Russians all over the world do hold this strong identity and pride about being russian, which is laughable because there is basically nothing to be proud about since world war 2, and even during that time, the truth is that soviets were monsters. The amount of russian tv shows, movies, sitcoms, popular songs about army life and russian army is insane. Every 20-40 year old there grew up watching sitcoms “Soldier” or “Cadet” which were the most popular ones, like “Friends” were in the west. -
Anyone can recommend an audiobook/podcast/video to watch to calm yourself down during a war?

Ok, back to ignoring you, you’re hopelessly lost in Russian propaganda, these vicious lies that cost Ukrainian people many lives. -

They are absolutely not equally corrupt, that’s a very simplistic and false assumption. Where are you from? -

Here is the difference between russia and Ukraine that you need to understand: Zelensky has been around since 2019, he is actually “new blood” in Ukrainian government. Ukraine is a democratic country, sure our government has issues, but it’s not a dicktator-mafia state like russia or belarus, our leadership has changed multiple times over the years. We’ve had problems with russia way pre-Zelensky. It’s a good thing he banned those parties, that should’ve been done years ago, those are corrupt russian puppets (imo banning them is not enough, they should be sent into prison). We’ve also had russian-backed TV channels that were trying to spread same russian propaganda in Ukraine, surprise-surprise, again, those should’ve been banned years ago. If you actually open your mind and hear what I am saying for a 1000s time on this forum - a person who actually knows how Ukraine thinks - Ukraine wants nothing to do with russia, Ukraine wants economic opportunities, it wants to get rid of corruption, it does not want to follow the same path to a shithole russia has been on for years. -
@Galyna I am really sorry to hear that I can’t imagine how hard it is when your closest people are like this. I hope your grandparents are well and you will hear from them soon, they have been evacuating people slowly. I have heard many stories like yours , it’s really crazy. Our distant family in Russia stopped taking to us shortly after 2014, last thing they said is that we were all “crazy in Ukraine”.

Lol, doesn’t mean anything. I have a friend who is originally from Belarus, lived in North America since grade 3, and still buys and spreads all the pro-russian propaganda. You don’t need to be born and live in russia per se to support russia -

Don’t wanna engage with this lying russian troll, but I just can’t resist anymore - here are the temperatures for the month of March in Nikolaev: -

To me what’s especially shocking is that this person thinks that Ukrainian culture is 30 years old…..
-
I can somewhat understand any Slavic language too if they speak slowly… do you understand all Slavic languages have similarities?
-
You are right, russia never saw Ukraine as a separate culture and with its own identity, that is the mentality your president has as well, and that is why the tragedy is happening in Ukraine right now. And of course a russian like you couldn’t give a shit of what a Ukrainian person is saying, you know better, right? Who are Ukrainians to think that they have their own culture? What do they even know? You don’t even see how abusive, ignorant, and discriminating what you’re saying is.. The funny part is that Ukrainian culture is older than russian culture..
-
What you are saying is total bullshit. Ukrainian is more similar to Polish than it is to russian. Russians don’t even understand Ukrainian lmao. Again, you are completely deleded and brainwashed on this matter, like all russians are. I am Ukrainian, I think I know better. The reason why russians have relatives in Ukraine is because the soviets used to “move people around” and “re-shuffle” cities so that people don’t start forming groups and protesting. There were also massive genocides of Ukrainians, those killed populations were then replaced by Russians. You sure you learned history?
-
That is russian propaganda, Ukraine always had its own separate identity and with that logic all the Slavic languages are just a dialect of russian…. Man russians are doomed thinking the world revolves around them… Ukraine and russia are not the same, never were and never will be. I suggest you study some Ukrainian history because you have a huge gap there, like many russians. History is taught in a completely deluded way in russia.

You keep on shitting on many people here and acting as if you’re better than everyone else because you are “able to see the situation from multiple views”, that everyone else is biased here, that everyone else here is lazy and closed minded. I don’t want to engage with you, because I think you just want attention, be it negative or positive, and don’t want to hear/read what other people are actually saying. I have said many times before, pointing out NATO’s alleged hypocrisies is one of putin’s propaganda techniques to justify the war that is happening right now.

