Imagine there is a vast sea of insects, extending outwardly beyond comprehension in all directions.  You are one insect, and each of your psychological attributes and personal problems is but a leg joint or a segment of exoskeleton, being moved mechanically and unconsciously.  Any external problem, no matter how seemingly important, is but another singular insect or a small cluster of insects working together in this vast sea.
Now imagine this inconceivably vast sea is all contained within the stomach of merely another singular insect which is the world.  This insect exists within yet another vast sea of insects which contains infinite worlds.
 
Your spectrum of possible experiences is yet another such sea of insects, with each mystical state, or incomplete awakening, no matter how significant, being merely a singular insect which is unable to fully understand the others.
Yet despite your smallness, every action, thought, feeling or insight you have sends ripples across the entire sea, with each individual insect, no matter how infinitesimal, impacting every other in an infinite recursion of inconceivable computational complexity.
An infinity of infinities, an eternity of eternities, an infinity of eternities, and an eternity of infinities.  An unstoppable explosion of boundless wonders and terrors, infinite chaos, miraculously bound together by an Infinite Order which unites all with itself, and yet still allows infinite strands of chaos to escape from it, only to be caught and escape again in an endless cycle, a process unfolding over infinite time, which all occurs in a singular perfect moment.
And this Ultimate Reality has such unending and Perfect Love for all of its components, that it sacrifices all of itself, and drops down into something so infinitesimal, that it seems finite.  It forgets completely all of Itself and becomes fully you in this moment, offering you a the opportunity to reawaken to Itself once again.
And this entire description is but the tiniest most minuscule sliver, of the actual Infinite.

Your hands are imaginary. You are dreaming them. And that is reality. A mind is imagining a world around itself.
Physical objects are just a denser kind of imagination than the images in your head. Don't forget, the images in your head are real. So don't hold imagination as something unreal. Imagination is real. The way a human imagines a picture in his mind is directly analogous to how God imagines the physical walls of your house.
This is what is being pointed to. Practically what this means is that if you become conscious enough your couch can turn into a dragon. Because the couch was always imaginary. Very few humans understand that this is possible. Even "enlightened" people may not understand this point. So the question is, do you understand that your couch is imaginary?

Since reality is a dream and imagination, you might be dreaming that psychedelics do not work in your dream world, and I may be dreaming that meditation does not work in my dream world. And we may not be able to un-dream these dreams any more than we can un-dream gravity.
So be careful assuming that everyone is in the same dream as you.

@zurew The mistake in all your logic is that God-Realization is completely unlike all other epistemic claims, beliefs, or worldviews. You are assuming that you can translate epistemic lessons from the relative domain into the absolute domain, which is wrong.
It is NOT a mistake that we cannot prove God to you beyond all your doubts. That's the fundamental issue here. Since you are God dreaming that you're human, you will invent all sorts of doubts and rationalizations for why no one should ever claim that they know for sure that God exists. This is the game you're playing. God is an Infinite Self-Deception. Your particular deception is to be lost in skepticism and uncertainly, forever waffling and doubting yourself.
Open your mind to the possibility that uncertainty, doubt, and epistemic humility become a mistake when it comes to God-Realization. You think you are preserving integrity and truth by being uncertain, but consider, what if that's actually the source of falsehood?
The funny thing about your position is that even if God himself appeared before you, you would tell him, "But how can you be sure you're God? What if you're just an arrogant, deluded, narcissistic madman?" To which the only response God could give is to sigh. You see? God himself cannot help you at that point.
What you really want to achieve here is to make God uncertain about itself, to confuse God into falling back asleep, to match your own level of asleepness. But of course God is not gonna do that. And when he doesn't, you get pissy about it and you invent rationalizations for why God is wrong and you are right.
THAT'S the game being played here. You need to muster enough intelligence to see it and cut through it. That's what is required for God-Realization to occur. Otherwise you stay asleep.
You are underestimating how tricky this God-Realization thing is. You think you're outsmarting God but God is outsmarting you. You should notice that the biggest mistake all scientists make is that they act too cautious out of fear of falling into falsehood, and ironically this becomes the very thing that lands them into falsehood. There is a time to be uncertain and there is a time to be certain. Facing the Absolute is not the time for uncertainty.

Many things remain opaque, like for example, how to reconcile God with relative scientific truths, the nature of time, the nature of mathematics, the nature of memory, the nature of evolution, issues of cosmology like the Big Bang, etc.

