On psychedelics when I lost my phone I felt like I lost a part of myself. As if I had lost my arm.

There seems to be indicators that we're gonna get Artificial General Intelligence (by any definition you want) in the coming few years. This means AI that is as capable as the best humans (or better) in any intellectual domain. For example AI that is as good as the best software engineer. Here is a really great systems thinker whose focus is on AI and AGI:

I've had similar thoughts too (AI will never be able to create something actually *new*), but we simply do not know. GPT-4 currently has some small ability to create novel things, for example poems. There's a term in the AI space called 'grokking', where an AI model suddenly learns an entirely new skill without being prompted to do so. For example ChatGPT learned how to translate text between different languages. This ability was gained suddenly once enough training had been done. -
😂😂😂😂

So you already have a few, damn.

That's not the root cause of the conflict. The root cause is survival of national identity. Both the Jews and Palestinians view their own nation as supreme over the other. The fact that the Jews view themselves as the "chosen people" is just how the above mechanism has expressed itself in Jews. -

Great news, sorry if it's already been shared: https://www.axios.com/2023/10/15/israel-resumes-water-supply-to-southern-gaza-after-us-pressure Not only the news itself, but that it came from US pressure. -

In my opinion it's rather stupid to treat Christianity and Islam as assymmetric. These religions largely fulfil the same purpose and came about due to the same survival incentives. Both religions have the same ability to be warped in favour of a particular survival agenda. They can both be used to that regard equally. Christianity was used to teach black folk that they are inferior to whites, and that slavery is justified. Likewise, Islam is used to justify terrorism. But this is because of the survival conditions that these people find themselves in. If you've listened to a single word Leo has said about politics, it's always about SURVIVAL. Survival agenda comes first. The religious justification comes after. -

He's enacting the production of a public option (generic) for insulin at $30. That's good enough. -
I've noticed that for me a large component for me to connect with someone well is if I share my worldview with them. In order to connect well with people, I have to discuss spirituality, current global affairs, or something like aliens lol (a subset of "worldview"). Can anyone relate? What avenues do you connect with people through?

It's quite sickening how many people are suddenly fully on board with Israel, as if Hamas' attacks happened in a vacuum. Why do people think this way? @Breakingthewall Cut the Islamaphobic BS. -

That's nice. Is that an IRL group?

The whole point of these democrats is to represent corporations. Do you not see this? -
Obviously we already have ways to block useless websites such as this one , but what if you had a productivity assistant AI that: Is told what goals need to be accomplished today Observes what you are doing and lets you know if you're wasting time. The problem with outright blocking, for instance, reddit, is that sometimes you need a specific reddit page for productive purposes. The AI would be able to discern between whether you're wasting time or not. Integrates across all your devices Provides a way to manage all of your technology use at once. One of the problems I face with productivity tools is that I have to do like 10 different things to get my computer into full distraction-free productivity mode. I have to sign out of Discord, block "bad" websites, and enable an extension that turns YouTube into just a search bar. I don't necessarily do all of this every single time because that would be annoying, but it would be nice if you could have a single button you press and it turns all of your devices into "distraction-free" mode in an intelligent manner based on what you've told it you should be doing at this moment. Dynamically creates schedules, reminders. Allows the user to adjust these, of course. For example, if you tell someone important you'll have a meeting with them, the AI should prompt you whether you'd like to be reminded of this when it happens. Should I work on building this? Obviously there are major potential issues with this, at least the way I've presented it. What stops me from selling all your data to Mark Zuckerberg? Obviously one would hope that, if someone builds such a tool, it takes privacy very seriously. Another issue is that the AI might feel very invasive even if it doesn't give your data away, just because the whole point is that the AI always has at least a rough idea of what you're doing. Do you guys have any ideas on how this could be expanded on?

Yeah that's one of the million dollar questions. It could also be that they genetically modified humans into existence based off their own genes. Or there's somehow another genetic link between us. -

Cost of living is bad everywhere. The problem is too systemic to just blame Trudeau for it. I'd say one of the main factors is profiteering from the property market. Government needs to outright ban entities from owning more than three houses IMO. -
I can come up with 1000 solutions based on what you've said here. My brother, you just seem to be coming up with excuses. Example solutions: Just apply to those jobs that you feel "wouldn't suit you" anyway. See where they lead. Obviously you may be unqualified for some of those jobs, but I bet there's also jobs in that list that you're just uncomfortable about doing. Get your mom to take you to work every day until you can afford your own car. She seems like a supportive fellow.
