Wholeheartedly agree. I know someone who has been drinking since he was 8, his family even buys alcohol for him whenever asks for it. It literally brings zero benefit to your life but (some) people call you a pussy if you don’t try it... classic crabs in a bucket.

A lot of times, I over-theorize and overanalyse things. It’s not in the typical way of overanalyses like dwelling over something someone said. For me, it’s because I always want to find the very best way to do something. I’m a “maximiser”. My mind doesn’t accept “good enough”, it wants the very best way to do something. This is counterproductive because I spend too much researching the very best way to do something rather than just take action on something that’s just ‘good enough’ for my needs, and then refine along the way. My mind tricks me into thinking “You should do some more research to find the best way/tool to do this thing/live your life before wasting your time going down the wrong path”. Logically, I know that the only way to know if a path is wrong for me is to throw myself into it and experience it for myself. But my mind still tricks me into “Do more research”. So what should I do to stop being a slave to my theorizing? One idea I have is: To determine the ceiling/limit for my research, I can stop researching as soon as I find a solution to the needs I have. Any more research above that without any action will produce diminishing returns. So it’s at the point that I find the solutions to the needs I have through my research, that I flip the switch into action-taking mode. Any other ideas/suggestions/thoughts?

Late teens eh? What about middle teens (Just kidding) What would you say is the right age to try them?

@Leo Gura I intuitively know that it doesn’t bring me results. But the pull of my mind is so fucking strong. It’s such a tricky thing. It’s such a strong compulsion that I wonder if I have OCD or OCD-like symptoms. Then again, I need to be more aware of what I am wanting results for. To know if I’m getting results or making progress, I need to have the end in mind, or the goal in mind. Okay, I’ve just had the idea to create a worksheet. Going to write it here so others can use it too if they want. (Excuse the formatting, I write in Markdown. Paste this into a word processor or app that reads Markdown to see it better.) ## Goal (The result you want): ### What is the purpose of your analysis? ### How is your analysis serving your goal? ### How is your analysis **derailing** your goal? ### How are you being rigid/repetitive in the way you are approaching this? ### What is a better way of approaching this? ## Now, incorporate the [[Sedona Method]] Sources: 1. [Personal Development Blueprint - Sedona Method, Actualized.org](https://www.actualized.org/blueprint/sedona-method) > First, feel the analysis paralysis. > Just feel it. > Now label it “This is analysis paralysis”. #### Step #1 Ask yourself: "Could I let this analysis paralysis go?" #### Step #3: Ask yourself, "Would I let this analysis paralysis go?" #### Step #4: Ask yourself, "When will I let this analysis paralysis go?" #### Step #5: repeat steps 1-4 at least 3 or 4 times, or until you can't feel the emotion any more.

I’d say there’s a distinction. Perhaps it’s not entertaining. But it’s probably satisfying and fulfilling. @Leo Gura What do you do for rest, fun, off time, and recreation, Leo?

That’s quite interesting. Where could I learn more about this? Is it possible to be autistic and appear “normal” on the outside? (Even if appearing normal takes more effort for an autist than a neurotypical?)

@Bobby_2021 How?

@Fearey Thanks. What were the top 3-5 things that you did to overcome that situation? I went through a phase a couple of years ago where I delved balls deep into Integral Theory and Ken Wilber’s work. His work combined intellectually orgasmic concepts into even more intellectually orgasmic concepts I’m definitely interested in your perspective on it. Also, what are your thoughts on the highest stage he’s talked about; Supermind?

Of course it is. I mean, what activities would fit your idea of recreation? Fiction can still be a part of your personal development. It might not explicitly improve your life, but it can inspire you and move you. Have you read "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho? That's said to be a good fiction book that draws parallels to your own life. Even Leo recommends it. I don't read fiction as I primarily read non-fiction, but I'm also planning on reading that book down the line. I've just looked at summaries and the key ideas/concepts so far.
-
@Fearey That’s really inspiring. May I ask how long it took you reach the point you’re at, and how old you are (just a range is fine if you’d prefer)?
-
That’s it? You can’t think of anything better to achieve than a negatively motivated goal in TEN years? I’m sure there’s things that you actually want... other than not want.
-
Curiosity is the key. Read books on things you’re genuinely curious about. What is your idea of recreation anyway?
-
@Snader That’s the one. Thank you
-
Personal growth is its own recreation. You said you’re not at that stage yet - How long have you been doing personal development for?
-
I can vouch for his books The INTP and The INTP Quest. Read them 2 years ago but I recall gaining a lot of self-understanding from them. Especially helpful if you’ve always felt like an outcast out of your peers in real life.

@Fearey That’s interesting, thanks for sharing. Do you enjoy it now? Sorry to hear about that. That’s inspiring though. How did you learn? Was it all online? What resources did you use? And how is your life situation now? Financially and emotionally?
-
@Fearey A few questions: Why did you choose it? Do you enjoy it? Did you go to university for it? @Yarco Why do you want to be in the middle of nowhere/off the grid? That's interesting. What is the point of that? Taking the question into account literally (10 years) you'd only have 3 years to pay off your student debt, unless you already had the capital beforehand.
-
@Fearey Are you a software developer?
-
@Husseinisdoingfine @bythos Why? (Not against your decision, just curious to why) And why can't you retreat to a monastery right now? For me, instead of going to a monastery, I'd rather become financially free - which entails a high 7-figure to 8-figure net worth - and do my consciousness work in the way that is best suited to me and not under the rigid rules of a monastery. I'd be able to go to a cabin in the woods and do the practices solo instead of around other people like in a monastery.

I have had gut issues for a while which is likely contributing to my fatigue, brain fog, depression, and low motivation. But I am also considering heavy metal toxicity, as these symptoms can be caused by so many factors. I have yet to do a provoked urine test to see if I actually have heavy metal toxicity, as I am not fully sure which company's test to do. Perhaps I'll do the same one that Leo did (the one by Doctor's Data) but I don't know where to find it in my country. I know that if this is done incorrectly, it can mess me up even more. Is it worth consulting with a professional? If so, who should I consult with? Does anyone know of any reputable people online?
-
@Average Investor Did you get tested for heavy metal toxicity or did you jump straight into treatment? Thanks for the recommendation. What would you say you got from it in terms of tangible results? How did the 6 week protocol help you?

@Striving for more Any update? Have you started it?

@mmKay Have you read it now?

For domain registrars, I’ve used Namecheap with no issues. Be careful with researching online articles as some of them are affiliated with the domain registrars they mention. Craylor Made on YouTube has good content on things related to websites. You can look into his stuff.
