In those countries, poor people are the perfect target for religions.

@Husseinisdoingfine Why not learn some skill and get a job and learn what you like along the way? Maybe you can save money and then apply to college for sociology. You wouldn't even have to worry what your family thinks about your education.

Well, they have to because things like language, etc. don't really reflect their identity. It's like as if your test was based on the subject you learned before, but theirs isn't. -

The important thing here is that you didn't buy those cars. There could be more cars hidden away in your garage, or none at all. -

@Bobby_2021 I agree with you in that when deconstructing, I can discover what other things I could be attracted to and have a better understanding of my attraction, but I don't change it. I disagree. It's just that they are taught ideas from a young age that don't reflect that much what they really are. -

@Keryo Koffa I think what makes this stuff confusing is our projection. -

@Bobby_2021 Do you choose to be attracted or not attracted to a table? (I'm not saying you can't be attracted to it) Even if you can change what you're attracted to, that doesn't mean everyone can. Maybe you're different in that regard. I hope you're aware of the underlying reasons why you do it. -

@Emerald Why would even someone want to become gay even if it's possible the way he says? πβΊοΈβ¨ (It doesn't have to be the obvious one) π -

@Keryo Koffa Sure, it's complicated. But we are talking about whether you can change who you're attracted to. Also, I'm not talking about how cultural beliefs shape people. Why do gay people still exist in cultures where homophobia is prevalent? I think people are discovering, not changing without having deep reasons. -

@Keryo Koffa If you're a straight male and act gay for a while, do you think you would become attracted to males? Acting gay can also mean many different things. Often people think being gay means being feminine. -

@Emerald As I can remember, he thinks that gender and sex are the same. Maybe that affects how he thinks about this stuff. -
I hope it's not that. You couldn't be too careful if you also considered that. Anyways. Good. Your will to find the solution is the solution, regardless of whether you find it now or 10 years later. I think this thread is just a reaction to your hopelessness, which is understandable.
-
@Sugarcoat Focus on the fact that you have the will to act. I think that you gaslighted yourself with spirituality. I'm saying this based on the way you explained your situation. Maybe, like you say, the problem is in your brain or maybe something else, I see that you want to change your situation. Stay focused on that.

Maybe you are bi or you are confusing it with acting gay or behaving in a way that is typical to gays. -
@Princess Arabia The problem is, how do we know if it's consensual? It's difficult. How can we differentiate a person who likes that from a person who is really threatened, etc.? I think having safeguards against rape is important.
-
@Davino I don't see a problem if, for example, two people, one who likes to be raped by someone who likes to rape, no matter how much it could be horrifying for others. But I am against the rape that is not actually consensual, which is more prevalent. Rape wouldn't be so negatively viewed if it were actually consensual for people.
-
@Davino I would even say that if people liked and enjoyed that dynamic, then I don't see a problem. A person would be of low consciousness if they raped someone without understanding them and the consequences that it could have.
-
I think we are confusing people who have a rapist mindset with people who rape because of some lack.
-
Well, we also have to consider the low development factor. Sexual frustration could slow down your development. Even masturbation is viewed negatively.
-
@Moutushi Young men on the streets act like dogs there. It's no coincidence that random men and women don't sit mixed. Ironically, the repressive systems make the problem worse.
-
@Princess Arabia But who said prostitution is accepted and viewed as not negative there?
-
@Princess Arabia Well, I think people here were saying that it can lead to it, as those don't really think of the consequences beforehand. It doesn't mean a sexually frustrated person is a rapist by default. If you crave something you don't have access to, it can be challenging to consider multiple options or pathways before doing it. The important context here is that in traditionalistic countries, marriage should happen before having sex. Even if married, people are repressed. You don't really choose your partner. Even if you do, your family and relatives can ruin your life.
-
@Princess Arabia Why don't you agree that sexual frustration also could lead to rape? There's at least someone who has more power than someone else. If someone had sexual frustration, they could abuse their power. It's another matter to know which one is the underlying motivation. Maybe, it's both.
