Personalize affirmations and always connect it to a vision of yourself attaining whatever quality that affirmation imbues on you. I love affirmations now and make sure to get them in daily. They've really done great work correcting the "negative affirmations" that were swimming around in my head for so long.

I have the whole slew of social media & video game type things to distract me, but most of all the biggest blunder to my productivity would be reading and fantasizing about how I want to improve my life, which gives me a false sense of effort and literally practicing NONE of that. For example, I just started making art again after a few year hiatus from it. Yet over the past few years I've been collecting art supplies and reading art books with the IDEA that I would be making some effort towards that goal. So lately I do want to spend effort learning new strategies to implement into my life, but I make sure to put the books, phone, websites, etc all down and actually practice my yoga, meditation, eating right, career research, or anything else that actually benefits me and not just living in a delusional fantasy about it.

Yes, it reduced my anxiety to the point where I no longer needed it, and no longer feel anxious in most situations. Which led me to completely being able to see through the negative thought patterns that first constructed my anxiety & depression, being able to completely move past them. I think it's a useful, controversial and hence greatly overlooked medicine. -

Meditating while doing yoga taught me how to be still and meditate without doing the postures. You can go into a meditative state and still get the benefits. The classes I attend sometimes followup with a long savasana, where you can meditate to your heart's content. It's been life changing for me <3.- 12 replies

I didn't really like his book. I've read maybe 20 self help books which led me to watching videos here on Actualized, and Eckhart Tolle's has been my least favorite one. I can't relate to the simplicity in his explanations of what he went through. I really need books to dig into the ideas they have (unless it's simple affirmations work). It came off as preachy without having something tangible for me to relate to. I do understand living in the now and how it can be life altering and motivating, which it has done for me. I can see why maybe someone who doesn't need wordy or thought out explanations would love his book. -

Shamans throughout the ages have looked to plant helpers to reach enlightenment. The reality of that is up to you. -
This inspired me to make a morning routine. I was establishing it before, but my life circumstances have changed a little bit. My perfect morning routine would be: Wake up 7 am, or earlier Drink a glass of water Write a "Morning Pages" journal (It's a technique from "The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron) Wash face, beauty routine Have tea and a small, healthful breakfast Do a morning exercise (yoga, walk, hike) Say affirmations for 20 minutes at least
