@A_v_E there’s certain conditions that need to be met, e.g., exhibits a minimum of 5 out of 6 criteria over t duration of time -
As a Ukrainian I can spot a lot of russian propaganda in these threats as well. Some of the newly created propaganda I read is becoming so predictable already, I feel I can start creating pro russian propaganda myself now (the key is to portray russia as the victim, not having other choice, throw in some “Ukrainians are nazis” narrative, and for a certain audience you can also throw in how this is a peacekeeping mission) Also, a lot of people in these threads have legit empathy impairments/mental disorders and can also be very aggressive/provocative on purpose (which can be very subtle). It’s hard to stomach their comments for someone who does have empathy and some people are better at picking up on this subtle aggression.

@Sucuk Ekmek lol, in russia the government still thinks it’s a “mental disorder” This answer is a bunch of nothing. -
Please share which psychologists assessments you have watched to make such a statement? The ones that I saw are all pretty nuanced. Plus I watched russian psychologists do a review on him, not just western, even pre-invasion. Also, like I said, many “political analysts” lack a psychological background. This analysis requires a holistic approach. Having someone “autistic” analyzing this from a logical POV is not taking a “holistic” approach. Why do you dismiss and belittle psychology so much? Do you think that psychologists are inherently incapable of understanding the political situation and of “deep thinking”? For example, what makes a film director like Oliver Stone more qualified than a psychologist? Is it perhaps because a film director is more “flashy” and “charming”? His job is to make a product sell, to make it interesting to his audience - not necessarily to get to the truth. I also feel you’re underestimating what I, and others, are trying to argue here quite a bit and you seem to be very stubborn about your own POV. You presume a lot about the people here without trying to understand their POV. Do you think you yourself are autistic? Are you aware of your limitations or do you truly believe you’ve reached some unmatched levels of development? Do you know much about personality types? Do you see that you tend to lean more towards logical/factual aspects of the situation and undermine the emotional/psychological side of it? Do you understand that people who lean in a different direction, are not “unable to see outside one's own worldview” but rather see things that you don’t? Many people are trying to tell you “I see your point, but” - why don’t you see that, but instead presume they are ignorant?

So all the PhD psychologists that see him as having a mental disorder are wrong, and you are right? How much do you know about personality disorders? You can watch his videos all you want, but what good is it if you don’t have the training and understanding of mental disorders? I invite you to review the definition of antisocial personality disorder and argue how putin is not demonstrating these traits: “APD (Antisocial Personality Disorder) is a DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fifth edition), diagnosis assigned to individuals who habitually and pervasively disregard or violate the rights and considerations of others without remorse. People with Antisocial Personality Disorder may be habitual criminals, or engage in behavior which would be grounds for criminal arrest and prosecution, or they may engage in behaviors which skirt the edges of the law, or manipulate and hurt others in non-criminal ways which are widely regarded as unethical, immoral, irresponsible, or in violation of social norms and expectations. Those with APD often possess an impaired moral conscience and make decisions driven purely by their own desires without considering the needs or negative effects of their actions on others. Impulsive and criminal behavior is common. The terms psychopathy or sociopathy are also used, in some contexts synonymously, in others, sociopath is differentiated from a psychopath, in that a sociopathy is rooted in environmental causes, while psychopathy is genetically based. The term antisocial may be confusing to the lay public, as the more common definition outside of clinical usage is an individual who is a loner or socially isolated. The literal meaning of the word antisocial can be more descriptive to both the lay public and professionals. To be anti-social is to be against society: against rules, norms, laws and acceptable behavior. Individuals with Antisocial Personality Disorder tend to be charismatic, attractive, and very good at obtaining sympathy from others; for example, describing themselves as the victim of injustice. Some studies suggest that the average intelligence of antisocials is higher than the norm. Antisocials possess a superficial charm, they can be thoughtful and cunning, and have an intuitive ability to rapidly observe and analyze others, determine their needs and preferences, and present it in a manner to facilitate manipulation and exploitation. They are able to harm and use other people in this manner, without remorse, guilt, shame or regret. It is widely stated that antisocials are without empathy, however this can be disputed, as sadistic antisocials will use empathy to experience their victim's suffering, and derive a fuller pleasure from it (Turvey, 1995). This is depicted in the classic work A Cask of Amontillado by Poe, as the main character entombs another man alive “...then I heard the furious vibrations of the chain. The noise lasted for several minutes, during which, that I might hearken to it with the more satisfaction, I ceased my labours and sat down upon the bones.” (Poe, 1846 ). Some research also suggests that sociopaths and psychopaths do have degrees of empathy, but with an innate ability to switch it off at will. (Meffer, Gazzola, den Boer, Bartells, 2013). This connection to empathy may give hope to future successful treatment as it suggests individuals with APD may be trained.”

