  1. It is quite obvious that there are many spiritual dogmas that go unquestioned and even defended dogmatically. Congrats for breaking that barrier.
  2. Not possible. The best thing to do is to live with minimal ego. And there's no end to how small the ego can get (pun intended). Think of 1% ego and 0.000001% ego and 0.0000000001% ego, and so on.
  3. @Carl-Richard I'm really glad I'm not a mod. What you're dealing with here in this particular case is: A person with personality disorders, victim's mentality, and mental illness(es). A person with personality disorders and poor boundaries. A person with complex PTSDs and mood disorders. I don't know how you could resolve such conflicts, so again I'm glad that I'm not a mod. The other conflicts that happened last week are similar. These things should not happen typically, but apparently when people get to know each other here, they develop some sort of emotional connection and expectations from each other. But since they're all unstable, this becomes problematic very quickly. I know this because I have been caught up in this dynamic before, because I used to have some similar problems. People come here with a lot of emotional baggage, so it's hard to manage them all without them clashing with each other and/or lashing out at you. Obviously, none of them is bad. And actually, from my interactions with them, they're all good people with gentle hearts. They don't realize what they're doing at the time, but after some time it becomes clear and they try to make up for it. This has actually happened to me last year when one person attacked me publicly then apologized in private. It happened recently too, but with another person that doesn't have anything to do with this. Many people are going through hard times, I'm sure some mods even experience this (maybe this is one of those hard times haha). Life may be hard, yes. But one thing for sure is that it doesn't ever stop for our problems and disagreements whether small or big and whether few or many, nor does it stop us from growing. I am sure that someday we will all look back at this thread and laugh with a pure heart filled with awe and nostalgia for the people that we'd wish we'd never hurt in any way.
  4. Blocked users don't disappear completely. Their comments are hidden but there's an option to show each one individually.
  5. Yeah, it's tough. Don't listen to those critiques, you can't please everyone. There's this saying: "The judge between kids hanged himself."
  6. Stop attacking me ??? Leave me alone ??‍❤️‍??
  7. Blocking does not prevent people from talking about you. It will only make it less likely for you to read it when it happens.
  8. Oh, my God! I'm having my worst fear realized. My mom thinks that I'm a hippy. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
  9. @Zeroguy Breaking news: Masculinity crisis! A guy gets trolled by a girl, complains about her to another girl. What's next? Preety coerces Benton into implied consent and rapes him telepathically?! LMAO!

  11. Well, then. I would suggest looking at the conversation from a broader perspective. Let's say that "genetics" is literally being used as a blanket term for things that we cannot control. How would you make use of that? For me, I would conclude that some people are simply not destined to be enlightened. So then they should stop chasing after God and maybe focus their attention and efforts on things that they're more likely to get. So it ties perfectly with purpose. To me, genetics basically mean: "Look, you're designed to do this, but not that. Know your purpose, and don't waste your time chasing ghosts."
  12. I disagree wholeheartedly. Personally, I couldn't care less about "my personal enlightenment" anymore. I'm just sharing my thoughts for the sake of it. And obviously, data is important, but its absence should not stop us from having this conversation. Maybe someone will find it helpful. Maybe upon reading this convo, someone will decide that their genes are not good enough for enlightenment and then give up the search. Who knows?! Plus, genetics is broader than enlightenment. So whatever applies to it generally should logically apply to enlightenment.
  13. Glad that we agree on this. It's hard to say. In my current view of things, that extent varies between people, so it's not the same for everyone. You might be more genetically inherently predisposed for awakening while others not at all. So, genetics are first order. And second order would be environment. Then practice and everything else (including education, perspective, limiting beliefs, etc.). I think that there's a range of importance to consider here as well. Some people's genes might have a major effect on them, and others not so much, while others (most people I would say) somewhat fairly. So there's some flexibility in there, and not everything is 100% determined. At least not everything is determined on the second order level, but only on the first order level. We might say that there's a general genes flexibility factor that differs from one person to another, which might or might not have the same value (levels of importance) when it comes to specific skills or functions. Like maybe your genes are flexible in regards to spiritual work, but not to sports. Or maybe they're flexible in all areas. Also, there's an obvious difference between being born normal vs. handicapped vs. superhuman. Someone born with legs is different from someone born without any. And they're both different from someone born with legs that are made for running. Like you said, it is a huge and complex topic, and I have actually written a better and more detailed reply but lost it to error 403 on posting.
  14. Not really. Dude, just stop! What do you even know about genetics? Do you understand how inheritance works? Do you know that there are two types of genes? Do you know that just because my grandmother's eyes were blue does not mean that my eyes should necessarily be blue? 15. The hand exercise is not meant to convince you logically. It's meant to open up your mind to the possibility of something beyond logic. Your hand is imaginary means that your hand is not a material thing. But don't make this imagination pointer into another materialistic concept. Personally, I would not recommend using that pointer (imagination), though. Because it's not accurate. Hence, you're here posing this objection. Instead, I would use Zen pointers to help you deconstruct your mind. Then after that, you're free to construct whatever you want.
  16. Maybe not here, and maybe not in the sense that genetics don't exist. But I am certain that I saw him more than once undermining the role of genetics in spiritual work.
  17. Wait, are you saying empty your cup first? Or are you trying to quote Jordan Peterson?
  18. @Consilience How can you doubt genetics but believe in reincarnation?
  19. Masculine = Mask of lying. Nice!
  20. His ego spiraled out of control. That's what happened to him.
  21. Kinda got me confused there. Is it clarity or nonsense? Anyway, I wish I could do way with fapping, but I can't. Apparently, my dick is bigger than my brain lol.
