I hear people like Eckhart Tolle say this a lot. Is this the same as saying there is no individual fee will? does it mean that we are “karmic windup toys” and that our real Self is sitting back and enjoying the show, even though we feel like we are making decisions through effortful thought? what is the intended communication in the phrase?

I had been working construction with concrete for 2 months, lungs got progressively irritated due to dust exposure (regular and concrete dust + other random shit, probably) over period of about 2 weeks so I quit. It has been a week and my lungs have gotten a bit better, but still irritated and no noticeable difference over past 4 days. Does anyone have experience with dust irritation? Is it supposed to take this long to go away? If I go to doctor I have $3,700 potential deductible and I’m unemployed now.

While working construction I tried to just do any amount, even if it is 30 mins or less of LP work just to keep it going. On weekends I would try to do more. now my strategy is shifting. I’m planning rn to try to make a lot of money, in career, business or both and work my way over the top of wage slavery. if I don’t get rich I may resort to living cheaply off a substantial savings i will have built and trying to get my LP started that way. i still want to keep the habit going if possible

I can’t tell if sharing that is sort of like sharing a business idea haha

You would probably benefit from a bit more maturity as well. It is hard to find a good life purpose when you think primarily about what you want. you will want to be thinking about what you want to GIVE to others. It’s the difference between being a guy who uses a woman to get him off, and a guy who derives his pleasure from getting the woman off, and from giving his best gift, himself, to her.

You’re young, dude. There is plenty time to keep expanding your sights and be inspired by other stuff. i don’t recommend anything military, as that would not be a benevolent contribution. You need to be creative. Don’t look for obvious things that other people are already doing. That will always be limiting. you need to find and do more of your authentic self, with wider scope. seek new experiences and keep on returning to the questions

I would not worry about plan B. I would focus on Plan A. plan A sounds like it is finding the best degree path for you, and working it out so that you graduate and find a career or business path that is best for you. this is often a challenging question, but what’s great is you can use this time to methodically work your way toward an answer. Life Purpose course is a great resource to get you started but understand that you can’t just think of a dream business and then poof that into existence without time, money, experience, network, skills, know how, confidence, etc. always look for a practical bridge for how to get there. Keep journaling about what you know and what you don’t know, and think about how you can answer what you don’t know

Update: I looked at my strengths and they suggest I could be good at Data analytics, so I’m likely gonna shoot for that. Decent salary uses my skills and intelligence Can get good at it (rewarding) Decently enjoyable can learn a lot @Terell Kirby yes, I don’t think psych education is worth it for me at this point. I still have growth runway available in corporate America, I agree. What I can do is what I can do.

I find myself in the same place. It can feel scary sometimes. Thanks for sharing.

I know it is recommended for regular doctor, and dentist check ups. I'm just struggling to same up money to have a shot at starting my life purpose. I am generally healthy but also working construction which is unhealthy. Honestly, am I stupid not to spend the hundreds or maybe more that doctors and dentists will charge me? Are there cheap doctors and dentists or is it all basically the same?

I was thinking about Mexico too. Some Latinos I talk too say don’t go because it is dangerous. Idk public transport there is not always safe. Someone could break into your apt and steal your computer, knowing you are a foreigner. what of your computer breaks down? are you going to order a part and trust that it gets delivered? I think hidden expenses are there too. and what about noise, Moctezuma’s revenge, cartels messing with the power grid, etc. haha. that’s why I might move to middle of nowhere Tennessee, to still have access to US amenities while living relatively cheap Without speaking decent spanish it’s not easy to get what you need, and it takes like 6 months immersion to get decent. I don’t mean to be paint a bad picture of Mexico, in fact, i would love to live there, but it’s important to look at realities.

I didn’t read your entire post. I thought about working in wilderness therapy but apearently a good portion of the kids don’t want to be there. if my life purpose was in therapeutics I would only hold that job as a start, at best. dream big and something you’re really into.

