Thank you. Bookmarked to take notes on later. Are there any other videos by Bikkhu Candana you would be happy to recommend? Cheers, Robert -

@itachi uchiha He doesn't make money from dhamma. I don't know where he gets his money from. Call up and ask him? Lol -
I don't think it's bad or should be avoided just because Leo says it has limitation. When I meditate, I like to use logic to notice and make sense of the law of cause and effect. For example, what causes suffering, and what ends it? Who knows, maybe if I can answer that one precisely, I'll have learned how to meditate . Another way I think of it is like... Leo so often says this spiritual self-help stuff is about coming to a deeper understanding of reality, and he says that open-mindedness is very useful for doing that. So based on that my logic would be as follows: whilst I may not yet understand how to figure things out without using logic, if I keep my mind open to the possibility of being able to, maybe I'll get there one day. One way like to practice this is to set an intention to receive non-rational/non-logical/non-thought-based answers to my many questions about life, reality, spirituality and self-actualization, and then wait with my mind open to that possibility, even though I'm clueless as to what that kind of an answer would look like. Importantly, if I don't get an answer, I don't let that discourage me or use it as a reason to close my mind off to the possibility that maybe one of these days, I will. https://youtu.be/QFsFiDRwPqc I'm going to follow this thread because I really like the line of inquiry and think it might help me clear up potential unconsciously held misunderstandings in myself, thanks for making it! @Hulk, what do you think of my reply, and how would you answer your own question? Let's contemplate it together, mate!

How do you make love from scratch? -
softlyblossoming replied to Loba's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Personally, here is my best guess: How happy we are How happy we can be for no reason How deeply/fully we can feel our emotions / how in touch we are with them How quickly we can go from stressed to relaxed, how long we can stay relaxed, and how relaxed we can make ourself (with our own mind) How ethically we act Thanks, I enjoyed reading everyone replies. I hope everyone reading has a great day! -
softlyblossoming replied to Gabriel Joy's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Gabriel Joy I wish. I use Mahasi Sayadaw Noting and Goenka Body Scan for my goals, which are: Improved morality/kindness (the best measure of progress imo) Decreased depression & anxiety Stream entry I've also found great results with Glimpse Practice aka Pointing Out Instruction, which lots of people say is a particularly 'direct' technique. I learned how to do it from Shift into Freedom by Loch Kelly. Hope this helps. -

@BipolarGrowth I've bookmarked this thread because the discipline technique in the last paragraph, and the Greg Plitt Quotivation video, are simply exactly what I know a distant future me would love to be reminded of (and hopefully not forgotten)! Golden <3 stay awake keep dreaming ;D

@Salvijus There's no such thing as sober if you're never sober . Good question, I've also wondered this, but won't take anyone's word for it until I try psychedelics again. Maybe you could test it by doing psychedelics for 1 month, and then going for sober practice only for 1 month, and then comparing which month saw more consciousness embodied. That's probably similar to what I would try, although I don't know anything about proper psychedelic protocols like when or how often to take them, so that timescale may be wrong. It sounds, to me, on paper, like something someone could get clarity about by running a proper little experiment, so I thought I'd play my role and throw the idea up on people's screens —of course, this is not meant to imply you shouldn't still ask around and get expert opinions, afterall I've been wondering the same thing, so I'm as curious as you are, haha. -
softlyblossoming replied to QandC's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
I was planning on doing precisely that – Buddhist meditation – on the psychedelics. What should I do instead? -
softlyblossoming replied to QandC's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Leo Gura Is this a good idea? I feel like doing this would allow me to become more disciplined, and so take more of the steps necessary to attain God Realization. How much discipline will be needed for the highest spiritual attainments (I have very average brain chemistry)? -