You are not just capturing putin’s most “angry moments”. There are whole books on Hitler and his “case” is used in various psychological studies even though none of these psychologists sat him down in their office. Just as are cases on famous serial killers. These are not your regular joe people, there is enough info from media, interviews, statements from people in their close environments, and their direct decisions and actions for a thorough psychological diagnosis.
-
I trust the PhD psychologists to be able to do the assessment “remotely”. Once again, the studies on psychopathy and narcissistic personality disorders are often done “remotely”, by studying the patterns of the “damage” caused by such individuals and studying the victims of the abuse. Once again, I would appreciate if you answered my question and not attack me with a question in response. How much do you know about cluster B personality disorders? If you don’t know much about those, how can you keep dismissing what I am saying? This is intellectual abuse.
-
That is not factually true. Like I said, rarely you get a chance to sit down a psychopath voluntarily and diagnose them. I am not asking people to believe my word and my assessment, I am asking people to look up putin’s psychological assessments done by PhD psychologists and psychotherapists and to learn about mental disorders themselves, instead of just throwing/dismissing labels. I repeat my question, how much do you know about cluster B personality disorders? Political critics often lack the clinical psychological background. I highly encourage people to take a more wholistic approach.
-
These are not “labels”, but defined, identifiable clinical disorders. There is no “nuance” and there shouldn’t be any “mental masturbation” when it comes to mental disorders. What you are calling “finding nuance” is just your laziness and unwillingness to learn about mental disorders. Again, before posting another comment and dismissing work of PhD doctors, I recommend you read at least one article on this. It’s very hard to argue with someone if they are unwilling to learn. Honestly, it feels like arguing with a “flat Earther”.

The thing is that we all analyze people from our own frame of reference - if we are psychologically healthy, we inherently assume that the other person is psychologically healthy too. It is very hard to understand a narcissist/psychopath for someone who doesn’t know what it’s like to be a narcissist/psychopath and doesn’t even know about the disorder. This is exactly why psychopaths can manipulate healthy people so easily. To understand psychologically disordered people you need to understand their psychological disorder. Psychopaths are very charming, in some cases very intelligent, and appear very normal to untrained eye.
-
That is factually false, and you don’t have any evidence of that. Since you are attacking my character, I will leave this discussion with you as I believe you are just doing this for attention. Again, you only learned about the situation in Ukraine 4 days ago, and you just recently found out that russia is not a communist country (LOL), I don’t think you posses the knowledge to have an educated opinion on the situation.

