  1. 😂😂 I stopped commenting on the war after I looked into it. It's far more complicated than what meets the eye.
  2. Is the forum biased for jews? Most of my friends who are pro Palestine and they are also right wing at other times. This forum which was supposed to be left wing/green is pro israel. I think this is the only issue where people are not flocking on terms of their typical ideology. People of both sides support both Israel and Palestine. Very interesting. ---- In other news, Ethopia is all set to invade Eritrea and China is preparing to invade Taiwan.
  3. I don't recommend working too hard at the gym. It's too dangerous.
  4. Abstraction is about finding the commonalities in different things. Understanding is realising the differences in a thing.
  5. You definitely need abstraction to understand things. But is having abstraction, enough for understanding? Is abstraction the crux of understanding?
  6. When it comes to sheer performance and productivity, Edge has the edge over other browsers. Almost like MSft is trying to overcompensate their neglect for Internet explorer and I have always used it during my Windows day. Of course I am going to switch to free and open source browsers in the future. Yup. Best gaming experience is probably on windows. Linux gaming is decent enough. That's what I heard from others.
  7. Which book? Understanding is generalizing without loss of specifics. I kinda think both are one and the same.
  8. It's not an issue if you overkill on ram and processor. But the fact that it's eating up precious resources for no real reason bugs me too much to not pay attention to it. Not to mention privacy matters. But privacy is not an issue for most people it seems. In Linux, you can run one small script to backup your files, exactly when you feel a backup is necessary. The backup service is not constantly running in the background. Also for browser Firefox is lagging behind too much that I have to use Edge even on Linux. Edge is simply better, performance and features wise. No. Do you?
  9. Pretty bold of you to assume that we had a democracy in the first place. The United States and every other paper democracy for that matter has systems in place to make sure that the will of the people will NOT take place. The people who run those systems are the ones who fear monger that our democracy is under threat. "Our democracy is under threat." *Proceeds to strike down a policy that had overwhelming support from the people* "Damn I just saved the democracy" Clown Show.
  10. When we identify as evolutionary, we obsolete the need for paid as a driver. Emergence through emergency is a low-quality, and slow way for growth. We can contemplate how we are participating in the evolutionary process and even work to boost the evolutionary process. Universe is selecting for more diversity and differences at the same time. We develop capacity for abstraction so that we can think of the future as good or bad. Abstraction is a newer set of emergent properties. Incredible.
  11. This spec is pretty normal for 4k video editing which Leo probably does a lot. There are people who get threadripper pro or i9 latest gen that's truly insane. I cannot think of a use case for such unless you are into some hardcore research or production grade modelling or AI. Not going to be enough. Also get yourself a good anti virus software, just in case you want to be perfectly safe. Windows Defender will crumble in case malware creeps into your system. Although less likely these days. That's the problem man. With windows there are always more and more softwares that you need to run, to make up for the vulnerabilities which is, infact created by having a large bloated OS to begin with. There is going to be ant malware executables, data extraction mechanisms and if you are backing up your files they are going to constantly run in the background. I recently switched to Linux Mint for that reason.
  12. Uncle Bill is interested in your data. I have been looking around for some PC lately. I found this to suit my requirements. I am not confident enough to build my own yet, although that would be significantly cheaper. This is about 1.2K USD. Edit: This has an extra 256GB SSD storage. This is where I would put the OS. 1TB is for pure storage in the long term. Running the OS in the SSD drive would degrade it significantly faster (more write operations). I can keep replacing that smaller SSD over and over again. Works well for long term use.
  13. This is a fun and interesting exercise to build emphathy. But don't fool yourself into thinking you have learned something real by watching videos or even talking to people. Actually surviving these places is the true test. You cannot get that while sitting in your comfy room sipping ice cream and watching 3rd grade living conditions in 4k.
