Just take enough. Over-preparation and thinking you can do anything to guide the experience on a high enough dose is misunderstanding the potential power of psychedelics. Enlightenment is nothing more than the unrealization of "I am x" -- associated with the permanent destruction of the sense of personal doership and all the ideas about who you really are. Essentially meaning, right and wrong become meaningless. This is why you hear people like Byron Katie saying stuff like "killing is just a murderer's job." -

Absolutely agree. The levels are there though, and they do go on forever. That imo is more amazing than enlightenment itself -- which is arguably simply transcendence of the current level, and the realization of I AM... in the sense of unrealizing: I AM X. -

100% Godhead for a human is not really 100% Godhead. 100% Godhead will take quite a number of lifetimes in the higher dimensions/realms/densities. 100% Godhead means you start over btw, as you'll be completely selfless -- you'll be everything, even the trees and the rocks. And the quarks. And the quantum foam. And allness. 100% Godhead means you're a God among men. But you're an insect relative to the next level. The levels never end -- that cannot be comprehended. There are beings in the next level that are privy to your exact state of consciousness, and my own, at this very moment, and they are completely beyond time. They seem to sometimes let me in to their social memory complex when I achieve very high states of consciousness. They are insects relative to the next level above them. And so on. Forever. This of course means you already achieved that true Godhead, an infinite number of times. You're just doing it again. What did you think the realization of the infinite fractal nature of consciousness meant? -

consciousness = awareness = knowing (or "seeming") attention = focus consciousness + intention = attention -

Jhanas arise when the mind is very still, opposing intentions in the mind harmonize, and the result is out-of-this-world-intense bliss. It happens via both insight and concentration meditation, but mainly concentration -- not concentration as in sticking to the object, but through intentionally cultivating a sense of satisfaction every time you realize your attention is not as still on the object as you would like. No need to focus on the object to the exclusion of anything else, just allow your attention to rest on the object and your only intention at first should be to be on your toes to intentionally cultivate a sense of satisfaction every time you realize your attention is not as still on the object as you would like. Eventually mind will still itself and rest on the object -- because eventually from doing this, the awareness of the quality of your attention never goes away, and becomes monitored in real time and under conscious control. And then those competing intentions in the back of your mind (imperceptible) will calm down and you'll see what they were inadvertently covering up -- intense overwhelming satisfaction. It is unlikely to reach jhana without at least 45 minute sits every day -- preferably 1-2 hours. If you begin to feel a very intense pleasant body buzz, often (but not always) beginning in the hands or sometimes the face/smile or chest, ignore it and continue the breath/etc meditation until the buzz is impossible to ignore, then shift your attention in one motion to the buzz itself... it will dissipate or get stronger. If it gets stronger, you will soon be in the 1st jhana, at which point it's all over -- you're officially addicted to meditation, lol. The 2nd jhana (doing the same thing except switching your awareness from the buzz to the happiness it brings) is even better, and so on up to the 8th jhana. The first time you enter jhana it may scare you. That's normal. It won't hurt you. The pleasure is so intense you might feel like you can't breathe. Just be aware that's normal. Rather useless info, until later: Entering 3rd jhana: happiness -> peace (the rapturous buzz that is central to the 1st jhana and peripheral to the 2nd jhana disappears entirely -- happiness without the buzz that it seemed to arise from = peace) 4th: peace -> beautiful stillness (abandoning pleasure for something more exalted) 5th: stillness -> boundless space 6th: boundless space -> boundless consciousness (this is an incredibly intense mystical experience) 7th: boundless consciousness -> perception of nothingness 8th: perception of nothingness -> mind not landing on anything, not even nothingness Nirvana: lights out; perceived after the fact as a gap, like jumping forward in time with no space in between. -

