@molosku @Lucas Lousada @Quanty @Arman @Faceless @FeathersandPennies you guys have no idea how much you helped me put my mind at ease. Past few days I have been so hopeless about life and just utterly fearful about a lot of things. Your words are slowly guiding me out of this. I dont even consider myself an emotional person but many of your words brought me to tears, of hope and gratitude. Im so glad I posted on here, I didn’t think I would recover so fast, or at all. <3 I am still unsure about a lot of things, especially about how to go about pursuing consciousness work more slowly and surrendering when its hard to surrender, making this journey more pleasant, but I know there are answers out there, and in time it will all make sense Definitely off weed for good though haha -
I need help choosing a meditation technique based on various pros and cons, my experiences, and leo’s video advice Do nothing * I have been doing this for 1.5 years and learned a lot about its application, and feel like since I did it so long I might as well master it (might be attached to the amount of time I invested) yet .. * most days I just feel like I am in monkey mind and doubting myself if I am doing it correctly even though I have read a lot on do nothing and many days I can say with certainty I am doing it right. This is my biggest reason for changing to strict mindfulness meditation with labeling * feel like I am going deep and noticed much spiritual purification with this Strict mindfulness meditation with labeling * Always feel like I am doing this technique right, and don’t get lost in monkey mind due to the labeling component that gives the mind focus * Noticed towards the end of the video leo says to shine mindfulness on the I, and I got the sense that I can’t have ego-death with just focusing on the 6 types of sensations he says to place mindfulness on. The reason i say this as a problem because, I really care about “proper application” and after being unsure about the “do nothing” technique for so long, I want a technique where my “proper application” is very on point. And I don’t know how to shine mindfulness on the I, as well as I do for the 6 sensations * On leo’s start page, he said this is the most important habit to build Leo’s next level of meditation * Through this technique I have personally experienced the most joy and peace, and almost ego death many times even though I have done this maybe a total of 20 times Strong determination * Leo says this is the fastest path to enlightenment

@Violina @Quanty Wow 2 people for the breath haha Why do you guys like this technique more than other meditation techniques? -
zunnyman replied to zunnyman's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
So many techniques haha, don’t know how to decide which one @Outer Why do you recommend self inquiry over other meditation techniques? Have your results and experiences been better? Do you find application hard? I remember trying it in the past, but just getting frustrated with it. I guess I have a problem with techniques that have a risk of improper application or much monkey mind you can get lost in or just the doubt of not doing it right, and getting disheartened and unmotivated because of that feeling. This is why something like strict mindfulness or strong determination or awareness on the breath appeal to me as it just seems so hard to get it wrong. I would hate to spend years doing meditation wrong. Well it seems like thats what I did already with do nothing. Not sure haha -
zunnyman replied to zunnyman's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
I don’t think I am ready for “no technique” as that just leaves a beginner like me confused. But I do like attention on the breath. It puts me in my body, good suggestion. I will consider this as well among the other techniques -
Like for example, For a while I have been doing the technique from leo’s video on “strong negative emotions, but now I added a twist which is breathing into strong negative emotions, by going into and fully feeling strong negative emotions with the breath and the awareness of the breath - if all that makes sense lol And that felt great and worked really well for me, but felt too powerful to fast Could trying something untested like this (or maybe this is a technique that I never heard of) lead to weird experiences, physical or spiritual damage? I know sadhguru says modifying yoga is dangerous, but never heard of modifying meditation techniques

zunnyman replied to zunnyman's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Sadhguru isn’t an isolated example, even Leo is saying, taking from the creator of kriya yoga, that with kriya yoga you shouldn’t mix in different yoga styles, or modify it for whats convenient, or do the routines I choose to and leave out the rest, etc. I’m sure there’s good reason for why so many gurus are saying not to modify yoga, or maybe our western minded intellect won’t understand. -
In leo’s latest video, Hawaii Late Night Insights, he said that this awakening might make his body drop dead. Like can this work take you to that point, where you don’t even become awakened and die on the spot? I get physical and literal death as a part of the awakening process, but I didn’t know that your body can just drop dead. I’m not sure I heard leo correctly, but it sounds like he was making a distinction between phsyical/literal death and also that this work might make your body not continue by surrendering your life like a mahasamadhi. Was leo saying this as just something you have to accept, or are there actually cases where people do consciousness work and just drop dead on the floor? I know it is kind of ironic and paradoxical for me to say “I am willing to physically and literally die, but not willing to drop dead on the floor where my heart stops beating” but on a practical level I am doing this consciousness work for some payoff, not to drop dead.

