  1. tried them but to me they have too many side effects
  2. just wait and see *patience*
  3. I already have some "anxiety" and overthinking issues and care a lot about how others see me etc. (the ego ) and sometimes after mindfulness meditation or after a lot of meditation, I feel like it's making me feel a bit worse. A bit loopy/out of it or even more self-aware in the bad sense, caring more about how others perceive "me" etc. maybe a bit more vulnerable. It's also not always and it's pretty hard to explain. PurpleTree would like to try a silent retreat sometime but doesn't know if it would be counter productive.
  4. Ok yea then that makes it ok? Also one of them is happening in the Now (Eckhart Tolle voice) And one already happened a long time ago and can't be changed Let's assume it's true for a moment that is some kind of genocide, concentration camp thing happening. There are Pros' and con's to that, like with everything. Pro's: Might keep the country more stable for a while, instills fear in others, more uniform society (can be a pro and a con) etc. Cons: There might be an uprising in the future, might make the divide and hate grow larger, makes the country look very bad, might be problematic for allies in the future like Pakistan etc. We can also assume it's totally untrue, what are the ramifications of that?
  5. Well first we're all teachers and students at the same time. But i find Leo pretty motivating compared to people like Eckhart Tolle, Osho, Sadhguru etc.
  6. I said it a lot of times now, i know Tibetans who told me some things. I also know some people from HK. So at least there i have some understanding, I can't know everything
  7. Is this universally accepted truth, i mean do you know about enough cases to form such an opinion? Thanks
  8. Well then we can not really believe anything anymore and we're back in the subject of conspiracy theories.¨ Turks say they are prosecuting Kurds simply because of terrorism issues, why should they lie? Nazis had their "valid" reasons for prosecuting jews, they just attacked Poland because Germans were getting killed in Poland and Hitler wanted to defend them (not) Also i know Tibetans who told me some stories. But if someone made up a total lie about my country then i'd probably try to correct it yeah but what if i didn't really know the truth and just told them what i've heard through propaganda etc.?. Erik wasn't in Tibet when it was attacked and cleansed and i don't think he was in the "concentration camps" etc. etc.
  9. Purple means counter-productive as in creating more anxiety and feeling out of it, aka creating more suffering
  10. How many people were killed/died during the great leap forward and the cultural revolution alone? How many Tibetans were killed? over a million and thousands of monasteries destroyed? Exaggerated i think not Also obviously a lot of people were led out of poverty (which is great), but for what price?
  11. see the funny thing is i don't really defend my government or country if it does dirt around the world. we should call that stuff out and bring it to light. on the other hand we should also aknowledge the good things from each region. also tibetans etc. aren't westerners so they're not looking at it from a western perspective, i know quite a few of them. If you feel the need to defend your countrys and governemts dirt, well maybe then you're kind of "brainwashed"
  12. Well then that's the problem of your "ego" then what i'm doing now is trying to be aware or awareness a lot of times during the day without sitting down meditation and i really like that. Purple has done it on and off for like 5,6 years so it's not like he's totally new. The longest i've done it consistently was about 10 months or so everyday 20-60 minutes but didn't really feel "good" in the end and stopped doing it. Also i've read online that meditation makes some people feel worse after i googled it, so i'm not the only one but i wanted to see how it is in this forum.
  13. That's what PurpleTree generally does, thanks though I find statements like "never" a bit dangerous
  14. Ok you convinced me, the "concentration camps", throwing people in jail for criticising the government, tibet, persecution of falun gong, christians etc. not allowing artistic freedom and freedom of speech are actually a good thing. not
  15. well he seems very "brainwashed" regarding the subject imo i'm not saying i'm not brainwashed either in some ways btw. we probably all are in some form or another
  16. ^^why are you defending china and the ccp so much?
  17. Are you Chinese if you don't mind me asking?
  18. Think i'll start a 4-7 day water fast tomorrow. Did a 10 day water fast once earlier this year. i got into it because i tend to have some stomach/gut issues but fasting is kind of a spiritual experience in itself.
  19. Will they just let you live there if you don't spend real money? You need some kind of tourist Visa etc. for Vietnam nah?
  20. that's why i don't eat lunch anymore i eat a breakfast which includes protein and then i eat a big dinner during the day i eat some fruits here and there, maybe some dark chocolate, nuts and olives as snack. not me, if i eat a bowl of vegan pasta etc. for lunch i still feel tired afterwards
  21. Hi there Through some books, videos, meditation etc. i can be conscious of (my) consciousness or aware of my awareness. Kind of put the focus on my awareness or that "space" I've been in and out of spirituality but have been practicing this for the last two weeks as much as i can in daily life. And it's a nice kind of subtle "feeling". It's also enjoyable because i get lost in thought/feelings etc. pretty easily and if i put the focus on consciousness much less thoughts etc. pop up My question is, during activities like jogging, meeting people etc. should one also try to stay conscious of consciousness as much as he/she can. Or if i'm jogging in the forest should i move my focus mostly to nature and the surroundings etc. and if i'm meeting somebody put the focus mostly on them etc.? (obviously if i'm jogging in the forest for example there is quite some focus on the surroundings too, even if i try to stay conscious, or else i'd just trip and fall etc.) Also we're all not on exactly the same path, we all have our own practices etc. but since i never had a teacher and learned mostly through books and internet etc. i wonder if i'm on the right path with this. So i'm just looking for some insights.
