You are going through a phase. Its inevitable. The old has to die for the new to come. Dont worry, you'll get your peace, bliss, love and all that good shit when you make it to other side. Spirituality is serious business. If these ideas are entertained seriously, your 'insides' are literally being rearranged and processed. So expect some(or massive) hiccups. One cant stay the same. -

Start seeing self image, purpose, meaning, context, morality etc like specialized pieces of a gigantic puzzle. Each piece/group serves you in some particular way while simultaneously limiting you in some other ways whether you know it or not. In other words, each setting comes with pros and cons. And as Leo mentioned, the highest awakening is transcending the entire game. Total absence of context, image, agency. -

Yup. Its kinda inevitable due to the death/rebirth process. You'll lose hobbies, ideas, fantasies, love for people and things, family, even for yourself, your own self image, even thoughts you entertained last week or yesterday. When the onion is peeled back layer after later, the onion tends to lose its shape and it tends to induce tears. You expected anything else? -

This whole issue and confusion arises because we have so habitually entangled our sense of being with impermament mechanisms and operations like thinking, feeling, experiencing, acting etc. Things that phase in and out but we try to sustain a continuous entity behind these activities through a narrative -

This begs forth a serious issue. Could it be that the so called 'specialists' of any field is in fact the most deluded about the reality of that field? Its like they've hardened themselves so much into their positions like a cocoon that there is no possibility to change, grow or learn something new on the level of paradigm shifts -

What sort of sick joke is this? The author destroys everything including the void, and now he/she is concerned with some sharing protocol? Lol Btw any idea about Consciousness/Awareness is automatically false and limited. Strictly speaking, for the sake of political correctness, The Absolute is NOT Consciousness/Awareness. These labels inevitably breed more dogma and a false impression like there is some actual 'thing' called consciousness floating somewhere which can be found through some elaborate, mystical wild goose chase. The 'Absolute' is undefinable. Anything said about it, is not it. Then whats the point of Consciousness/awareness? They are just fairly direct, accurate and skillful teaching pointers and provide a context to talk about that which cant be talked about. How do you do the impossible job of trying to talk about that which cant be talked about? By skillful pointers which almost come as close as to the real deal. Thats why the infallible scriptures skillfully proclaim that the Absolute/Reality is of the 'nature' of Consciousness. It's sort of like trying to talk about a mystical, absolute, unknown honey by skillfully juxtaposing it with something known like sugar; because they kinda share the same quality of sweetness. But that doesn't necessarily imply that the mystical honey IS sugar. That would be the fallacy of reducing the absolute honey to a mere concept of sugar -

Shaun let me invite you to somewhat different line of inquiry in case of you haven't considered it yet. Just notice how you framed the above statement. Through all the discussions, one conclusion may be that there is no other people or their perspective than your own. Another conclusion maybe that there are other people and their views are valid as well. A third may be to take some sort of half assed relativism where one can take a position of not knowing or impossibility of ever knowing the Truth. But notice one thing here. Who is it that doubles down on any such position? You see, it doesn't matter how many discussion or evidence is going on or not. It always boils down to something in you, the 'thing' that nests into a position as the conclusion. This is the same deal with any discussion, including free will vs determinism debate. Do you see that whether you subscribe to free will or determinism, it is always something in YOU that is taking that position. I call this the ultimate 'gatekeeper'. We can indulge in any amount of discussion, debate, doubt or whatever chasing our tails from time immemorial while the gatekeeper remains safe, sound, unchecked and en-couched in the positions it has nested into -
Preetom replied to winterknight's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@winterknight I got a question about the self inquiry practice. Even though we know that the Self cannot ever be objectified, still do I need to keep on looking hard as if I am trying to grasp and find this sense of I? Or should i sort of rest in the rememberance that i am already the self, leading it towards a surrender and nonattachment towards phenomena. Did you personally counter every single distractions and thoughts with the question to whom is this thought until the final breakthrough happened? Or did you stop asking the questions after a while? -

Let me explain it for you. See if it makes any sense or not. All we have in life is experience. We can never legitimately know if there is really a body, mind, world out there. We only experience a body, mind, world. So it all boils down as I(the subject or the 1st person) experiencing/perceiving/knowing all other objects(2nd and 3rd person stuff) So the very mechanism of all our experience is a mode of knowing or perceiving through subject-object duality. But is that all there is? No. This is where the possibility of enlightenment comes into the scene. There are some very interesting unique characteristics of this pure subject called 'I'. While all objects require an 'I' in order to be known, the subject is not dependent on anything else like that. Without the existence of the subject, there can be no object/experience. So a subject experiences objects through an act of knowing. A 1st person knowing other 2nd and 3rd persons. But the subject cannot know itself in that same knowing mechanism. The subject knows itself by Being itself. In fact, it is always and already being itself. Only being itself and nothing else. The deluded human consciousness is all about veiling that underlying Being and instead remaining engrossed in knowing experiences. But when through a direct technique like self inquiry, one keenly focuses on that Being while ignoring default mode of knowing objects, final enlightenment takes place. In that split moment, the being knowledge totally outshines objective knowledge once and for all. From then on, 'I' dont know a universe, 'I' BEcome the universe. 'I' dont know experience, 'I' BEcome experience. 'I' dont know God, 'I' BEcome God. Simultaneously it is realized that it was only this Being knowledge that alone ever exists but it appeared as a form of subject-object knowledge like an optical illusion until now. Enlightenment is death of that illusion, that redundant appearance once and for all. -

Okay now we have another dilemma. What is permanent? I mean what's the criteria? -
Preetom replied to SQAAD's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
That's the issue with theories and speculations. How can it help you genuinely in a real time inquiry? It doesn't say what 'real' is or how to find it or what to search for. It sort of gives a negative definition of what is not 'real'. So according to this any theory, any phenomena or appearance that can be perceived is not 'real'. It can be many things. But we understand from this hypothesis that it can be literally anything but 'real'. So now how do you go bout finding what's real? -
Preetom replied to SQAAD's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Hey you asked a super important question. This is an essential key for any serious inquiry. Let me see if I understood properly. Are you asking how can we know if something is absolutely real or not? -
Preetom replied to SQAAD's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@SQAAD Its good you are asking these questions. Thats how we burn all delusions and tranquilizers. All these stories, metaphors, theories, promises etc are meant to soothe and psychologically satisfy you. You feel your looming death and start waking up a bit from conventional dream reality. Its uncomfortable. So religion, science, philosophy, conspiracy theories etc try to soothe that discomfort so that you can go back to dreaming again, now the metaphysical urge is gone and you feel satisfied by believing that new story as truth These stories are like barriers or fishing nets. Each of them withhold and stop a portion of seekers at that time and place. Only a few find them full of holes and distasteful. The stories that make sense and satisfactory to most, feel like ash in mouth for those few with hyper sensitive built in bullshit detector. And only that few ever scratch and claw to Truth by not getting nested comfortably in any net in between.