@Nahm I see what your trying to say, which is the magnitude of what we are doing here. Literal and physical death. Even just now I was looking in the mirror and was like wow, what am I even building a life for right now. It really is just a house of cards. But Im also wondering that is there a possibility that consciousness work literally kills you to the point where even your body doesn’t go on living after ur death? -
Hey Leo, I just bought your book. Very excited to implement this new puzzle in my life. Anyways, in the beginning of the vlog you mention how if you don’t have the proper diet, you should not be doing yoga at all. But as you talk about in your healthy eating videos, changing your diet is years and years of work, and I am very serious about rigorous yoga but I am highly addicted to sugar and wheat. I don’t go overboard with junk, but I have basic standard american diet foods like cereal, bread, etc. but then also I have a daily fruit smoothie. Do I just wait for years until I fix my diet, to start this yoga or should I try a nuclear approach and cut out all my addictive bad foods all at once so I can start this yoga practice? Please enlighten me

Hey guys, I have been following leo’s advice on the start section on his website of implementing one habit at a time. So far I have one habit: 1 hour strong determination sitting that i have kept up for 10 months. Now I am planning on implementing one habit every 30 days. But after a few years won’t I have too many habits in place? There are atleast 15-20 juicy habits I want to implement in my life. Should I stick to only a few forever, or continue to implement one every 30 days with the faith that itll all work out in a few years. One solution I have figured out that I think will work is to add a new habit every 30 days to my morning routine, and evening routine, so it just mentally feels like I have 2 main habits (morning and evening routine) over the years that are just solidifying over time. Any thoughts on this as well?

These are great thoughts, insights, and solutions for effective habits guys, thank you

Hey Leo, In your latest video, the marketing one, you were talking about how you can’t get enlightened if you work at mcdonalds or if you are in a toxic relationship, because eventually you would hit a point while raising your consciousness and would have to be like “oh shit, I have to leave this relationship” I am not quoting your exact words, just what I understood. After hearing that, I started getting paranoid because I would say I am in one decently toxic relationship that I feel would be impossible for me to leave, and have had a lot of struggle leaving, and I don’t want to not get enlightened. And in your previous enlightenment FAQ video you said, when you become enlightened it would be a lot easier to make decisions such as leaving a toxic relationship, etc. so I was waiting for post enlightenment to worry about this toxic relationship. I was wondering if you could shine some light on this, or if anyone else has some input they want to share.

Oh yeah and that glass cieling thing freaked me out lol I was thinking fuck what if there are other potential things I don’t know about holding me back from raising my consciousness and even if I put in 10 hours/day in consciousness work I won’t get past the glass cieling because of some “self” problem or dysfunctional external circumstance. Good to know that enlightenment is there to be seen potentially at any moment and doesn’t have any pre-requisites. -
zunnyman replied to zunnyman's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Pallero haha I was thinking the exact same thing you said, its just that there was some doubt in my head and my mind gets me so paranoid sometimes, that I literally had to come on here to relieve my paranoia and get a confirmation of 100%. I guess I have a lot of fears and inner demons to work through. Wow just typing that made me remember leo saying the mind likes certainty, and enlightenment is about making you ok with uncertainty. Haha this journey is tough -
zunnyman replied to zunnyman's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Oh okay i think I understood your point. So you are saying if you can’t get the courage to leave a relationship, how would I get the courage to experience full on death? But lets say I could get the courage to leave the relationship if I put in the time, but I don’t want to spend the time working on my external circumstances, my “self” problems, as well as my self esteem, etc and just want to shoot for enlightenment directly. In that situation, I would still be able to get enlightened? I believe in my capabilities of developing courage but I guess I feel putting the time and effort to handle this relationship in the best way, doesn’t seem worth it. -
Hey Guys, I just graduated college, and now FINALLY have time to work on myself fully. I might be a perfectionist, but I really like to use my time optimally to achieve the highest levels of happiness and fulfillment, and honestly I would spend my time in whatever way suits me the best. With that said, which one do you think would be the best use of my time right now. I'm 21, passionate about music, but also very passionate about self mastery and enlightenment. Right now I am considering working my way up to doing 3 hours a day in my life purpose, and 5 hours a day doing enlightenment over the years. I am very serious in both so I like this plan. Should I: A) Focus all my energy in self mastery and enlightenment, as that gives true genuine authentic happiness. Then see what my authentic self really wants to do when I am enlightened. Vs. B) Go for the exciting passionate life of music, Then enlightenment when my career and habits are stable. As a bonus, The money from this path can be used towards expensive 5-MEO retreats, etc. Vs. C) Do them both at the same time, which will prevent me from thinking in my head constantly "What if I had decided to do the other path instead?", get the best of both worlds, and possibly both having a multiplying effect on each other. I am worried however that the conflicting nature of life purpose and enlightenment would backfire on me, and it would be hard to get massive results in both paths. Is that true? I have read multiple threads, watched leos vids, and half the life purpose course, but I am still stuck here, on how I should divide my time throughout the week. @Leo Gura You mentioned at the end of your life purpose course in the FAQ section that you recommend doing either life purpose, or enlightenment at one time, and not to do that at the same time. Is there a reason for this? Is it an issue of focus?

