  1. FYI We have a few encryption alternative that does not use prime numbers. I don't remember the details, but a competition was run semi-recently and they found a few alternatives. Realistically, this problem will either take so long to solve that we will have probably moved on already to another standard, or it continues to be a NP problem, in which case to break it in a realistic time frame will require quantum computing, and if we already have that we will probably be using a quantum computing based encryption method. TLDR: Being able to compute primes easily would be a huge issue if someone suddenly discovered it, but the likelihood of that just happening(outside of an academic environment with actual experts) is basically 0%. If someone did just figure it out, we'd deal with it and move on.
  2. Can you let me know how why guy is an expert? I've never heard of him and I can't see to find any credentials or experience that would qualify him for that evaluation. I think expecting that in 10-20 is a bit of a knee jerk reaction by him. It'll help a lot in different researches likely, but predicting it's trajectory isn't something I think anyone can really do.
  3. Legit good points. Sometimes it's just random alterations in how your body feels too. 1/10 days I'll feel too hot even tho everything else is consistent. But it's important to find commonalities in how you feel.
  4. It would be based on two things: As Rigel said, the temp of the food itself, but honestly that would dissipate pretty fast most likely. The biggest factor in temperature as a result of food is likely pure calories. And the way you're metabolism processes it. If you don't get much sleep then your body will probably process calories in a fairly erratic way. I haven't looked too much into that but I wouldn't be surprised. Ultimately I think it's less what foods you can eat and more how you can help your body deal with what it already has
  5. I think one problem with this is that academics aren't concerned with communicating to laymen. Every avenue of academics almost has it's own language and it's basically focused on communicating within their own dept. As a result, it definately makes it hard to communicate what you're doing, but it may also make it less efficient to communicate to other people in your discipline. Ultimately I think we need to focus more in educational communicators as a hugely important part of all disciplines. Physics and STEM in general has started to do a better job of this for sure.
  6. IMO it's as easy as comparing inflation to increase in profits. The data shows profits vastly higher then inflation. (Depending on markets of course) And one can argue free market, but what if corporations are colluding on prices? In Canada that isn't close to unheard of with groceries. In the US, tech companies colluded to suppress wages. So I would say that a huge investigation is in order, at a minimum.
