  1. What are some high paying jobs for artistic, creative people? The ones that provide great security — monetary and asset-wise — as well as an outlet for our passions? For the highly imaginative and spontaneous kind. Also, is there anyone here who has had massive success realising and putting to use their creative side?
  2. Please share your favourites. Any language of your choice.
  3. What are the things that could possibly happen? Who is it going to impact the worst? Where is it going to take the world in terms of progress? I really hope that Biden wins, but by any chance of bad luck, if Trump does, is there at least a slight glimmer of hope to look forward to?
  4. Yes. It is altogether more scary at this present day and age where just a single tweet will end up serving as a catalyst to something abominable. This centralisation of power at even the most decentralised levels is going to cause much consternation in the time to come. Previously, in the older times (again, correct me if I am wrong) there was a clear divide between the people at the top and the people at the working-class levels or below. They were, unfortunately, victims of that kind of control. The only difference being that they were fed ideas from a top-down level. They didn’t know much, and they were okay with complying because of the lack of information that there was. Now, I would like put my thought out here — Right now, due to the internet, there is no such clear divide. It is no more ‘one leader’ and other people — this form of othering is not as sharp. My fear is that due to this constant exchange of information, and so, so much false information, there’s this one giant, where probably Trump/other dictators are like the mouth or whatever, but the people who worship them work like a body that think, work and want to be like him. It’s no more a leader-people dynamic. It’s a giant monster — an amalgam of many like-minded ones (and not the best ones). It’s becoming a new norm everywhere in the world, too. Here, the leader does not even have to use force, just a small tweet, and there will be domino effect in a bad direction. False information, in my opinion, is worse than lack of information. It’s lethal. Never have people felt this included (social media/real-time opinions/ forming groups and creating havoc just at the drop of a hat), and now, Trump is no more a leader, he’s an extension of themselves. Same for other leaders, too. I hope I could convey this idea in a pellucid sense. There’s a lot more I want to say, but God, this is exhausting and painful to witness.
  5. What if Trump ends up changing the basic structure of the Constitution — where he grants himself unabridged, excessive control and power? Yes, I fervently hope all that @Preety_India mentioned proves to be right — the increase in the consciousness of people with respect to their rights — but the worrying thing over here is, what if these 4 years are enough time for him to change and impact things negatively? What if he superimposes himself atop the Constitution? It is more than possible now given the situation at the Supreme Court, etc. On top of that, all the major powers have dictators as their leaders, who are now changing rules to extend their term in office without any opposition. What if Donald does something of that sort? Correct me if I am wrong (and I hope I am wrong in this matter), the future seems very scary — something that history hasn’t even witnessed and the something that we aren’t able to anticipate, perhaps. In this age of the internet, how different is this time in history going to be seen? How different/similar is this storm before the calm? Where we are now in terms of humanity, is more plausible a place, or are we regressing further, day by day?
  6. Yes, I agree. The only emollient needed to treat this wound would be solidarity. Would another 4 years give a chance to the progressives to come together, as a united bunch, leading the path to a political revolution? That, their voices would get much more stronger and their opposition, sharp and demanding? Could this be our slight glimmer of hope? Or, ...is it all downhill from here?
  7. What is the future of social media technology? People like Garyvee constantly argue that technology is the real deal, and that they are extremely comfortable with their children using technology every second of their life, etc. I get it — watching educational content, something like Leo’s videos, reading e-books, or for reasons like maintaining a business, expansion of knowledge purposes is a completely different use of technology. However, my question revolves around social media, basically. Now, I am super scared. Is this what our reality is turning into —people on their phones conversing with othets virtually all the time? Are we going to lose true connect with other people? Plus, the filters, constant dopamine hit — what does that mean for our future? What is going to happen? Where is this going to lead our society as a whole? Is this going to impact humanity collectively in a negative manner? Or this something we got to get used to, else we’ll be left out?
  8. I have been in search of a natural remedy that would help alleviate my asthmatic symptoms. I haven’t found one, yet. Moreover, those that I did find are of the ephemeral-emollient kind. @Michael569 Michael, I hope you could provide certain solutions to me, too. Answers to your questions: 1) I have tried all that western medicine has to offer on this specific subject. Still no relief. 2) I have just transitioned into vegetarianism. I eat eggs, though. My diet is healthy. I eat healthy, fresh foods, and seldom indulge in junk food. I wouldn’t say that I consume a lot of sugar, but it is, nevertheless, an important component of my diet — I’d say, about 7 teaspoons a day, in the maximum sense. 3) I workout, but in a sporadic manner. I tend to feel asthmatic, and this acts as a deterrent sometimes. I do HIIT nowadays. Have to start working out regularly, though. 4) No, I do not smoke or drink. 5) Yes, I have chronic allergic rhinitis. Antihistamines are a regular — every alternate day. I spoke to my doctor and he told me that this is an ailment that would persist throughout my life, and can only be brought under control. He told me that this cannot be cured, ever. An important point here is that it is genetic — my grandfather, father and my brother (he has no asthma, though and is a fitness freak) all have it. 5) I have had this from when I was 10 years old. I just turned 24. I have had this for 13 years. Sometimes I tend to think that I have had this for so long, that I begin to show symptoms if I do not have my medicines around — inhaler and antihistamines — it actually scares me, this psychological dependence. It feels psychosomatic at instances, too. I want to rid myself of this dependence to medicine. I do not like the process of steaming, like people usually advice, because it triggers bad allergy, where I begin to sneeze incessantly. If you could help me, I shall be very glad. Moreover, it might aid @Mondsee‘s friend, as well.
  9. How to know if we are projecting something onto somebody, or what we are actually perceiving is the true assessment of their personalities?
  10. @TripleFly Thank you for your answer. @Leo Gura Any thoughts on this, perhaps?
  11. @Preety_India That’s where the problem arises, primarily. What if they are negative traits, and that person and I don’t possess an informal relationship? Furthermore, where does one’s intuition play a role here? What if our intuition about them is precise? Can one really know without asking, because an endeavour in that field seems like something that may yield many undesirable results, as well.
  12. Hello, I would like to know your approach to reading. What are some things that help you enhance the process? Also, how do you go about academic books/papers? I am going to commence reading some really challenging, dense literature, and feel a little intimidated. Furthermore, any advice to improve retention? Hope some of you could share your strategies. Thank you
