  1. This is a beautiful video. This issue is very, very close to my heart. I have worked in very difficult areas where there’s been massive human rights crises, with people who are usually called ‘difficult’, ‘violent’, ‘criminals’ and I can assuredly tell you that albeit they are labelled as such, they are not bad people. Most do not recognise that these people are hurt children. They have channelised their hurt to the wrong spaces because nobody explained what was going on to them; they grew up in circumstances that we cannot even begin to understand - and this gives us no right to judge them for creating chaos. They were born into a system where they have no choice; and it’s a domino effect - trauma runs through generations. Who teaches whom, then? Who is there to tell that it is not their fault that they were treated in such a manner? One needs to only tap into the love in their heart - it’s there, and it’s scared to come out in the open - because love is not what ensures their survival, being ruthless does. People need to know that love and kindness can go a long way, and I am sure when I tell you that when people who are most hard to love, recognise the love that resides within them, they love hard! . Do you know the power of one tight, warm, genuine hug? .
  2. If this is her area of interest, there’s so much you can talk about, while incorporating your areas of interest. Talk about places you’ve been to, the culture, food, places you wish to visit - there’s so much to discuss about human behaviour, psychology here - a good intersection. Let it be natural. Don’t force it. Don’t try to be someone you are not - just try to establish a good rapport by getting to know her- because you wish to take the initiative, first.
  3. I Dreamed a Dream - Les Misérables - Patti LuPone
  4. I mean, yeah. Look at Jennifer Lawrence - I love her. She has made her clumsy and embarrassing moments her strength - look at her videos / interviews. Then, there’s Jack Nicholson - to a ‘suave’ person, he may seem cringe - but he owns his cringe - that’s his game. How to own your cringe? That primarily comes with not taking yourself too seriously. . Have I used too many Hollywood examples? Yikes. *cringes* . All the best.
  5. Hey @PhilGR, If we are not talking about the 'good' and 'bad' aspects of it, and just are talking about their right to take away their lives - what do you have to say about these two examples - are both these situations the same? 1) A 17 year old jumping off the building after a heartbreak 2) A suicide bomber in a mall. They both wish to commit the same act - but should both have the same right? If you tell that the suicide bomber shouldn't be given the right because he will end up killing other people - you have already taken a moral position, and there is a presupposition of certain ethical standards - and hence, it becomes relative.

  7. I am seriously considering starting the OMAD diet, but a little scared, though - the internet search says it is risky and not good for overall health; on the spiritual side, it seems beneficial. Shall be happy if I could get some advice. Questions: 1) For how long can I do this? (Sporadic vs Continuous) 2) Are there any general precautions that I need to take? 3) What to do when I am feeling very hungry? (I tend to get headaches when I have not completed my nutrition requirements for the day) 4) For how long does the withdrawal process last? 5) Are there any things that women, specifically, need to keep in mind before starting this diet? 6) Best and worst foods / time? 7) Intake of coffee? (I have it twice a day) 8) Any other advice? 9) Share your stories, maybe? . Thank you.
  8. Why don't you get a workout buddy? Once this gets on track, the discipline in the art projects will follow. . Also, start your day with watching some motivating videos like that of Arnold Schwarzenegger's, and while you are still feeling motivated, go and work out.

  10. Hey @KenDo, Thank you for your answer. I gave The Amen Diet a cursory glance - it seems a little tough, haha - nonetheless, shall do further research on it.
  11. Shall check them out. That's the same reason I am planning to try it - I want to test my limits. I read somewhere that hunger is the first element of self-discipline and if one can control what they eat and drink, they can control a majority of other things in their lives. . Thank you for your insights, @PurpleTree.
  12. Damn, that's brave. . Could you share your experience? How hard was it? What are the benefits you noticed?
  13. Hey @Username, Thank you for such a comprehensive answer. I will go through the videos and the other links you have attached.
  14. Our emotions have always been paleolithic, and pattern recognition happens when we study it through time. Where we are right now is because we took the path these emotions laid out for us. Of course, in the meta-sense it is all imaginary - your question, breathing, hunger, grandma's cookies, grandma. However, you wouldn't be using this forum on your gadget to ask this question if it were not for history. The institutions and god-like technology that we have is all due to diligent study over time, through success and failure - on what served these paleolithic emotions the best. You are the manufacturer and product of history - don't you want to know what you comprise of? It's all a part of 'feeling' and 'understanding'. Now that I think about it, what else do we have other than history?
  15. The advertising firms have done a good job with this customer base.
  16. Yeah. I'll spread it out over a period of time - in a descending order of consumption with an ascending order of intervals - with each diet serving an an entry into another. Thank you!

  18. Yes, your help is immensely appreciated. To answer your question - I have done intermittent fasting previously; right now, I am not.
  19. My family is Muslim, and I have observed Ramadan - so that shows commitment, eh? Still, there's an eating window there, and it is bearable - except for not getting to drink water. If you could answer this, too - I soon plan to get into water fasts. How long should I wait until that? I am using OMAD just as an entry into that. . Thank you for your answers, Osaid.

  21. It's not about 'curing', friend. Exercise and nutrition help in holistic healing. Attaching some research on the benefits of exercise and nutrition in addiction recovery for your perusal: 1) https://newchoicestc.com/blog/nutrition-and-exercise-in-addiction-recovery-what-role-do-they-play-nc/ 2) https://www.rivermendhealth.com/resources/diet-and-exercise-play-a-vital-role-in-addiction-recovery/
  22. @Striving for more, Do you exercise? People who eat fewer vegetables and fruits are also less likely to exercise. That, coupled with large amounts of fat and sugar can be detrimental to your health.
  23. Everyday? Are you sure? Chocolate has small amounts of cannabinoids and amphetamine-like chemicals that make it very addictive - and it is mostly made up of fat and sugar. Also, eating less of one kind of food, like fruits and vegetables, is usually associated with eating more of another - like, chocolates. . I really think you should cut down on the daily consumption of chocolate.
