  1. Have you seen rupert spiras videos?
  2. @Emerald Wilkins I've had insecurities about myself when I had a depression. It lasted from my early teens 13-14 until i was 28. At the later years I had major feelings of worthlessness and I was determined to find out what was wrong with me. I thought I had a personality disorder. What it was I didn't know, but guessings could be all from asperger to a psychopath. I was so identified with those thoughts I started going to a psychologist to know what it was. Of couse it was all in my mind, nothing was wrong with me. What she recommended me to do was simply not engaging in those thoughts. When those thoughts appeared I started to go out on walks. Focusing on the external world instead of my thoughts. The thoughts slowly started to lose their power over me and I started to feel better. My advice to you is simply don't engage in those thoughts. They will lose their power automatically. Use mindfullness techniques to distance yourself from them. Do the dishes or clean or whatever and focus on that. Also don't resist the thoughts. Let them appear and disappear themselves.
  3. @Deutsche22 I have told my wife and she is supportive even though she doesn't understand what it is really. I've also told a close friend about it and he got interested but I think it scared him. Not many people like to hear that there world view is an illusion. Remember that samsara is a part of the wholeness. Can we love them even though they don't share our world view? Love is unconditional. ☺
  4. Noticing it afterwards is all that is needed for it to unravel.
  5. Some great shares here. Thank you everyone. ☺ here is my contribution.
  6. A man went to a monastery and knocked on the door. The master of the monastery opened and let the man inside. He could see the monks inside a window. They were all meditating. -I want to become a monk, said the man -Thats nice, said the master, but why are you here? -Because I want to become a monk in THIS monastery! Said the man. -Sorry. We dont have any monks here. -But I saw monks in that window over there. -Those are not monks. -But they were all meditating? -Come I'll show you. The master replied They went inside, up the stairs and into the big room. There they all sat, eyes closed, in total silence. -See there they are said the man. -MOOONKS!!! The master yelled. All the monks turned there heads and looked at them. -See! No monks. The master said and started leading the man outside the monastery. -But... they all turned there heads??? Said the man -Exactly... the master sighed.
  7. Could it be that everyone is born enlightened and when we become conscious of ourself, we start believing that we are the body, the mind and the identity? ☺
  8. Wise words. Enlightened or not, enjoy your life. Every moment of it. If you can't enjoy a certain moment ask yourself why. Nothing else is needed.
  9. @Jawor The ego is not something that is destroyed, it is transcended. "Enlightenment" is simply the realization of what you really are, which is not the personality.
  10. @christianblake Doing nothing meditation is about dropping the control of your attention. This in other words means surrendering that control. You use the word willpower but it has about the same meaning as control. Other meditation techniques such as strong determination sitting are used to disindentify yourself with thought. Which will increase your "willpower".
  11. @cnorhistorian Could you define what "enlightened" means to you?
  12. @cnorhistorian It would be interesting to hear the findings of your search.
  13. "The ego is fired but he keeps showing up for work"
  14. "I" used to play games a lot in the past. It was used as an escape from dealing with "my" emotions. Escaping from reality more or less. It hurt me more in the end to try to escape them than meeting them head on. Have you tried sitting with yours?
  15. I just watched Leos video about strong determination sitting since it's been a lot on this forum lately. I started experiencing the flow of life and not much choice arises in the normal day to day life, but when I had watched the video the choice of doing a sitting or not arose. Usually choice arises when the ego is resisting in one way or another. There was a fear arising towards doing a sitting and therefore I've decided that I'm going to do one. Hopefully a lot of ego stuff will emerge to the surface. I don't do meditation or sittings in the classical sense and wonder what to consider when doing such a long sitting.
  16. @Huz88 crosslegged on the floor. Slippers on for supporting the ankles. A blanket over the legs. @Saitama it's probably not allowed. It's moving right?
  17. @StonerLord I wish I could give you an answer. I don't meditate on a daily basis. @TwoDays It's just thought. If "I" had identified with the thoughts "I" would have stopped the sitting. "I" believed "I" had awakened but it was just an experience that "I" had grasped and identified with.
  18. haha no. I don't know anything. I don't even know what questions to ask.
  19. I see it's illusion.
