  1. Chances are that these alien claims is another attempt to pretend that the military got their hands some exotic technology that possess as a indirect threat to foreign military forces. That is how you read between the lines.
  2. Because one makes you say, "Wow I can't believe this is real!" While the other makes you say, "Wow I can't believe this is a dream!" They complement each other.
  3. Yeah, that sure is a big big part of it. But I suspect that the risk of getting lost in endless media consumption is partly because the nonsense online is influenced from the shrinking lack of sense that is happening out there as well. There may be new kind of oppertunities out there, but they may also be more niche and make less sense for anyone outside those groups. What I mean with less oppertunities is basically that you dont start to work at McDonalds and expect to buy yourself a big nice house with two cars after 3 years of har work there.. Or ever. But the peak certainly was like that, and many old folks stil put some of those old standard as a expectation on the young to this day. Thoughts?
  4. Dont you think that the opportunities are shrinking with growing population? You can work hard in todays world, and be sure to receive less than the prior generations standard. The opportunity to work hard for the sake of working hard, has always been true though. And that usually amounts to some sort of success.
  5. We lack the fundamental gratitude for life itself when our expectations of our selves and others can be boiled down to checking the cultural boxes of what we are "suppose" to do with life.
  6. Good question. To highlight that EGO is a subject to consider and think about as something that stands out. Rather than something to be taken for granted as a regular word, as it is usually tends to be used in casual online conversations. To make EGO into a casual word is a ego mistake.
  7. My take is that if you want to have total control, then you need a exceptional strong vision that goes with that control. Otherwise I believe that the happy medium is to let a certain degree of randomness to be part of the process to make it more enjoyable so you dont need to put to much emphasis on working your art, but also be playful with it.
  8. You cannot really think about how non-duality should or should'nt be looking. This is operating from within the control of the EGO. Here is how I would describe non-duality in a nutshell in comparison with the EGO. If the EGO is the explanation of a joke. Then non-duality is the laughter. The point is, they are inherently separate expressions of reality.
  9. From several years of interest in the spiritual stuff and the mind. My understanding of EGO is roughly this. EGO is basically a survival system of the mind. Inorder to have the ability to make a choice, your mind create associations that split the world into bits and pieces with our senses and then give them names. The mind also split events and feelings into separate "things". And this splitting creates what we call duality. When we operate from duality, we operate from judgment and calculations that takes in consideration all the different pieces that our mind have split, and try to fit them together again to our own advantage in our personal survival agenda. Even words as good and evil have different connotations depending on your minds interpretation of those words and what they mean to you already. Non-duality is the a mind free from splitting the worlds apart, and the colapse of meaning altogether. Good and evil is not only the same in a non-dual sense. There is no such things in the eternal now. Ego always have to operate from past to future where the illusion of itself can appear as something real to itself, inorder to survive by keeping all its bit and pieces away from merging back together.
  10. Videos are typically good for you to get the gist of things or a subject. While reading is the unfolding part the subject.
  11. If there is no such thing as fact... Is that a fact?
  12. I've hung out and drank some beer with a alien once. I asked if I could take a picture, but he said he needed to go home now or the wife would be mad.
  13. To infinity and beyond?
  14. You could ask the AI what the potential dangers with AI is.
  15. If 95% are stupid as you said, then the solution to that is to give them 5% of your attention. That would be the proportional balance of engagement.
  16. Chances are that they see alot more occurring problem within their field that is overlooked but obvious to them and not to the masses. And that those less skilled may also have more power and influence in the field already, so it's possible that the prodigy need to begin to adopt low positions or work way bellow their capabilities before they can move up and begin to develop themselves from their baseline talent to begin to get recognized and appreciated. This scenario could be a possible explanation to why it would create a lot of resentment in some with extraordinary talent who would need to do a lot of menial work before their talent becomes slowly accepted by the industry they work in, by building a name for themselves before their talent is accepted. Some artists may have been seen as worthless bums up until some particular moment when they have gained a large audience by either luck or enough exposure over time. Talent alone will not impress or be recognized by the masses most of the time imo.
  17. I think so, I have many wise rock friends who live high up in the mountains. They are good listeners but dont often say much.. Oh, and they all love Rock n roll.
  18. The post above is a good example of a common misconception of that meaninglessness must be a negative and isolated view of life. Just because life has no inherent meaning, doesn't mean that all things appear as meaningless to you as a individual. When Byron Katie who is a well known spiritual teacher was waking up from her miserable state of mind. She then said "Wow, there is nothing, there is NOTHING!" Her sense of meaning had collapsed altogether in that moment.
  19. Most decisions are made to avoid some amount of suffering. It may be socially, mentally or bodily, in a mixed variety of combinations. So the meaning you are talking about tend to be the knee-jerk reaction that we can ascribe to anything we like and have going for us already. There is no inherent meaning to anything. But there is inherent value to stuff, that is the difference. Values may create sustainable circumstances. But meaning is the positive beliefs projected on to values who are inherently indifferent to meaning.
  20. Confidence is such a complex subject really. To appear confident is not the same thing as having embodied confidence. That is the first stepp to be aware of. Confidence can also be split into a unproportionally amount across different parts of life for various reasons. Other than that, confidence tend to be linked and fused into a mix of, Experience/naivite/ knowledge. It may be much more, but those are the most critical examples I can come up with right now that are directly linked to confidence.
  21. Communication via words is initself a limitation. All it takes is to be aware of this when engaged within such limitations. If someone honestly tried to communicate the truth about what kind of music is the best kind of music. Would you think that such a claim could be communicated to you?
  22. Selfishness can be a very limiting and self punishing concept if you get to attached to the idea of moral purity of some sort. You may be selfish in various ways, and it's good to try to acknowledge how or why that is. But that is also a individual maturity process that usually require self reflection, and that takes time. To be a "selfish fuck" is as you can see, putting a certain value on what selfishness is to you at the moment. It is putting a bit of a negative spin on it. When really, selfishness is mainly a call for some self-reflection. It can be considered good if you want it, and bad if you resist it. In the end, it can benefit both yourself and others when consciously engaged with it. Self care is for example both selfish from one point of view, but also of benefit to those around them. So it's a bit of a double bind for the mind as you can see. In the end, selfishness is quite a useful consept, and nothing to feel bad about if that happen to be the case.