I haven’t, on purpose, said anything about Africa or some “other poor country”, I am focusing on Ukraine and not diverging, I especially don’t like talking about something I am not fully educated on. There is two kinds of people in this world, one kind when they go through hard times they say “I don’t want anyone to suffer the way I did” and another kind is “I suffered, why shouldn’t they”. You sure are the second kind. I do wonder, however, if people would bring up Africa and “some other poor country” in an argument if Canada, England or France were bombed.

@vizual that is a classic russian propaganda. Way back in 2004 during the Orange Revolution which happened because the elections were proven to be falsified in favour of Yanukovych - a russian puppet, an ex pocket thief convict, and a complete idiot who couldn’t connect two words together (kinda like Kadyrov in that aspect). So the Revolution began with Yushchenko eventually taking over office as he was the one who actually won the election. Russia, of course, couldn’t make peace with that, so they poisoned Yushchenko. Five years later, Yanukovych “miraculously” gets elected again. He promised to sign the European trade agreement, but refuses to do so last minute. Students come out to protest this, as Ukraine is not doing well economically, and refusing an opportunity like this, was just futile. Students get severely beat up by special police forces. More people come out to protest this insane treatment of students - Ukraine is not russia, and protests are allowed, this kind of behaviour of police towards peaceful protests is not tolerated in Ukraine. As protests grow, so does police brutality, now they are shooting and killing many protestors. Long story short, pro-Russian president flees to russia, a new president gets elected. Russia wants to keep de-stabilizing Ukraine in order to stop European integration by funding pro-russian rebels in the eastern part of Ukraine. These rebels have high grade military equipment and many have russian passports, yet Russia denies its involvement. The classic garbage fed to russians is that Ukraine is the one “killing innocent Russians” in Eastern Ukraine. -
Ukraine is a democratic country with stable government. Ukraine literally hasn’t done anything to provoke this war other than be independent. I am sure you are no expert nor care about the situation in Middle East or Africa, you are just monkeying pro-russian propaganda.
-
Watch this video, you can start at 7:00 minute mark if you don’t want to watch the whole thing: What you are saying is again putin’s propaganda. So you suggest that the world just peacefully ignores innocent children and civilians being killed in thousands in less than a month? Don’t you see that this is exactly what putin wants and that this is a part of his propaganda?
-
So how about you learn the Ukrainian situation? Do you not see how ignorant and stupid it is to have/voice any opinion on the subject matter if you don’t have any clue of it’s history? It’s like me going to a brain surgeon and telling him how he is doing his job wrong….
-
Lol, don’t go on, I got the idea *facepalm*
-
Oh really, what’s the “equipment” you need to have to “take on” this issue?
-
Just like many pro-russians you are not seeing Ukraine as an independent country with its own decisions and ideas and you’re being completely disrespectful. I am Ukrainian, Ukraine wanted to be independent from russia and tried to separate itself from it for centuries. The world is just learning what russia is like now, vs Ukraine has seen all this bs for ages and wanted to separate itself from it - the people being killed if they oppose the government, dicktatorship, insane amounts of poverty and corruption, why would any sane country want to be a part of that? Also, Ukraine has been abused by russia for centuries, russia tried to destroy Ukrainian language, prosecuted Ukrainian ingellegencia, you would get killed if you wrote any literature in Ukrainian language, starved millions of people by taking their food away, all bullshit, lies and violence all throughout Ukrainian history. What you are saying is 100% russian propaganda that is completely factually false. Like I said in the past, if you were to be robbed of 99% of all you have vs being robbed of 20% of all you have, which one would you pick?

I think to understand what is causing this disparity it makes sense to look at the gender breakdown by college majors. Note that not all college degrees are equally useful and “hard” to get. Removing some of the gender biases would also help to “level out” the field. For example, careers such as nursing, teaching, etc., are “traditionally” considered to be more feminine. -
These “NATO is more/just as evil” claims are basically same to straight out supporting the war and actually going and killing innocent children and people in Ukraine. Many of the so called western “intellectuals” think they are being “edgy” and “wise” to use this war to point out “western hypocrisies” in these overly simplified unnuanced ways. In reality what it does is just give people a “peace of mind” and an excuse not to do anything about the war and genocide of innocent people - “well, NATO has done some bad things too, fair is fair, yawn, let me proceed with my nice day now”. This is indeed a privilege of all privileges.