If you're still experiencing, find out who does it. Repeat. Whatever you experience is precisely not what you're looking for. Look away from experience -- allow attention to collapse back in on itself. It cannot be overstated just how simultaneously subtle and taxing this technique is. There is no rest in self inquiry, until you get to the witness. Just so you know, this isn't even mentioned until stage 8 TMI... That's 2 full stages after intentionally entering Jhana's becomes possible. Self inquiry is a very, very advanced technique. It can be done on its own, but expect great difficulty without already having cultivated very stable attention and very powerful mindfulness, and more or less perfect general meditation skill. If you've never entered at least the first or second Jhana (you will know if you have, it's obscenely pleasant), I'd implore you to at least consider working on that first. The "halfway point" of self inquiry is what some have called The Witness (Rob Burbea called it The Vastness of Awareness) -- it quite closely resembles the 6th Jhana, a state many are lucky to get to after many 10+ day retreats. Though I will say, the 6th Jhana does take quite a bit more work to get to than the witness. Even just doing standard noting for a solid hour or more at a time (about 1 note per second for the entire hour) at least once a day for a few weeks is actually somewhat likely to get you to the witness by itself, as long as you eventually tend toward looking at experience through a lens of not-self... so I'm definitely not saying it isn't very attainable -- it just might require you to take your practice to a new level and get a bit more diligent about it. -

Some of God's antics include wiping its memory on occasion in order to run experiments, learn deep lessons, and know itself in new ways. -
If you want the most effective program without having to stress over it; without causing fitness to take up a significant portion of your life/development... 3 nonconsecutive days a week (i.e. Mo/We/Fr), stop 1-2 reps (3 tops) short of failure, add weight (preferably) or reps every time -- if you fail to do this 2-3 sessions in a row for a specific exercise, take off 10 percent of the weight (for that exercise/movement only), go to 5 reps, and start the ascent again. 2.5 (1.25x2; microplates) or 5 lb jumps for most exercises (10 lb if you started too low / got over 10 reps), 5-20 lb for squat, 10-20 lb for deadlift. Always use weight that would have you failing no later than the 15th rep, but preferably by the 10th rep. 3-4 movements, same ones every single training session: Push -- barbell overhead press OR dips (NOT bench press unless alternated with overhead press, to avoid rotator cuff issues and imbalances, but then you'd be doing them less often, so it's probably best to just choose dips or press and stick with it) -- 2+ (ramped) warm up sets of 5, 3 work sets of 5-10 Pull -- weighted chin-ups (underhand grip) OR bent-over barbell rows -- 2+ warm up sets of 5, 3 work sets of 5-10 Lower -- deadlift -- 2+ warm up sets of 5, 1 (ONE) work set of 5-10 OR squat -- 2+ warm up sets of 5, 3 work sets of 5-10 Curls (optional) -- 2 warm up sets of 5, 1-3 work sets of 5-15 30 min low-impact weight-bearing cardio 3-6 days a week (i.e. Mon-Sat) -- stair climber OR max-incline treadmill walking (preferably with weight vest / pack) At least 2 meals a day (preferably 3-5) At least 100g protein a day -- 0.9g/lb bw is optimal (though not required) for fat-loss/cut/recomp (162g / 180 lb bw) At least 125g carbs a day (thyroid may crash below this) (keto not recommended imo but it probably isn't going to kill you) Limit vegetable oils If you would like to lose weight, or you don't mind skipping breakfast in general, intermittent fasting can be a VERY powerful tool for many -- limit eating hours to 8 per day (i.e. don't consume anything other than water outside the hours of 2 PM to 10 PM) -- for some it can be somewhat of a holy grail, as it allows you to basically not even have to think about portion control, provided you eat enough protein and do a proper lifting protocol.

https://www.lawofone.info/ Generally I’d be the first to dismiss any such thing as airy fairy bs but after copious psychedelics, spiritual labor, mistakes, and run-ins with the ineffable, I can proudly and calmly state that the Law of One has more to offer you than I ever could. Regardless of what exactly it is. It’s an understanding accelerator, imo. -

I've heard military men on submarines have spiritual experiences more often than other people. I heard it on some podcast and it wasn't mentioned in relation to 5G or electromagnetic waves or anything like that -- it was some completely different topic. Maybe they're out of the reach of the electromagnetic fields down there and somehow they temporarily become slightly more contemplatively fit? I have no clue.