  14. Putin is much more sane and grounded than the western media wants to give credit to. His only biases are that he is too delusional about the Russian state being a global super power enough to counter US while having an economy lesser than that of Texas. Even that is entirely due to the natural gas which the world is moving away from. It would have been really interesting to see what would have happened if Russia was actually powerful enough to challenge the west, economically. I personally hate imposing this liberal culture on everyone especially to countries lower down the developmental spiral. So I can resonate well with what Putin is struggling with here.
  15. Israel has valid reasons for occupation far surpassing the 1967 borders.
  16. It is best to not have an opinion on how others conduct themselves. Do not give advice unless they ask for it.
  17. Man, sorry to tell you that your supreme creativity is struggling to find expression in you. It will make you into a mess if you do not let it express itself. The most creative writers are often psychologically insane. That is a feature, not a bug. If your intellect is not handled properly, it will be more of a hinderance that a gift. You need to learn to use it more strategically and plan to use it well just like you plan in the middle game. That is all true. But I do not have enough of an experience to guide you since I have many of the struggles that you mentioned. As a casual advice, I may suggest you get a tech job or coding, and you can build off from there. The market is not the most forgiving nowadays, but that is something to look into.
  18. Making a living from chess tournaments is an eternal struggle. You are subjecting yourself to the most mental torture that humans can go possibly through and the only way you can make a living is if you manage to win all the time. Imagine you promising your kids some toys and the only way you can afford them is if you beat some child prodigy who has been trained by world class coaches. I am not rated but I have defeated guys in the 1500 FIDE range. I plan to improve in chess side as my hobby. I will play real tournaments occasionally. For me it is more about creativity and the exploration of chess itself that matters more. Hooking up chess to survival will ruin the beauty of it. You might not be able to leverage your full IQ to play chess because pressures from life might impacting your performance. All my pro chess player friends are struggling and going on the tutoring route. They tech academics like math, science and also chess to make ends meet. You have an IQ of 130. So perhaps you can quickly learn stuff. So maybe you should get a job in tech or coding that could easily pay off your bills and you might even be able to work remotely. You do not need college for that. Companies these days are hiring on the basis of skill. There are plenty of options out there for someone of your intellectual caliber.
  19. I think God which is absolute infinity cannot possibly miss out on life. That's is why God creates finite being so that God can feel what it is like to miss out. So you can definitely miss out on life, especially through no fault of your own. That's just life. And that is by design. God wants to distract itself from the humongous infinity that is itself.
  20. What exactly is meant by missing out on life? Is it something objective? What are the degrees to which you can miss out on life? Do you miss out on life by being born in the wrong place or in the wrong body? What exactly is life and what is it meant to be? Please share your thoughts. I may update the thread as I find more musings on this topic?
  21. This is the best approach. Act like you believe what they say. Say Thank you Jesus. Or whatever their religion is. Say things that they want to hear. This requires a lot of development from you of course. But this works so well because the blue mind doesn't think too deeply. Just say whatever their religion is the best religion and keep peace. This is best short term approach. The long term approach is to slowly work to move out.
  22. Do you think the *primary* reason for instability in the middle East is US and their invasions, toppling of democratically elected governments, bombings etc? --- I used to support Israel in the beginning. You can't use hamas bombings as an excuse to bomb even more people including children. I mean, you can't keep on bombing them indefinitely. The Backlash against Israel has nothing to do with Anti Semitism. It's not so hard to see who did more bombings. Just don't bomb people. Okay.
  23. So True. I was so scared out of my ass to play chess, but once I started winning even moderate number of times, it has become an addiction instead of fearing it.
  24. Think about this if you want to complicate this a little more. Is it possible that you missed out on life, which thinking that you lived life to the fullest? What if you think if you missed out on life, while in reality you did not miss out. The whole concept of missing out is a bunch of bullshit. I say you lived a pretty good life if you did not go out of your way to create bullshit for yourself. Life is a journey of exploration. You only learn more and more. Missing out is a negative or scarcity-based concept overall. Even if you wasted your whole life, it is probably not worth it to think that you have missed out on life.