@Preety_India Trauma is often the underlying cause of psychological disorders. They are either inherited or caused by trauma. Regardless of the reason of their disorder, these disorders are near impossible to cure - nowadays there are still no working cures. These people are a danger to society and anyone around them and, unfortunately, but in my opinion, the only solution right now is to remove them from the society. Empathizing with them, is not productive whatsoever. And this is exactly what I mean, people overusing the terms by labeling their ex bf “narcissists”. This is not an argument of “soft” vs “hard” leader, this is an argument of “mentally disabled” vs “psychologically healthy”. If mentally stable people were in charge of the world, we wouldn’t be having all these disasters.
-
Having a mental disorder does not mean that you are stupid. From Diagnostic and Statistics manual of Mental Disorders, version 5 (the most recent manual therapists adhere to when diagnosing mental disorders): “Some studies suggest that the average intelligence of antisocials is higher than the norm. Antisocials possess a superficial charm, they can be thoughtful and cunning, and have an intuitive ability to rapidly observe and analyze others, determine their needs and preferences, and present it in a manner to facilitate manipulation and exploitation. They are able to harm and use other people in this manner, without remorse, guilt, shame or regret.” Note that Antisocial can be used interchangeably with Psychopath, psychologists still haven’t set a proper differentiation between the terms.
-
It’s not how psychopath/narcissists work. If he ever was to have a therapy with a psychologist, he would complain about how people don’t understand him, how it’s everyone else’s fault, how he is the victim, try to manipulate the psychologist to believe him, etc.
-
Stop trolling.. I encourage you to learn about the psychology of personality disorders as well and not to dismiss and belittle it. What do you know about cluster B personality disorders?
-
That is why I encourage you and others to learn about clinical mental disorders and to find qualified psychologists performing assessments of putin. Honestly, once you learn about these things it’s not that hard to see it. Unfortunately, terms such as “narcissist”, “psychopath” and “antisocial” have been very overused without learning about the underlying diagnosis. The word “crazy” is not a psychological disorder and not a psychological diagnosis, while these terms actually are, so people shouldn’t be throwing them around or they start getting dismissed. Another important distinction is the difference between Psychopathic Personality Disorder and Psychopathic Traits.
-
There are many videos online of psychologists analyzing Putin’s personality, even prior invasion. The biggest challenge of treating Psychopathy/Antisocial/Narcissistic disorders, is that those people are the last ones you will see voluntarily going to see a therapist and even more, committing to a treatment, they don’t see anything wrong with them. So the idea of putin sitting down with a psychologist and getting a face to face diagnosis is laughable. Plus russia is about 20 years behind (my estimate) in development from the rest of the world. The field of psychology is still very unexplored, many people still think it’s a mambo jumbo there. Here is a good video to help understand what I am saying.
-
Lol, I love it how you pick and choose the stuff I say just to have something to dismiss my argument FYI, when people talk about Ukraine and Russia ties, they mean it in a positive way “but we are brother countries ?”
-
It does, because then you understand better what you’re dealing with.
-
It is not the media, do you know anything about psychology of mental disorders? Do you understand that there is a legit clinical disorder called “antisocial PD/psychopathy”? Have you researched the disorder? I am sick and tired of this ignorance. You can’t dismiss the whole field of psychology and the analyses done by phD clinicians in the field of psychology and psychiatry….. If people are clinically disordered, they must be removed from the positions of power.
-
I just want to say that the notion of Ukrainian and Russian “historical and cultural ties” is a LIE! The century long russian propaganda. This so called “tie” is genocide, violence, and blood of Ukrainian people, centuries of it. To say that Ukraine and Russia have “historical and cultural ties” is to say Jews and Nazi Germany have “historical and cultural ties” Anyone who learns Ukrainian history can see centuries of russian abuse over Ukraine.

Dr Grande’s psychological assessment of Putin below: -
Psychologist that work with victims of narcissistic abuse or any other cluster B personality disorder abuse teach the victims, as a first step, to recognize and label things for what they are.
-
Recognizing his mental disability would help to understand how to deal with such an individual. Years ago, most people had no clue about personality disorders, to a large extent a science of psychology was ridiculed and diminished. Nowadays, the world is waking up to this important discovery. EQ is becoming more important than IQ, especially since it is believed that cluster B personality disorders cannot be cured - you can improve your IQ, but you can never obtain empathy through any kind of work. Personality disordered people are very dangerous to the society, especially in positions of such power. That is why educating people and learning to recognize the patterns is becoming so important. Many argue that learning about personality disorders should be a part of school curriculum.
