  1. Nicely said, exactly what I needed to hear ?. I did a lot of acid, shrooms, E, etc. recreationally back when I was young, it’s just that I became epileptic a while after that. It’s really the epilepsy I’m worried about rather than the trip as my seizures are quite severe when I get them, albeit quite rare. But I think you’re right, just go for it & balls it - I’ll just have to risk it or I’ll never know. My psychedelic coach recommends 2-3g per trip but I might go for 1.5 for the first one to ease into it. My strategy is to get a good few mushroom & LSD trips under my belt with my coach to clear away as much of the old baggage as possible & thoroughly learn how to integrate - and then ease into 5-meo. Also meditation, inquiry & sporadically listening to the videos. Just listened to the power of not-knowing, fantastic, changed my viewpoint completely. Thanks for all this, it’s making a big difference for me.
  2. Didn’t realise shrooms are a tryptamine. Digging around, it seems that there’s not too much rock solid info as to what’s safe or not for epilepsy re. psychedelics. It looks like they can lower seizure threshold, but it’s very dependent on the individual. Some say they experienced seizures for the first time on psychedelics, others that have a long history of epilepsy report no seizures triggered by taking them. There are hints that people with photically induced epilepsy may be more at risk, which I don’t have. But in general it seems to be highly variable from person to person - the fact is that there’s a real paucity of research in this area. As a result, it seems asking doctors, psychiatrists or pharmacists will yield little useful info. In fact most will automatically advise against any illicit drug to protect themselves, understandably. I hate to say it, but I may just have to go in blind & test it for myself. It’s a bit scary, but I’d it’d be a shame to have to rule out the possibility of psychedelics for awakening for the rest of my life.
  3. @Girzo Thanks Edit: Jesus those guys are crazy. Perhaps not the best source for trip reports ?
  4. Do you feel that 5-meodmt is much easier to have a bad trip on compared to 5meomalt? And does 5meomalt take you to the same place of god consciousness?
  5. Do people find that MALT is less brutal to get into than MEO? Is it smoother on the come-up, or as a newbie do you get the same levels of terror/death going into it? EDIT: Saw some mixed reports & quite a bit of negativity in the 2013 Swedish thread - but elsewhere some seem to think it’s kinder than 5-meo. Looking forward to more reports.
  6. Cannabis is a perfectly acceptable substance for exploration, I think people are confusing this with habitual smoking just to get high and avoid life. It's had a history of ceremonial use for a few thousand years now. It's just common sense to be aware of the adictive qualities & avoid doing it too often.
  7. @Leo Gura Thank you.
  8. @Leo Gura What’s the journey/process that makes this difficult experience transform to a fulfilling positive experience with total acceptance of the facts? Is it just a matter of experiencing the awaking many times until one is comfortable with it? i.e. many 5-Meo trips?
  9. Does anyone here who uses 5-meo have epilepsy? I'm curious as to if people find their epilepsy is triggered by the drug as I've had seizures in the past & want to start my 5-meo journey.
  10. @Ulax I think you’ve made an assumption - I’m basing on my assessment on many years of searching & listening to enlightened teachings. Leo’s teaching are much more on the money than you think, and have a huge amount of depth and insight - very far from just some guy producing professional seeming videos.
  11. @Leo Gura Such great advice, thanks Leo. You hit the nail on the head - this seems like the best balance for me. @WelcometoReality Nice one, head rolls sound like a good idea ?
  12. Everything I do to 'practice' meditation, concentration or body awareness causes tenstion in my head that's very hard to shift. Everything except 'do-nothing' meditation. I guess everyne's dfifferent and that's just the way it seems to work for me for some reason. The propensity to create tension during meditation practices has been a problem since my 20s. It's a shame, as I'm getting amazing results from concentration, but just end up with lastin head tension afterwards. Same with body awareness - works amazingly to bring me into presence but I can't get away from creating head tension. Even arriving at no tension during do-nothing meditation takes a while. I just have this propensity to build tension from actively 'doing' meditation practices hard baked into me from my misguided early meditation practices 30 years ago. I've tried letting go of that belief, but in doing so nothing changed. Am I just a person who should just use do-nothing meditation, enquiry and psychedelics - the only things that don't produce head tension for me? I feel it may well be so - I'm thinking we all have to work with our personal idiosyncracies and perhaps I need to just accept this as being one of mine..
