@Matt8800 So would it be fair to say it's like finding the key that unlocks the hidden door. BTW-Your explanation here is wonderful. -
cetus replied to Matt8800's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Matt8800 Why is it that it's so hard to let go of the identification with the limited self to experience something that has no boundaries? Especially for the first time. When it comes down to it that is all that is required for Samadhi. But that's much easier said than done. So I thought I'd ask since your exploring this. What is at the crux of it? -

@Empty You really need to integrate spirituality with life/friendship/family or they will think you turned into Mr. Spock. -

@Yonkon Does this sound like a Cult to you? On 4/9/2018 at 5:29 AM, Jed Vassallo said: I'm questioning everything I thought I knew. Now doubting all my thoughts and beliefs, I guess I'm doubting everything. Leo's response- Yes, that's good. That's the only way really. You must doubt everything until nothing remains. Spirituality is like extreme skepticism taken to its ultimate conclusion, consuming everything, and even itself. Until only pure being remains. Trusting me is not what I ask you to do. I ask you to be skeptical of everything equally, especially of your self. You cannot trust anyone in this work. Not me, not any guru, not Buddha. You must discover what is true in your direct experience. Direct experience is all that really matters. My words are only here to motivate you to look more closely at your direct experience and question everything society has taught you. There are no authority figures. The truth cannot be spoken or proven to you. You must seek it out all alone. Make sure you don't mistake my talking for truth. All the ideas I fill your mind with are NOT the truth. -

Probably best to just shoo them away. Go half Buddha on them! -

@TruthSeeker47 The blood from a stranger or even an animal. They go from one host to another. -

I often see people swat mosquitos against their arm or leg. What they don't realize is they are actually injecting themselves with the contents of the mosquito's stomach. -

@dude Actually that is fairly common so you have a good point there not to proceed in this case of a broken hand -IMO. -
@Phrae Whether physical or mental/emotional concerns you have, pace yourself and take it slow. No rush to be anywhere!
-
@Phrae You want assurance but everybody is different. Just from your statement here it would probably be best to stay with something you feel more comfortable with to be on the safe side. When you feel your ready you can take on something a bit more adventurous like this. Think about it. Coldness behind the eyes is freaking you out. How are you going to handle becoming completely detached from your body? Which could very well happen.

@Spacious Same here.

I started off improvising on the bongo's/ congas and getting into a breathing rhythm. After 30 mins. I switched to full shamanic breathing while listening to this with headphones. It' got trippy real quick at that point. Like a wakeful dream state. Lots of nooks and crannies yet to explore. Some visuals like morphing lights. Afterwards had a slight headache and also I noticed a bit of agitation which subsided. That will need further exploration. Reality was a bit wonky too afterwards.

@electroBeam I read all his books but no shrooms at the time. Just reading the books alone opened up a whole new world of possibility to explore. -

@electroBeam Ever read any of the books by Carlos Castaneda? -
cetus replied to electroBeam's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@electroBeam I haven't experienced that directly but after the experience I described I can see how Native Americans believed in an unseen "Spirit world" that connects everything. A Tao, so to speak. -

@electroBeam From this statement I have a good idea of what your talking about. It's sort of a Samadhi experience with reality. I have woods behind my house and I often sit there after meditation and allow the mind to become perfectly still until there is no separation between perception and reality. It's as if reality morphs into a single infinite field and becomes super hi definition and even the colors become brighter. It's clumsy to really put into words but I tried to explain it the best I can. I like the silence of the woods because it gets me away from familiar surroundings that keep me stuck in my identification. But in the woods I become pure perception with no associations/identifications and labels. It feels as if God is looking through theses eyes. -

@Haumea If you live to a ripe old age this too will be part of your experience of reality. It's all part of the ceremony of life. Nurture it spiritually and it will be a fruitful harvest. -
cetus replied to WildeChilde's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Reality is ceremonial. Just like the giant scissors. It celebrates as an expression of the absolute. -

I know the death of the body/mind is eminent. That's what makes life exciting. I know this "experience" could end at any moment. So I'm not sure where to place my vote. I guess at different times it can be any of them. Where is the "me" that votes? Is there one? -
