@charlie2dogs Leo says in his videos that their is only one way to enlightenment that he knows of and that is to destroy the ego. Are you suggesting there is another way? Could you recommend any meditation techniques? -
@Mal this is very cool. I can see the potential it has. I tried it with anxiety and as i was switching back and forth i noticed how much hostility "Teags" spoke with. Thank you for sharing is this something that needs to be done on a consistent regular basis?

@DizIzMikey thank you for sharing that about yourself. There is something comforting in knowing that you are not alone. Although I do know that there are a lot people with emotional issues, I have never actually spoken to someone with anxiety and panic attacks (well that anyone was open about anyway). Isn't it funny we meet people and have no idea what's going on inside and we hold ourselves to a standard of perceived "normal". I feel like if everyone was more open about their issues then we wouldn't feel the need to live up to a false standard. Or maybe most are "normal" and I am not. I am sorry to hear that you are going through torture and struggle to leave the house. Do you have any techniques to help you deal with it? My whole life I have hated myself and never realised that I did until about a couple of years ago and I have been working on it ever since. Thanks for listening & if you need someone to talk to as well i am here also.

Ive never thought about it like that, when looking at a sunset or something beautiful. I find it rather exciting (and a bit freaky) - the thought of no self and how we have been deceiving ourselves, I am excited to do more work and uncovering -
@Mal I just had a look at the Bigmind website and I am looking forward to doing the guided meditation when I am not at work I will have to read some more about it and try this guided meditation to grasp what you mean by "identifying as resistance".
-
@Toby interesting. I have never heard of somatic experiencing or feldenkrais. I love how much you can learn from others on this forum
-
@Mal is it resistance that causes panic attacks?
-
@Mal Thats a good tip! Thank you. I have recently been trying to embrace my social anxiety and it has made me a lot calmer when speaking to people except in a group situation. It seems impossible to accept it when I'm having a full blown panic attack in front of a group of people. Any suggestions ?

@cetus56 thanks for posting that video. I saw the other video that you posted on someone else's thread "rest in awareness" I really liked that one and now understand what you meant when you said to me "rest in awareness". @Toby thank you for recommending that audiobook. I've recently discovered adyashanti and I really enjoy listening to him + I love listening to audio books/podcasts while I'm driving. I'll definitely check it out -

@cetus56 yes how you describe it is what it was like. I will definitely try surrendering to it next time I get that sense! i guess I'm wondering if I should continue what I'm doing and keep doing the inquiry work until I can be in that state/ paradigm for longer periods of time? I have watched ALOT of Leo's videos multiple times and I have only just begun practising his instructions on enlightenment, so I am still a new newbie. maybe I just need to keep re watching them but it definitely helps to get other people's perspectives on the matter and not just from his videos -

@cetus56 yes it definitely devastated the sense of "I". I don't think it was a conceptual understanding, I saw it and felt it, so to speak. it was very quick, it only lasted about 5 secs, as mentioned above, it was like that cube illusion in one of Leo's enlightenment videos where the cube flips and then flips back. I haven't been any deeper than just to see that there is no self and there never was. that is why I am asking what to do now, how do I go deeper? was that an enlightenment experience in your opinion? -

@30secs thanks for the reminder. For a moment I did think I had it but I definitely think it's a start! It was like that cube illusion (can't remember the name of it) in one of Leo's enlightenment videos, where the cube flips and then flips back. Was pretty eye opening. -

@Toby I have never considered getting a teacher. Thanks for the info, I'll look into them -

@Arik thanks again for your reply! I was feeling a bit lost with what to do next and after watching all Leo's enlightenment videos again, there's so much info that it can make one really confused . I keep trying to simplify it all but sometimes you just feel stuck. Thanks for the practical tips! It is appreciated -

@Toby any recommendations? -

@Arik thank you for your reply. So what your saying is I should just keep practising mindfulness through meditation and hopefully raise my awareness enough that I will eventually see what you are trying to explain to me. Looking for practical tips and advice to progress higher in awareness. -

@cetus56 is resting as awareness the next step towards enlightenment? -
@Leo Gura why do you, personally, pursue enlightenment?

I have been meditating for 20 minutes a day for about 6 weeks now. I have previously done meditation for a month here and there as well. What I am struggling with is being aware of my thoughts as they are happening. I find I can only be 'remember' them and not actually watch them as they are happening. Has anyone else had this problem and does anyone have a solution? Thanks

Thank you everyone for your replies. They are all very helpful and I'm glad I'm not doing it wrong! I will continue to practise and use all the helpful hints you guys have given me -
After watching Leo's "how to stop judging yourself" video, I have noticed how much I judge other people constantly throughout my day. I did the exercises and I have become very mindful of my judgements but, Frustratingly, I just can't seem to stop judging! So I have started using the technique learnt in Leo's recent video "The power of self acceptance" so whenever I catch myself judging others I give them love instead. Had anyone tried this? or does anyone have any other helpful ideas on how to stop judging others?

I get something very similar in social situations, if I'm in groups or meeting new people. It triggers panic attacks and i end up in tears and embarrassing myself. I've always put it down to very low self esteem and caring too much about what people think. I've smoked weed too and it brings it on even worse so I avoid the drug. I've been practising mindfulness and meditation it seems to take the edge off but it's still there.

Thanks for your replies. I have a long way to go in the self actualisation world. I judge people so much, a lot on their looks. It consumes me! I realise the way they look is not who they are but I've been doing it for so long. I'll try not to take it too seriously from now on! Thanks guys
