All of that could be new age fluff and vegan propaganda ? Remember, this sort of collective brainwashing has been going on from time immemorial. From ancient times there have been collective and political propaganda about how Emperor X is the descent of god and how he will nourish and elevate our tribe to new heights..so and so. All of that done in order to keep the mass in sweet dreams and not rebel. Same thing going on still now. Of course we need to constantly insist on our follies, declare how great we are, how advanced our 21st century, our science and knowledge are, how we are climbing up to never before reached heights. As collective propaganda we must buy into that sweet story so that our slumber is uninterrupted. Or else everyone will be forced to look at their deep contradictions, pathetic lack and misery which would drive everyone into a mass chaos frenzy and gnawing madness. MUST NOT LET THAT HAPPEN. MUST CONTINUE THIS SELF IMPOSED SLUMBER! MUST DOUBLE DOWN ON TOMORROW'S UTOPIA WHICH NEVER COMES! -

@SoonHei I was about to bring in the movie analogy but you already nailed it. It cant get any cleaner than that! Love ya brother! Its a wonder why we don't complain or ban all the dark themed literature, art, video games, sports, movies, dramas, fictions, dreams and nightmares where abuse and suffering is rampant. In fact we voluntarily line up to consume them. There are multi billon dollars industries that cater just to this human need of getting juice outta sufferings and dark themes. But when that same things happen to a story involving 'me', all shit break loose ? I remember reading in a book by Eckhart Tolle how twisted this concept of 'me' is. A car gets stolen. If its the neighbor's car, no one bats an eye. If its my car, its devastation. What kind of sorcery is that? ? -

If I remember correctly there was someone called umar UK who got banned. Read his posts to have a sample ? (Dont of his account is still alive tho) No i was referring to your statement that no thinking, inquiring, meditations can yield freedom. Then what does that make thinking, inquiring, meditation? And the OP nailed the understanding of the self inquiry technique Ramana maharshi style. The entire purpose of that technique is to make a clear distinction between self vs non-self. Then ignoring the non-self and trying ones best to go balls deep into the self, until enlightenment happens. The OP shared this understanding by referring being vs knowing. There is no more steps, levels, complexity or nuance to it. Now i know there are probably 100 techniques under the same label but no resemblence with the original technique. If you are liberated, you dont need self inquiry. Or rather, if self inquiry is properly understood to its end point, the enlightened one's default state is 24/7 self inquiry. But as a seeker who feels bound and wanna get enlightened, they need to do self inquiry. Telling them oh there is no such distinction as self vs non-self, its all one blah blah is precisely something osho wouldn't say ...unless drunk ? -

I agree. Its an act of grace. No doubt about that. But then again, is thinking, inquiring, meditation different from being? ? (See what i did there? ?) -

I cant speak for him but IMO the spiritual path is highly individualized and nuanced. Its the complete disintregation and reintregation of ones life. But we often forget that and thus push something that may have worked for us on all over the board. Yes models and maps help to make sense of things to a degree but they only go so far. Thats why guru/spiritual teacher/ philosophical counselor is needed as a doctor. That can ease things up. Someone with enormous experience and seen hundreds of seekers come and go under his/her wing in their lifetime. -

Once you really have it, you dont have to talk or argue about it. I thought it was a thread regarding practical pointers and understanding of self inquiry. It is crucial to understand this distinction intellectually and then repeatedly having the first hand taste of being. NOT a thread about who can spew more nonduality theorems like osho drunk on cheap local vodka ? -

Preetom replied to Petals's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Yes all of them is being and no separation between being and knowing. But like i said, there is a qualitative difference between having an actual insight into being vs merely saying everything is being as a theorem to win a nonduality debate. For example like a dream you see at night. Is the building you see in the dream your mind? Yes. Is the tiger chasing you in the dream your mind? Yes! Everything is a product and of the substance of your own mind/being. But usually, does everything 'feel' like a projection of your mind? No, it feels everybit outside and objectively real just like the waking world. So there is a qualitative difference between actually waking up to that truth and becoming lucid in that dream vs pulling up your pants and running as fast as you can to save yo ass from the dream tiger ? -

And BTW about the 2nd part of the question regarding unnecessary suffering: The ego mind has to see and reflect on all the mess and tyranny it has caused so far. That will inevitably bring in a degree of dark night of soul. Thats the necessary suffering and one needs to slowly cope with that. But making a new victim story out of that phase and remaining there and consequently make more nihilististic firm worldviews from that place is unnecessary suffering. From then on, a radical jump is due. The seeker must realize and come to terms how this ego is inherently corrupted and how any amount of its self exerted efforts will only create more of the same. From then on, an identity shift is due. A progressive relinquishment of the ego and further attachment and sinking into the already perfect Self and its ever present grace. One must literally forget or see through his/her regrets, both good deeds and bad deeds and personal stories and instead identify with the Self more and more. Once that shift is made, all the goodies god promised naturally comes. -

Nononono Those are all usual responses of the mind seeing its own fickle constructions and manipulations. The first signs of breaking out of the known, the conventional, the conformity. Its part of the path. And of course the point is not to nest in there forever. The endgame of spirituality is to transcend the mind and all its constructs. It all comes from the @Good-boy of all good boys ? -
Preetom replied to Aaron p's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Good boy is waking up. Honestly speaking, the most discomforting part of the day for me is waking up from sleep. I Iiterally feel a tremendous shock throughout my system. The usual 1st thought is why did this hideous cancer of being a limited entity and knowing other things dawned upon me? It feels like taking a human and trying to fit it in a mouse hole. The absolute infinity putting on its self imposed limitation of being abrakam/preetom back -

Well..one thing is certain folks. Life as we knew it went out of the window and it would be impossible to put the blinders on again and pretend nothing has happened. We resist against that for a while, only to realize the futility of it. -
Preetom replied to Petals's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Petals Very good. You got it! Now back to self inquiry mines. You wont get lost after understanding the significance of being over knowing Its not about any question, answer, experience or anything. It is about ceaseless aming, aming, being until the identity shifts for good, or more accurately all superimposed limitations are gone from identity. -
