I can't really say what they experience first hand but Bentinho says infinity you can only "intuit" because it's beyond all that can be known. So that leans more toward a state of being, in my book. -

Same here. Bentinho Massaro on the other hand does (most of the time) and Adyashanti (always). -

I heard there's a new app for awakening predictability time. Enter your, age, sex, country of origin and level of ego and the app. gives you the exact time and location that enlightenment will happen. It's like a Spiritual GPS. -

This is a little off the subject but that reminded me of a scene in the movie "Tombstone" -

It's time to go beyond talk. -

Your in it now! That silent space of stillness that opens up after meditation is it. It's very subtle so it can be easily over looked. But it's always right here. And that is what you are. Sometimes after meditation that silence/stillness can become so thick and present and full that it feels as if you could almost scoop it out of thin air. Your in an ocean! You are the ocean! The ocean of awareness that is existence. Most people take awareness for granted. Don't make that mistake! Cherish it every moment. It's magical! -

Haha, I know how you feel. I'm going to need more proof that reality doesn't exist before I step in front of a moving bus. I knew someone years ago who put reality to the test while doing lsd. It was quite horrific! -

@Staples That's good stuff! After reading that I'm sitting here by an open door listening to a bird chirping in a nearby tree. But than I think, the bird's chirp I know only from sound that effects my ears as electrical impulse is sent to my brain/mind. The only way I know the outside world is indirectly. So where is the bird really located? And in relationship to what? Here's another good one.you look into a telescope at an object 250,000 light years away. Your literally looking back into time 250,000years. Some of what you are seeing, doesn't even exist any more. But you can see it in front of you. What does that tell you about light energy and consciousness? -
@Annetta That is ego talking, the illusion of what you are. Ego is consciousness in motion contained as the experience of time and space and precludes consciousness at rest as infinite awareness that resides beyond time and space. You are bearing the weight of the illusion of a limited self and carrying it through life, And even projecting it onto death. "Nothing but blackness for eternity" = the poor little ego without it's home of time and space, things and events, this and that ect. ect. Yea, that is scary- to the ego. Take a watch, it's going to be a l-o-n-g eternity! Either that or your ego will be back for more. You are infinite consciousness first and an ego/self second. haha it's not even second, it's an illusion that can only be sustained within the limitations of time and space because the ego itself is a limitation so it feels perfectly at home. But why not be infinite consciousness first as witnessing and appreciating the temporary experience through the physical body of all that exists? Than all this is becomes something amazing that just happens. But not happening to somebody but just happening. Your true self is the source of all of it but owns none of it.

@Shin I'm not sure if this is from a dream or not but I woke this morning with a deeper understanding of what God and death are. What we refer to as death and God is our original state of rest. It is is simply a state absence of the lust for life. When all lust for life is relinquished, all that remains is our original God state. A spark that ignites the lust for life brings us into this world than keeps us firmly connected to it as long as our life lasts. Unless you become enlightened or do 5meo for instance. So I'm seeing death in a very different way this morning. Death and God are simply a state of conscious rest that exists in the absence of the lust for life.

you are tripping, aren't you? :)) Yea. kind of. haha What is God is simply everything that is. Every sensation, emotion, sight, taste, smell, sound. This is it! To think that God could be anything "other" is the separation of self from all that exists. But so many people don't understand this. They believe that God is something other that has to be acquired or found when in fact they're seeing right past God. God is always right here, saying "Hello". All that needs to be done is to open the door and let him in. This is what I was thinking last night when I left that reply. Also I was contemplating how accepting that all is God is not as easy as it sounds. It means total acceptance of all things bar none. I think this is the hardest part for most to do including myself. To truly open that door and let God in can be overwhelming for the ego that would rather hide behind it's walls of security.

God is on my doorstep. Should I let him in? He's out there saying "Hello!"

@stevegan928 Your friend may find this Mooji video valuable. -
.@LRyan Yes that is ego sneaking in. It will play all kinds of games. Just return to the breath and go on. There is nothing here that can hurt you. And fear only has the power that you lend to it. In a way it's good that this happens because it's exposing the ego for what it is. So next time if that happens just acknowledge it for what it is and let it go. This too is part of the practice. Every time you hit that wall of fear, break through it. Only by doing so will you prove to yourself that ego/fear is just a paper tiger with no teeth.

@mp22 That sounds like a good meditation to me. You where observing an empty mind. All that remained was consciousness in it's purest form. Beyond thought/identification. Sweet!
-
@mp22 What do you mean by "it"?

cetus replied to LRyan's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@LRyan Sure there can be too much conceptual knowledge. Especially with the internet and so many different sources. Direct experience is key. When I started this journey there where just a handful of books out to read. Other than that you were on your own to discover what is true. The only other choice was go to India and hopefully find yourself a guru. -
cetus replied to electroBeam's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@electroBeam I've tried doing that once or twice before and yea it can be a little freaky starring into your own pupils. That's hard core stuff if you ask me and I don't really hear much about doing that practice. So I don't have much experience with that. I'd rather experience no-self in nature instead of in a mirror. But that's just me. -
cetus replied to electroBeam's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@electroBeam I'm sure it goes much farther, I can't even imagine from my perspective. IF you could stay at that level of consciousness 24/7 you would have to be a fu#@ing saint though. It requires absolute stillness of mind which is hard to maintain every moment. At least for me anyway. By the time I get back home it's all me again with the outside world on the outside. But it's nice to visit and insights can be gained from it. I guess it could be likened to a mini 5meo experience from what Leo explains in his endeavors about becoming one with the dirt on the bathroom floor and seeing God in it. Of course not that intense though. -
cetus replied to electroBeam's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@electroBeam I like to find a more secluded spot in the woods and just sit and listen to the wind. And usually a few birds will pass by. But yea, if you lose yourself out there it can be very transforming. If your mind is very still, it can feel as if God the creator is looking through your eyes. Contemplate on that. (hint-hint) As another practice I'll sometimes focus on the sound of one bird chirping in a nearby tree. Than bring that sound from the external world into the internal. It's wild b-c the bird's chirp honestly sounds like it's happening inside my head. Than I contemplate the location of the bird. See how the lines between self and other are becoming blurred now? So that's my losing the self in nature practice. I like to get away from familiar surroundings that keep me stuck in myself. Out there I can easily lose my sense of self and other. All the divisions fall away and everything becomes one field of existence. A none dual state, I guess that's called. For me that none dual state is realized with the least resistance in nature so it's easier to get a lasting direct experience to contemplate on. Or just sit with it. -
cetus replied to electroBeam's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@electroBeam I gotta suggestion for your practice. Get out into nature and try doing the same no-self practice you do but instead of looking into the mirror look into nature and lose yourself. On another note. You got me thinking now what is a face ? On a surface level nothing more than genetic make up that was influenced over millennia by it's environment into a certain configuration. A face has a long vertical protrusion in the center with two small openings at the bottom that allow the atmosphere (oxygen) to be inhaled. And conveniently located on the bottom so that rain doesn't fill them. Haha Than there's a larger opening below that is specifically designed for the consumption and breakdown of raw nutrients. Yea, that's a pretty sight. Than the eyes and ears. And what's up with that long stringy stuff growing out of the top of the head? (with the exception of Leo of course). People talk about seeing aliens in their sleep or whatever. Maybe they're just recollecting their earliest memories of seeing a human face for the first time. No wonder newborns cry! Woa!
