Another teacher that does art is Karl Renz: http://karlrenz.de/BIO/bio.html Also Ramana or Nisargadatta wrote poems. Also a form of art. So you never know what life wants from you. -

I bought the the audiobook "the one of us" from Adyashanti and his wife Mukti some time ago. I found it very enlightening regarding relationship from an awakened perspective.- 15 replies

I don't take any written notes. I let what is written resonate and I know that whats really important I will remember if I have to. This doesn't apply if it's about books for studying or work or something like that. But spiritual books or psychological books or self help or whatever, I just let them ring in my soul and see what resonates and penetrates.

Could you be a bit more specific? What is it that you like / don't like about the job and the people?

What I know from dudes studying math with me back then is this: some of them failed big time in the first and second semester, but some of them that failed (many quit of course) even ended up getting a math Phd. So you never know. If you like what you are doing, I would give it at least another year before you go or are forced to go. Or are there any obvious options that you have right now?

Irina Tweedie and Anandamayi Ma are amazing. And also Bernadette Roberts. -
You could get a smartphone app for training speed reading or do some kind of kinesiological exercises (e.g. juggling) that focuses you and balances left- and right-brain. Edit: I have that app and it's really good: http://www.heku-it.com/reading-trainer-app-android/

depends on who does the retreat and what structure it has. generally, I would follow the instructions you are given.

What about posting on other Youtubers-channels and then voting yourself up? Or doing crosspromotions or interviews? Here in germany there is a couple that boosted their internet-business-career by doing some kind of online seminar where they interviewed 30 spiritual teachers, including Byron Katie, Mooji... I don't know of any forums though... only maybe facebook groups.

Have you practical experience or just theoretical experience?
-
@cetus56 http://www.palikanon.com/english/wtb/b_f/bhavanga_sota.htm Did it today. Interesting experiences. I cannot really tell what exactly causes what, so there might be other influences that day, but that's what happened. Meditation was alternating between sleepiness and dropping into some sort of peace. Then during dream some of the awareness seemed still there. Different aspects seemed to resolve themselve and dreams were easier to remember. I don't know if it's even helpful to describe or evaluate the experiences. I'm not really interested in that, but I certainly will experiment with the practice as such the next days.

It did not work today, but I will try it again. I set the clock at 3hrs but woke up at 2.55hrs and was laying there already awake and decided not to do it. But I will try again today.

The end justifies the means. Orange. For some it might be interesting.

I certainly will do it again out of curiosity. Was tired during it. Didn't even make it to 40min. Very tired next morning, but also somehow more present/alive. Dreams were more colourful (compared to last days), more witnessing, less entanglement during dream. But this could have also other reasons.

@Sri McDonald Trump Maharaj I'm in. 40min.

Reminds me of this one, goes something like this: A young father meditates. He is doing the Metta-Meditation, a meditation on loving-kindness. It goes pretty well as suddenly his little daughter comes in. "Daddy, daddy..." The father angrily yells: "GET OUT OF HERE, CANT YOU SEE I'M MEDITATING ON LOVING KINDNESS!!??!!!" -

Maybe you just tap into certain layers of trauma. With accidents there can be a trauma afterwards: one layer is the "fight or flight" response which can show up as panic, restlessness or disoriented running around (flight) or intense aggression and hostility towards outside or oneself (fight). If the body mind has not the resources to deal with it it goes to to a layer of freeze, immobility, depression or collapse. And back and forth between the two layers. I'm not saying this is the case with you but it is not uncommon that people have reactions like that. A book which describes this and solutions is: https://www.amazon.com/Unspoken-Voice-Releases-Restores-Goodness/dp/1556439431/. -
"What Is Awareness?" is actually a really good question for self-inquiry.

In what country exactly do you live?

No. -
Just select one teacher and then stick with that. Good introductions as audiobooks could be Shinzen Young, Jack Kornfield or Adyashanti.
