  1. If you want to use The Truman Show analogy, I would say that you are both Truman (main character) and Cristof (show creator) at the same time, just not aware of that fact.
  2. Past and future are not real, only the present moment exists.
  3. You are God who dreams the entire human life to hide that fact from itself.
  4. I guess it's through the same awareness.
  5. I opened this thread, I wrote this post, I'm reading it and now I'm responding to it.
  6. From my perspective, I can only be sure that I'm aware, I don't know about you. You can be just a text appearing on my screen.
  7. Isn't NOW eternal? That would mean I'm creating forever. There was no time when I wasn't doing that.
  8. A philosophical zombie or p-zombie argument is a thought experiment in philosophy of mind that imagines a hypothetical being that is physically identical to and indistinguishable from a normal person but does not have conscious experience, qualia, or sentience. Is this a true representation of what people actually are in this dream that we call reality?
  9. What was before the Big Bang?
  10. @GreenWoods Yes, that seems like a reasonable thing to do to avoid destroying the illusion too soon. @Nahm I still have to reach that level of understaning. Solipsism seems like a step into the right direction. After which I have to realise that even my own ego is a philosophical zombie.
  11. @GreenWoods Interesting explanation. But illusion of connectedness of those sensations to the body is very persistent. Pain will go away only if you treat wound on your leg. Nothing else will make it feel better except that.
  12. @iboughtleosbooklist So you already started this thread for infinite number of times?
  13. @iboughtleosbooklist But you only remember your current life and after that you will forget about it and start over. That way you won't feel like existing for eternity.
  14. @GreenWoods But the pain, hunger and thirst my body feels seem very real to me. Is that just an illusion that God creates to fool itself? @Swarnim I don't feel like a p-zombie. It feels as if I'm being conscious from my first person's experience.
  15. My first memories are from the time when I was around 4 years old in the kindergarten. I always thought that I don't have any older memories because my brain wasn't developed enough at the time. Recently, I realised I don't even have a brain and all my memories are actually being imagined in the now, so that argument isn't valid. Why am I not creating any older memories then? Why don't I remember my birth and being a baby? I know all of that is imaginary but what's the reason for not remembering it?
  16. @Mason Riggle Yeah, I agree with that, we're used to it so it seems completely normal to us. Reality could have been much different than it is now but I guess God designed it this way for a reason.
  17. @Mason Riggle That makes sense. God really did its job in ensuring that this dream doesn't lack any logical consistency. Having no memories of your early childhood because of brain development is a really convincing story.
  18. @Mason Riggle Interesting perspective. You really think it would be so devastating to my ego if I had memories from my birth till now?
  19. @LastThursday I guess memories give us an illusion of continuity of our lives. I was just wondering what's the reason to not remember ever since birth because that's our imagined beginning. @Mason Riggle I'm aware of that but why doesn't anything before that occure in the now as memory? Even as an imagination, I know it didn't really happen.
  20. When God realises the joke, does it stop being funny?
  21. But this could have been a threat to survival of my human body. Seems like a big risk for the dream itself.
  22. Yesterday, there was an earthquake near my city. It wasn't a pleasant experience, everything was shaking for couple of seconds. Luckily, there was no damage. Why did I imagine something like that? What was the purpose of it?
  23. Yeah, even our discussion about that is imaginary ? I'm from southern Europe, earthquake was around 5,0 Richter scale.
  24. Biologicaly speaking breathing, drinking, eating and sleeping are crucial for our survival. Without any of them, we would die really soon. But having in mind that death is an illusion, does that make all of these things illusions as well? Do they only exist so this dream seems more realistic but without any use in keeping us alive?