  13. @Leo Gura Thanks so much - would you say that this gentle but firm concentration on doing nothing equates to maintaining an unbroken stream of being aware of being aware? So simple consistent awakeness to the moment can come the closest to an effortless concentration method? Apologies if the wording's not the best, I'm trying to feel my way.. Also body awareness has been great apart from the tension. Can I assume effortless body awareness will come naturally after a decent amount of do-nothing meditation?
  14. @Scholar Looking at his huge amount of videos, don't you agree that he's done the work? I've never seen such a succinct and all encompassing dive into the foundational and advanced topics and practices involved. I'm incredibly grateful, it's the first setup I've found that really works with my cerebral type mind. I'm no expert but it seems obvious from his 500 or so videos that he seems to have developed his mind to a good degree.
  15. Interesting - could that have been because you'd already been so attuned to god conciousness through 5-Meo? I wonder if it's possible on weed having never taken 5-Meo.
  16. Thanks Leo, I'll check Reddit
  17. A good while ago I posted a topic about my worries that my relationship with my wife would suffer if I pursue enlightenment work to the highest levels. @Leo Gura mentioned the following: ”Anything you're attached to will hold you back from ultimate truth. Because truth is infinite and all attachments are finite.” I’m looking to delve into this a little deeper. This is of course mentioned elsewhere in spiritual circles & I expect that it’s unfortunately true. Is it therefore inevitable that those in relationships must split apart before one of the couple attains enlightenment? And how does that happen? Do people drift apart naturally? I remember reading that the enlightened master Nisargadatta Maharaj left his wife on awakening, but returned to her later & gave satsang from their family home. I’ve engineered my life so I finally have a lot of free time so I can concentrate 100% on waking up. But I have a disabled daughter I care for and a loving wife that I can’t (and don’t want to) leave as I have a central caring role. Being in this position, am I permanently barred from enlightenment, even though I now have 6 hours a day to do the work (while my daughter is at a day centre) and intend to make the most of psychedelics to maximise my chances?
  18. Interesting - I've been researching if it's possible to have a fearless breakthrough, it sounds like you might have the answer. Could be revolutionary as to how we approach the drug.
  19. Thanks all, some fabulous replies. What a great forum this is..
  20. Try Simplenote, it’s wonderfully simple.
  21. I like this comment. Very much interested in what others have to say on this too.
  22. I’m interested in what people feel about establishing a daily routine of practices for awakening? There are quite a few practices that Leo suggests that should be done daily and consistently to achieve results - concentration, meditation, contemplation, visualisation etc. To be done consistently, time would have to be allotted for all these and more, some both morning & night. So do people here generally have a fixed daily routing for this stuff? Or do they approach the process in a more fluid/ less rigid way?
  23. Slightly daunting but good. I’m older & have engineered my life for this moment so I can have the space to do the work. It’s been a couple of years of planning & I finally have the time & space. So I’m serious about doing the work, but have never gelled with strict routine before. But also I’m not good with consistency without a routine, so a routine might be the solution here as I want to make consistent progress without any fluff. Perhaps it can also be detrimental or too rigid for the path of awakening - that’s what I’m trying to find out. Yes, 5-Meo is definitely going to be a focus when I’m ready. I’m aiming to spend a good amount of time stabilising my mind, doing the practices & getting healthier beforehand. I’m really at base camp here - which is why I’m wondering if a strict routine could be beneficial to gain momentum - or not..