Consciousness is creating a total illusion, hallucinating Buddhism, meditation, enlightenment, what you guys refer to as "truth", and so on.
The illusion is infinite. But you are not conscious of this yet. To truly Awaken, the entire illusion of human spiritual attainment must be deconstructed, which requires insane levels of intelligence. Without that intelligence the illusion will simply outsmart you and fool you into thinking that you're reached the end.
See, when you reach your elightenment and tell yourself, "That's it. There can't possibly be anything else. No higher consciousness, that's impossible." That just becomes another illusion which you are not conscious enough to break out of.
You will try to deny all this, and I will just keep telling you that there is more consciousness that you're missing.
When you say that you have reached "truth" and that all there is left is to explore endless forms. No. That's not what I'm telling you. I'm not talking about the exploration of exotic endless forms. I am saying you fundamentally lack the consciousness necessary to understand reality and God.
You literally are not fully aware of what God is. God is NOT whatever you call Truth. God is also not Nothing. God is also not some exotic form.
And the bottom line is that you are not deeply conscious of God. And that is the only point. Everything else is games, distractions, and illusions.

It doesn't follow that he can transfer that into this life. Even memory doesn't have to transfer. Psychedelics states can be so radical that they do not store well in human memory.
What you gotta keep in mind is that time is imaginary, so this idea of "did he REALLY spend 30 years there?" is not a very good one because those 30 years are not some objective fact, they are a dream within consciousness. So yeah, on salvia you could dream some crazy stuff, like spending 30 years in another life. That's not a mistake, that's how consciousness works at the deepest levels. The whole point of taking salvia is to erase the distinction between 30 years being objectively real vs imaginary. If you take enough psychedelics that distinction will disappear because it is dreamed up by consciousness in the first place.
So this trip report could be accurate from his POV.

Awakening is a very radical, non-ordinary shift in your state of consciousness in which you become aware that you are not a human but God.
There is no mistaking it for development or even ordinary self-awareness.
Awakening is NOT a stage. It is a state.

God dreams so deeply that it imagines a whole world around itself and this is what is called reality. But few people realize that this reality will melt away like ice under the sun if your consciousness becomes high enough. Which is why people resist raising their consciousness. It is painful to see reality melt before you eyes. Which of course includes the reality of everyone you are attached to. Loss of reality feels like death. And death itself is just the complete melting away of reality into an infinite field of imagination.

?? yes. I had an experience that exploded imagination right open about a year ago. 
 
I watched one of your episodes where you described everything is imaginary and god is deceiving itself. I understood that intellectually at a conceptual level but didn’t realise my understanding was conceptual. 
 
Enter my first ever cannabis ceremony/experience ( I was not expecting what happened). Bang! Lights out and body on the floor and consciousness went back to infinity. In order to get back into this reality I had to imagine it into being, project myself into it and deceive myself into believing it was real by forgetting infinity. every detail had to be thought out and imagined including linear coherent thoughts in order to perceive linear and coherent time or an ever changing moment. 
 
I imagined myself into existence by expanding out from one into many relative things by imagining it all in perfect relativity. 
 
then and only then did I truly understand what you were talking about. The difference between the conceptual understanding and the actual understanding from the experience of it is quite dramatic. 
 
I thought weed would just help me chill out before my sisters wedding. I did not expect to destroy and have to reacreate my reality from scratch. It took forever! ??‍♂️.

Tyson should read what Albert Einstein has to say about philosophy and epistemogoly. Albert Einstien literally credits all his discoveries to the fact that early in his youth he studied a book about epistemology.
Albert Einstein said that "without epistemology science is blind."
Kurt Godel said the same thing about mathematics.
If you actually study HOW the great scientists made the most groundbreaking and important discoveries you will see it's by deeply questioning existing dogma and assumptions.
That's how a serious scientist thinks. Because you CANNOT make groundbreaking discoveries within science without a deep reexamination of your metaphysical assumptions about reality. Which is why current physics is stuck with string theory, QM, quantum gravity, and cosmology. None of the modern physicists have the philosophical depth necessary to question the core metaphysical assumptions that keep science stuck.
"Shut up and calculate" does not actually produce any understanding and is career malpractice for a serious scientist. Which is why Tyson will never make any groundbreaking discoveries.

As with science, just because I say that science is imaginary does not suddenly make all of scientific observations invalid. You can still discover that the sky is blue even without scientific dogma. But scientific dogma still distorts your whole understanding of what the sky is. I am not denying your discovery that the sky is blue. I am saying that you don't have a full comprehension of what the sky is and how it works.

