@Swarnim It's a lifestyle I believe in Yet ever regrettably, not quite of my own accord What has helped you, so far? You've made progress in the right direction, what contributed the most to realigning your actions with your intentions? Have you tried doing a really deep 80/20 dig with questions like those? -
softlyblossoming replied to Psych2Awak3n's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Psych2Awak3n Maybe they want us to make our thoughts match the same as their thoughts, and it will bring us closer to their way of seeing the world? Or perhaps they want to point out that who we are is an illusion that only exists in our own thoughts, and underneath it we are what we really are, which is already underneath and is only being obscured. Chances are, I'm about as sure as you are when it comes to this one. What do you or others think of my hypotheses? What would you change to make them more reasonable? -

@Nos7algiK You'd think an Enlightened being would have more self control, right? I don't know exactly what to make of it. -

@Tyler Durden Which one are you? What if someone was going crazy, but they thought it was part of getting enlightenment? What would you say to them? Not being a devils advocate, these are totally real questions thru n thru. Thank you, Tyler. -
@Carl-Richard What do YOU think about Jan Esmann? And what about Gareth Duignam, for the matter?

@Leo Gura I loved your meditation advice on Curt Jaimungal's podcast, to still/silence thoughts - working wonderfully for me to rapidly induce awakenings on/off the cushion - takes me 10 minutes to brute force my way into awakening with this. Neural annealing is writing new, higher valance, neuronal pathways on the brain - so training ourselves to perceive/be a certain way by just doing/being it - which I imagine would be amplified on a psychedelic. So an example of neural annealing would be me bringing my mental activity to a very low level by silencing thoughts, and then just staying there and letting those new modes of being/perception be wired into the brain more deeply Faith/Will is when you bring about a change in reality just by inclining to it (like imagining money in a lucid dream and it appearing, or willing yourself into positive emotions in daily life). -

@Leo Gura Hi, Leo. Have you heard of the Pure Land Jhanas? I've been wondering if maybe when you become conscious that you're God, what you're doing is rapidly constructing a highly multi-facetted (multi-factored in Buddhist terminology (jhana factors equating here to the many facets of awakening) custom/compound jhana. Have you ever thought of it that way? Is your psychedelic method neural annealing on 5MeO then rebuilding the new grooves in daily life by practicing Waking Up with Faith/Will? -
@vizual @peanutspathtotruth I think it's part of his artistic style. One of the forum users did an interview with him (The Empty Nature of Reality with Frank Yang) and he sounds coherent to me here, and he also explains his worldview and definition of Enlightenment.

@roopepa Whatever's comfortable. I'm in the fuck SDS camp right now. -

@BipolarGrowth I don't get Frank Yang's anti-God thing. Gura's God and Yang's Natty State is two words for the exact same thing, surely. God is that which is beyond all beyonds blah de blah. Natty State has a similar enough definition. What's the big deal? Walks like a duck, talks like a duck, it's a duck. It's like Yang is trying to debate Gura, but puts his fingers in his ears and goes "la la la la la" when it's his opponents turn to speak. Incredibly inspiring. He's so well spoken in the interview too, really poetic description of what happened. I love MGK, and I wouldn't be too surprised if he's awake ? -

@lmfao That sounds like a really difficult set of circumstances to try to develop yourself in, I do hope you feel a bit better again sooner rather than later. I do the same thing a lot, where I default to rage/anger/similar just to motivate myself enough to do the things that will hopefully get me out of all the confusion and suffering. My diet's really rubbish at the moment too, I'm going to try learning how to detox and maybe it will help. Diet is just so difficult because when I feel really upset, I can't even control myself enough to not just go ahead and seek comfort in junk food. To resolve this, I've been trying to fully feel my emotions more, and although it doesn't always work to make them any better, it does seem to help me to calm down a little if I can do it for several hours or days on end. Something you could try, I suppose. I've also been trying to learn a meditation technique called 'thoughts in the room' that is designed for immediate relief from emotional/mental suffering like anxiety thought-loops - I'm learning it from this video, which is where I first heard about it earlier today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsyP80BydV4 Maybe some of what you're experiencing is symptoms associated with being in the third vipassana jhana, which I learned about on dharmaoverground.org. Your description sounds kinda like what the 'Knowledge of Reobservation' probably feels like. Wishing you all the best to get through all this to somewhere better. I'm gonna use you as the object for my meta meditation tonight, homie. -
@Zeroguy Oh?

softlyblossoming replied to BipolarGrowth's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Fearless_Bum It's a meditation technique where you select a sense door as your object and "note" (mentally verbalize a label) for whatever you find there - e.g. for the body as object, we might note "warm" "cold" "tense" "tingles" "soft" "dense" "sparse" etc, and perhaps add the body part to our note, or weather or not it is a pleasant or unpleasant sensation e.g. "cold calf pleasant" "tension upperback unpleasant". I do one note per out breath, but some people like to double that and do one on the in and on the out, and some just freestyle the rhythm as it comes naturally to them. I usually do not note body part and pleasant unpleasant, as that's too much chit chat for me, but sometimes I will to switch things up. -
I agree with this. It's a stimulant, guys, c'mon now.

@Fearless_Bum Do you ever do mahasi noting? Sounds like it'd be optimal for this - spotting all those pesky unseen beliefs and so forth.