From experience, even just doing 5 mins of sadhguru’s yoga is like a mini body orgasm 50% of the times. Just type in on youtube “sadhguru yoga for” and he has a lot of “Yoga for” videos. Yoga for peace, Yoga for Joy, Yoga for health, etc. My personal favorite right now is “yoga for peace: naddhi shuddhi” -
So I have been wanting to do this for a while now Why destroy your smartphone? - For me, and many other people it is the most time consuming addiction in our day to day life - Small fact I heard, and not sure if this is accurate, but 41% of a human being’s lifetime is spent looking at a screen. I picture my life more out in nature. How to do it? 1) Look at all the apps you have, and delete the ones you don’t use. 2) All the apps you do use, write them on a notepad, and make a list. 3) Find a substitute for each important app, and function of your smartphone. Some of the most important substitutes: Get a used mp3 player, old school gps, flip phone for messaging and calls, and if you have a laptop, that should act as a good substitute for all your other smartphone functions. Is this right for everyone? * It depends on you, where you are in life, etc. For me personally, I feel like it would be a nice step in a positive direction, and I could see a better life doing this. Im actually really excited to do this. * On the other hand, I remember leo’s infastructure video, and he makes some good points how technology like a smartphone could be used to really advance yourself in self actualization and life purpose. Maybe when I am more conscious after a few years of work, I will get a smartphone again. Some of my favorite role models: * Sadhguru has 2 phones lol * Ed sheeran got rid of his phone, and used an iPad as a substitute. Final thoughts * It can be done if you go about it strategically, just do some planning and thinking if this is a right decision for you Feedback * Any thoughts on this? I plan on finishing this little mission within 4-8 days. I have thought about it for 5 months+ and think I am ready now.

My parents are going on vacation for 2 weeks in december and i have the whole house to myself. I am planning to use this time at home to either do 1) a solo meditation retreat: 6 hours meditation formal sits, and being out in nature the rest of the time, with no other distractions (no phone, etc) 2) 2 psychedelic trips - I have never done psychedelics before so the 1st trip would be 75 ug LSD on day 1 of 14. The 2nd trip would either be 1.5 mg shrooms or 100 ug LSD (which should I do?) on day 13 of 14 My main goal is to really take advantage of these 2 weeks in the best way possible in terms of personal growth, spiritual growth, happiness, purging, etc. Any advice, etc would be appreciated

@Nahm Woah, Thank you for this. Your post literally put me into high gear, as you showed me the significance of what I am about to do. I am taking notes on this post and leo’s blog posts on solo retreats and constructing a strategic plan for this 2 week period, an no I eat somewhat shitty hahah, I just ate a subway cookie. I think im going clean starting today. Also love the idea of a detailed before and after post on the this forum, that could really help me and other people! Thank you for the inspiration. -

@Ether You don’t have to, but I say make a decision after doing the full research and not out of fear and what culture told you @Shin That sounds amazing, great advice man -
zunnyman replied to zunnyman's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Shin Thats genius lol I didn’t think thats possible cuz i never heard of combining a solo retreat with a few days of psychedelics. Do you think thats overkill though or no? And I don’t want to develop an intolerance to psychedelics so is spacing it out over a week fine? -
@sweater surviving in this society has become easy, so I wouldn’t say it is essential. There are many substitutes for a smartphone and many people have gotten off it and are doing great. It can definitely aid in survival and if you find more benefit than cost using it, then go for it. But there are definitely a group of people who would benefit from getting rid of their smartphones