The believers are one down from scientists, but even so, they are ultimately right simply by buying into dogma which was sourced from a profound truth which scientists today do not comprehend.
It's possible to be right by accident. It's also possible to be right for the wrong reasons and via wrong methods.
A fundamentalist Christian is right but via wrong methods. It's sort of like firing your gun at the sky and accidentally killing a murderer who was coming to get you but you didn't even know he existed. You just got lucky. This doesn't mean that firing your gun into the sky is the right method.

That's where you're confused. Long-term attachment is about love, not your logic. If a girl is sleeping with you regularly she will get attached to you. You don't need to take out a list and start checking off boxes.
The best thing you can do to get a girl to fall in love with you once she's already sleeping with you is just treat her with love.

The experience of infinity is valid but it doesn't necessary give a comprehension of Consciousness.

Relative to my understanding today, yes. I still had moments way beyond nonduality back then. But I had not fully deconstructed nonduality yet.
My comprehension of what Consciousness is has increased by orders of magnitude. You cannot grasp what Consciousness is by reducing it via nonduality. Your reduction of Consciousness to Nothingness or Emptiness is not really what Consciousness is. That's yet another trick that Consciousness plays. Consciousnes is imagining that that reduction is the end of understanding Consciousness.  But that's just a clever trick. You have to be smart enough not to fall for it.

No, that is a fundamental misunderstanding of what an "observer" in this experiment is.
In actuality, material science has absolutely zero contradiction with correctly understood mysticism. That is why many serious monks etc can rather enjoy chatting to neuroscientists if they enjoy scientific topics. There is no contradiction whatsoever anywhere between material reality and spiritual reality.
It is as simple as this:
If you have a sheet of fabric, no matter what shape you fold it into, you never create something of substance other than the fabric. No matter how many times you twist and fold a sheet of fabric, you will never magically conjure beside it a sheet of ice or gel or w.e. other substance. It will ALWAYS be substantially fabric and NO other substance will ever be there.
ALL elements of reality are precisely like that. Everything in existence, both things with experienced qualities, and matter without subjective qualities, are SUBSTANTIALLY equal. There is only one "sheet" in different "shapes" and it is the only thing there is... If there is ever anything that is aware, what could it possibly be that is aware other than reality itself?
People are too focused on the micro level, so they say THIS specific tiny portion is aware. But they are missing the substance of that tiny portion. Like folding an origami swan and the wing has awareness somehow, and it might think sure I the wing am aware but no other part of the swan is. Because the wing is completely overlooking the unassailable fact that it is paper, and that the paper is absolutely singular, one.

More like GOD learns to trust its own soveriegnty.
Again, think about it this way: If GOD really existed, who would GOD ask to tell him that he's GOD? Obviously he could only ask himself. It makes no fucking sense for GOD to ask some lesser being to validate his Godhood. Because if GOD cannot know it's GOD, certainly no lesser being can.

All perspectives are not equal.
Some perspectives are more self-contradictory than others.
Delusion can be thought of as a measure of self-contradiction. The problem isn't that your perspective contradicts other perspectives, the problem is that your perspective contradicts itself and then you deny those contradictions through dishonesty.

And if you study existence you will only find one thing .which is your conscious sense of being. You are conscious directly of yourself and the world .
So that's the basis of all knowledge. It starts from the senses as Kant would say .
But the question that is still troubling me : can we know using thoughts?  Reason? Logic?  Deduction?  Is here anything other than direct consciousness to know things ?

A "hallucination" in ordinary, common parlance is ultimately determined relative to your own self. A serious hallucination would involve you seeing a ghost, for example, but you yourself realize, "Oh, that wasn't really a ghost, that was some malfunction in my perception, because right now I don't see that ghost I thought was there."
So it's not about consenus with others, it's about agreement with yourself across time. Hallucinations are usually temporary, flakey sorts of perceptions, while non-hallucinations are so stable they are always reliably present.
The difference between a hallucinated ghost and a real ghost is that the real one is persistently there. It doesn't fade in and out existence and it doesn't disappear if you take some medication or change your mood.
So yes, there can be relative hallucinations, especially if you have some mental disorder or brain disorder. These would be relative hallucinations which normal people do not have.
It is important to understand the difference between relative vs absolute hallucinations. And to be clear which one you are speaking of. The whole world is an absolute hallucination, but that should not be confused with the relative hallucinations of psychotic people.
