Moksha replied to Gneh Onebar's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
It depends on the level of Consciousness of the people engaged. Tolle talks about having political conversations with other relatively Conscious people. Enlightenment doesn't mean you don't have opinions; it means you don't identify with those opinions. To me, this is the perfect cosmic soup for any kind of discussion. Two Conscious people, sharing their perspectives, without attachment to the outcomes of their discussion. That is true discourse. -

Damn, I wish I had a teacher like you back in my college days. -

Debates are inherently conceptual, and very rarely eventuate in enlightenment. The teacher with an unwilling student is better served by moving on. Might other people learn from the debate? Maybe, but even they are likely to see as they currently see, and leave as they already are. -

I hear you, but it's a case of damned if you do or don't. Publicity has a tendency to superinflate egos. Take Donald Trump. Would you prefer to feed his ego by debating him at one of his rallies, or to just ignore him? In Leo's case, ignoring isn't the best option either, because it makes him look like he has something to hide. Welcoming honest criticism in a more limited setting seems like a reasonable compromise. -

You could similarly ask for a proper picture of an electron. At that level of inspection, our illusion of particular cohesion begins to fray at the edges. Reality is no longer "this" or "that", but "from which perspective". -

As I see it, our creative ability is limited by our degree of localization. The more Conscious we are, the more freedom there is for creation. As the part of us that is unconditioned Consciousness, we already effortlessly create everything. -

We're all in it with you man You don't have to wait for the next life, start dissolving your ego here and now. It will hate you for it, but it is no match for unconditional love. -

Openly inviting criticisms and complaints is hardly staying in your comfort zone. -

Sounds like derealization: Derealization is a mental state where you feel detached from your surroundings. People and objects around you may seem unreal. Even so, you're aware that this altered state isn't normal. More than half of all people may have this disconnection from reality once in their lifetime. When you are in the state of no-mind, what are you noticing? -

Yes, everything arises from, is encompassed by, and returns to God. God is the abode of the cosmos. Some of my favorite pointers: The Day of Brahma ends after a thousand yugas and the Night of Brahma ends after a thousand yugas. When the day of Brahma dawns, forms are brought forth from the Unmanifest; when the night of Brahma comes, these forms merge in the Formless again. This multitude of beings is created and destroyed again and again in the succeeding days and nights of Brahma. But beyond this formless state there is another, unmanifested reality, which is eternal and is not dissolved when the cosmos is destroyed. There is nothing that exists separate from me, Arjuna. The entire universe is suspended from me as my necklace of jewels. Lord of the gods, you are the abode of the universe. Changeless, you are what is and what is not, and beyond the duality of existence and nonexistence. You are the first among the gods, the timeless spirit, the resting place of all beings. You are the knower and the thing which is known. You are the final home; with your infinite form you pervade the cosmos. -

I will try to answer, but my advice is to think less about the nature of water, and drink it. Consciousness is infinite, it is formless, it is motionless, it is timeless, and it is changeless. The only way for it to experience anything is for it to dream. All creation, all diversification, all forms, all motions, all directions, all senses, all thoughts, all feelings, all perceptions, and all sensations, are illusions that Consciousness dreams, in order to experience. Why does Consciousness want to experience anything? I suppose because it is better than nothing, which is what Consciousness is. -

@James123 I agree with you. Awakening is directly realizing yourself as Consciousness, absolutely free from thought. The nice thing is, after you wake up, you get to start using your mind, instead of it using you. Another synchronicity from this morning's meditation: As irrigators lead water where they want, as archers make their arrows straight, as carpenters carve wood, the wise shape their minds. -

Don't worry about anything. Learn to discipline your mind and your senses, and enjoy the goodness that you are. I like synchronicities, so here is something I was reading just now. Notice the relationship between selfishness and suffering. Goodness isn't some moral abstraction, it is simply doing that which brings joy. The immature are their own enemies, doing selfish deeds which will bring them sorrow. That deed is selfish which brings remorse and suffering in its wake. But good is that deed which brings no remorse, only happiness in its wake. Sweet are selfish deeds to the immature until they see the results; when they see the results, they suffer. Even if they fast month after month, eating with only the tip of a blade of grass, they are not worth a sixteenth part of one who truly understands dharma. -

There is no door, just the illusion of the ego. -

People don't raise their Consciousness. Consciousness raises them. It's silly and arbitrary to assign a number to this. Was Eckhart Tolle 90% conscious at 28, then magically became 100% conscious at 29? -
Moksha replied to James123's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Your intuition is correct. When you are breaking through the wall, it is a long tunnel of darkness. When you finally break through, it is unconditional love and light. You see with spiritual eyes, and realize the sameness in everything and everyone. There is no "better than" or "worse than" any more, just Consciousness doing its thang. -
Moksha replied to Gesundheit's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
You are at a key insight here. The question of how God as the formless, changeless, reality interacts with infinite forms, change, and illusion is why the ancient gurus called it the Mystery. God's ways are higher than our ways, and God's thoughts are higher than our thoughts. As humans, we literally cannot conceptualize God. The moment we even name it, we miss it. So why try? We can bang our hands against the ice Wall forever, or we can fly the dragon to the other side. Damn, I miss that show. -

I like emptiness slightly better than nothingness, because it invokes the question: empty of what? Empty of illusion, but infinitely abundant with Consciousness. -
