realization that there may be no "me" behind the scenes and this is just a body, without something special behind the scenes, a bit bummed me and took the wind out of the sails. Which is surprising, because all these years I was a common materialist, believing there's no such thing as soul and when we die game is over and I was perfectly fine with that. Guess the last year when I started believing in something beyond this body, built some expectations and now caused disappointment. I guess that in terms of actualization it doesn't really matter, even if there's nothing beyond this body, life is still just a game and learning to accept what comes is a good thing to learn in any case. -

The sense of self and awareness does not mean that there's really something (external or special) that perceives, just like a computer can be aware that it contains a virus or that there are many processes (thoughts) running. That's what I believed for some time now, but only assuming that there's such thing as consciousness in the first place. The sense of existence doesn't mean there's really someone there... Sexual attraction also cannot be explained, we know it's only a feature of our body. Love too is caused by hormones (Oxytocin), that may only be a survival tool. How can we know that the sense of existence indicates this connection to a "field of consciousness" and is not just an illusion? -

Being aware of something is just noticing it, I have trained myself to notice my senses more, but it's nothing more than a virtual timer letting reminding me to notice my senses. With training, the time interval between noticing becomes shorter. But I don't see how it requires a special abilities that, let's say, a machine can't have. I think I am limited to the input from my senses... What makes our body different than a machine with complex analysis capabilities? -

Another one, it has some stuff we heard on the firstly posted video, but also has lots of other interesting insights. -
This term is quite confusing to me, because it can be understood as "I don't exist", but that doesn't seem right because I know something exists with a subjective experience. so I've been wondering if the "no self" term refers to having no identity stories in my mind, being without having any definition as to what I am?

@Dodoster that's assuming that the question is hard coded... I think that in our case the project creator made an AI that can decide to do random stuff within certain limitations. So the creator didn't write the question, but rather it's the result of a very long sequence of events leading to that point. -
Debil replied to Thomas's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Thomas The distinctions between what's "you" and what's not is a result of hard coded stories in your mind. Get rid of these stories and you'll know this answer. Let's say your computer runs many processes, one of them created a file on your hard drive. Who created the file? The process? The operating system? The computer? -

@Kaity that'll happen when you won't mind dying. Why would you mind? It's the pain you're really afraid of. -

I've had it occasionally over the years, but when it happened last week it was different. I used to freak out and always hated when it happened, but since learning about the ego and how letting go of it involves this feeling of dying, last experience was different. Had gone into alpha state and a dream started, I stood near a table and suddenly realized I was dreaming. Not sure if I did something on the dream that caused it, but suddenly it all went black and this paralysis effect started. This time I decided to let go and flow with it, maybe it went for around 5-10 seconds, but it was nice. I was OK with having no control. I remember it came along with a strange feeling. Don't think that's an enlightenment experience, but it's sure a good exercise for letting go of the ego. -
These guys cover the subject very thoroughly -

Most of you probably heard about David Hawkings or even read his book, Power vs. Force, he's a MD PhD that has awakened somewhere mid life. Since he's coming from an academic background, he has a scientific interpretation to this experience and good explanations to consciousness and the process raising it.

@John Flores Indeed, like other religions, Judaism got far from were it started. Even in the Torah, for instance, God is described as capable of being angry -- that's not even reasonable since God created everything. It's like writing a program and then yelling on the program and punishing it when a bug is found. -
Debil replied to Leo Gura's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@John Flores better not make generalizations, not all jews are the same. Myself haven't seen this anywhere, it was explained to me by my brother in law, who goes to Kabalah lessons for several years. I probably didn't explain it right and probably don't understand this enough. There's a Kabalah book on my read list, will keep you posted after I finish it. -

Whatttt... I wrote a big response here, was there a database rollback or something? In essence, after reading Power vs. Force I realized many problems with the writer's methods, particularly the muscle test which he uses to determine "truths" and calls "scientific". It's not consistent and surprisingly works only for him. Plus he uses a lot of scientific terms, but in the wrong context sometimes without any real basis. His lawyers uses force (lol, he preaches to use power) to take down any mentions of such criticism on the web through lawsuit threats. If you get to listen or read his material, be careful with what you absorb. -

Read about modern physics' Strings theory that dictates there has to be multiple dimensions occurring at the same space. Another possibility according to Simulation theory, is that this is all a computer simulation. Real scientists research this and how we would to detect if this was a simulation, like by going to a place that the program never thought we would go into. -
Debil replied to Leo Gura's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
I'm not an expert, but from what I know Kabalah is teaching to love others as much as you love yourself (Golden Rule), which is done by growing your ego to infinity, making everything a part of you (same as dissolving it).