Notice the mystery of impermanence, you are a continual mystery and surprise to yourself, constantly changing, always entertained, you never know what will be until it is, close your eyes, you didn't know what would appear but u effortlessly and spontaneously created it, rub your eyes, you didn't know that shape. Really get in touch with this on the most profound and sensate level. That's the cure :). That's infinite entertainment effortlessly unfolding. Paraphrased from the epilogue episode of the headless way on Sam Harris' Waking Up meditation app. -

softlyblossoming replied to Tyler Durden's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Tyler Durden Cool thread, read through your discussion with BenG. Unfortunately, being able to change reality in the way you wish, at least without throwing a potentially dangerous formula for HPPD into the mix, is magical thinking. Spirituality is more about changing your relationship to reality than bending reality to your will. There's a great scene from the matrix about just this, actually. https://youtu.be/uAXtO5dMqEI Fortunately, you won't physically die if this happens. However, it can certainly feel like you're forgetting large chunks of information about yourself. This forgetting is part of a metaphysical transformation that some, who've gone through the process, report to have "felt like dying". You aren't dying. If it makes you feel more comfortable with the process, which has a long track record of getting pretty creepy at times, try reframing it. For example, you could think of it like deleting the cookies and clearing the cache on your web browser, so that it runs faster. Not so scary now. Same old browser, right? Alternatively, you could think of the information you're forgetting as having been getting in the way of your remembering something else which will radically improve your luck in ways that just about everything else in life can't quite. For the best results, don't worry so much about getting the next great reframe from Leo or your other teachers, and just get creative! If you have the energy, make it a game to see how you can reframe unsightly situations in novel ways that you find personally empowering. When you get tired and don't want to play anymore, recall something simple that gives you just a little more peace of mind in the next moment. It's perfectly fine that you're asking these types of questions. And don't beat yourself up for having physical insecurities. The big old wide open void of forgetting is our pal on the spiritual path, and when you're ready to move on, she'll take good care of all these woes for ya. Back to the bad news. You need to stop looking back if you want to be able to sprint fast enough for long enough to totally leave your problems in the dust. Knowing how much pain they cause is a step in the right direction, and fully feeling pain might make a good next step. You can't wake up and live the rest of your life in someone else's body, but you absolutely can enjoy the body you've got. Godspeed, Tyler. -

softlyblossoming replied to EdgeGod900's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@EdgeGod900 This is a really good book to read once you've got a regular noting practice going, as the author has a lot of experience working with meditators using that method. It's a bit full-on, but the three chapters on the three characteristics also give instructions for 1-4 techniques each. -

DN#22 - Mahasatipatthana Sutta: The Four Foundations of Mindfulness ←"Many people consider this to be the most important Sutta in the entire Pali Cannon." —Leigh Brasington, famous Buddhist author Leigh also has a meta resource for the rest of the suttas on his website, as well as several highly respected modern texts, all in English – see: http://www.leighb.com/studydn.htm If those are all a bit wordy or too archaic for your tastes, here's a very straightforward (yet somehow surprisingly comprehensive) guide to the very popular 'Noting' technique*: http://the-wanderling.com/vipassana_meditation.html *Noting is only one method of practicing vipassana, but it's the one I found the most results with in my own explorations of Buddhist religious meditation. It's worth spending a few tens of hours with before giving up, imo. PM me if you have questions about noting, or just reply here and tag me, don't be shy or worry about asking stupid questions, and The Wanderling's post should have you more than covered to get started with noting. Best of luck, p.s. love the pfp, he vape ? -

Technique: Irrespective of your paycheck or how much of an asshole the higher ups are, be the best goshdarn employee you can be. Mindset/Attitude Reframe: You aren't there to trade your precious time in for a paycheck any more, but to serve selflessly for the highest good of all, near and far. Benefits: Soul-sucking work can feel (the precursor to become) meaningful again Improve your self esteem and radiate that out to colleagues, which improves theirs too Dissolve the ego (sense of separate self standing between you and Enlightenment) Make your bosses adore you, improve workplace relationships and atmosphere/culture Cultivate resourcefulness and find new ways to be a better person wherever you are, for the highest good of all What are your thoughts? Have you tried it? How did you improve it? Any thing you think ought to be added, or edits you'd make to what's there? e.g... An alternative mindset/attitude shift that worked better for you? What auxiliary process did you, intentionally or unintentionally, go through that made the transition easier? What benefits I have I forgotten to include? What about cons/downsides ? Best wishes, and hope this improved someone's day at work (and if it didn't and totally backfired and made you more miserable, just remember that those good deeds you produced will have wide-ranging ripple effects (which are like your spiritual children ?)). Seriously, visualise those ripples! You did that! Nice! -