I could really use a program like that system of German welfare. I would use it to legitimately work on my purpose. But I’m from the U.S. Is it realistic that I could become a German citizen to use such a welfare service? I am an Italian Citizen with Italian passport as well, which means I technically should be able to work there. I just wonder if they would ever issue a non-citizen the welfare.

@Nahm i see that point too. I mean if you act fearlessly, that courage will probably be rewarded in some hard too see way by the universe. Maybe just in the form of self-esteem. im definitely too afraid right now myself to do that, and it only gets worse the longer you go along with it I think. idk.

I’m also part of a church I don’t believe in. I just kind of don’t go sometimes if I think I can get away from it. I also just accept and go along with most of it and make the best of it sometimes you can get pretty heavily sucked into commitments though. You’ve gotta kind of feel it out and see what’s right. Use your skill of navigating. I’m literally going to a church Cornhole tournament right now. The ultimate answer is career. Keep planning your career with a heavy bent toward action, so you can find out quickly what works and what doesn’t, do you can move out sooner and live a more authentic life. or you could tell the truth, but sometimes that is not practical since it will cause too much turmoil.

I’m still confused if enlightenment is an instantaneous thing or a gradual thing. Or both. Not easy to answer this one -
I think Leo’s epistemics are the most correct, with respect to reality being God and love, as well as awakening having many facets that go deeper. I think he is right about enlightenment not being the end of searching but an opportunity to go further and find infinitely more. Frank Yang seems to be an example of someone who has found satisfaction in having awakened, and no-longer has the same motivating factor that brought him to enlightenment, because his motivation was not that of understanding everything, but was more akin to finding what it is that is true beyond this illusory world. Jed McKenna had a similar drive. Most important for him was to no-longer live in a state of falsehood, so whether or not he had a Buddhist no-self awakening, he would still be happy having no found something eternally true, beyond the false or illusory. He might not even care to know if it was love or not. Leo might lack the same fulfillment that Frank and Jed might share because he is still pursuing, and he is pursuing more understanding simply because that is his disposition, not because of lack of knowing. when one relaxes like Jed or Frank, they seem more able to embody the truth of enlightenment because they are giving themselves to the disposition that it suggests, that being needlessness. i think it is a difference in their natures. For Leo to embody his awakenings more he would probably need to loosen up on his drive to keep finding more. this is my first attempt?

Yeah I think this is more ideal, but I also think it is not easy to do for most people without defaulting at times to belief systems -

but written below your post it says “I am the only thing stopping myself from receiving infinite love from myself”. it’s not your actions that pull you from God, it’s your beliefs, judgement, and already inherent egotism that is expressing itself through your “impious” actions -

@Thought Art good idea. i want to understand more of where he is coming from i think one can easily be enlightened and be immature though. bentinho Massaro seems rather conscious, with insightful things to say, but quite immature and then there are enlightened alcoholics and sexual transgressors. I do think that the more immature someone is, the more likely they are to make epistemic mistakes, even with high consciousness. Their minds are just too biased. I’m speaking from experience here? -

@Thought Art I feel like he is like candy to the eyes of wanna be enlightened folks. Good looks, hot girl, charming, happy, playful, everything we want. I mean I don’t see a reason to doubt his claim that he is enlightened, at least not more than anyone else claiming it, but I honestly think he’s probably a bit deluded. It seems to me like he contradicts himself often and doesn’t apply rigor to what he is saying or how he is interpreting his experiences. thay said, I take what he says as a legitimate possiblility that I cannot rule out without becoming more conscious myself. then again, A couple grams of magic mushrooms should be enough to feel quite strongly that Frank Yang was never anything but a figment of your imagination lol. -

@Waken cool. I read 2 McKenna books but never actually threw away my beliefs about spirituality and relied on myself to see what’s true. I think it’s pretty impractical to do that if you care about survival needs and want to make good life decisions, because you’ll tend to want to follow principles suggested by your favorite philosophy, and there’s not enough time to figure out the truth or untruth of it first through a questioning process. I definitely don’t have the same motivations as Jed, at least at this point in my life. -

@Blackhawk I’ll look at it. btw, do u claim to know who Jed is?