What seems to be happening is all there is -- God -- the infinite appearing as the finite; everything appearing as something; not-anything appearing as everything; perfection appearing as imperfection; timelessness appearing as time-bound; the ineffable appearing as the effable. All of these terms have the same inherent meaning. There are no limits/bounds on what is -- it doesn't even have to be what it is -- in fact, it isn't even purely what it is, it's timelessly what it isn't. There are no limits; everything is inevitable, and everything is not-anything. All understanding is not-understanding. God = is-ness. -
The0Self replied to Zabuloon's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Surrender, meditate. The way to press on through / move on past spiritual cycles is to have momentum in observing what's happening (each sensation, or enough sensations, one at a time) exactly as it appears. The way to stay put is to get absorbed in whatever you're doing, not taking the time to investigate the sensations as they appear. Staying put can be quite useful however, as it's basically concentration, and concentration can provide additional momentum, precision, and skill which you can apply to mindful observation -- and mindful observation is how you "move on." -

God is just a label for all there is. It's an unfounded assumption to say you're other than all there is. Thinking you are God can certainly be an egoic delusion, but there's a way for which knowing you're God is anything but that. In fact, when the nature of God is fully seen, the ego is nowhere to be found -- at least not as an entity that could be confused for something real. -
The0Self replied to Mightymule's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Access concentration is the state wherein you exercise the ability to attend to whatever object you choose. Effortlessness is not required. To achieve this, your main intention should be to express gratitude every time your mind recognizes it isn’t attending to your chosen object. This positive reinforcement will cause it to happen quicker, until you no longer leave the meditation object unless you choose. This does not mean you have only the meditation object in your mind — you only attend to the meditation object. Let everything else remain in background awareness. It isn’t uncommon or wrong to have most of your conscious power delegated to background awareness, but keep the foreground/focus as the foreground/focus (object that is attended to with a light but perhaps penetrating observation). -

The horrors of illegal abortion far outweigh the so called ethical grey area of legal abortion. -
@Striving for more If you can't get weed, maybe try oleamide. You can buy it on amazon. Apparently it's one of the main compounds associated with cannabis's hypnotic effects. It seems to work very well for insomnia, according to reddit.

It does have a high propensity for exacerbating arrhythmia. More than almost any commonly used substance, in fact. If you have a tendency toward PVC's, kratom can cause you to throw a whole bunch of them. I have a ton of experience with kratom, being a former opioid addict. Unlike traditional opioids, kratom's principle alkaloid, mitragynine, bypasses beta-arrestin and uses G protein instead -- this gives it great properties such as an upper ceiling for respiratory depression, and crucially for our purposes, slower tolerance buildup. Kratom is simply an opioid with the added capability of slower tolerance buildup, so if you consider yourself as having no business using painkillers (to get high, treat pain, or for whatever purpose), consider that kratom is not much different -- it just takes a lot longer to become dependent and/or addicted. If you use it medicinally, keep daily doses under 8g... 2-3g, 1-3x/d, but since even that is not permanently sustainable (you will become dependent eventually, even if it takes a year), why start? It can be used recreationally at a dose of 3-10g but doing this more than once every 14 days would be highly, highly risky.

Is reality just a dualistic mask that hides itself (nothing) so that something can appear to happen? -
Yes. Awakening is about unknowing, and realizing emptiness, and also somewhat about letting go. But there is definitely a talent aspect involved in cultivating beautiful states such as Metta, The Witness, Jhana's, etc. Training probably trumps talent, to the extent that it even matters. Realizing emptiness/love (awakening) seems to be somewhat disconnected with experiencing progressively higher states of consciousness, though. In my experience, the best way to cultivate and assess your so-called "level" of consciousness is to view everything through the lens of everything being a miracle -- gratitude and self love.

Sounds about right. What keeps you moving forward is consistently knowing what's happening right now. If you are doing something, know what you're doing, and why you're doing it. There is no right or wrong to this stuff. It sounds like you're on a highly conscious path. Keep on meditating, and perhaps do a bit of research into what you could be doing with it. One of my favorite guides for this is Rob Burbea. -

I don't see how anyone's apparent personality would reveal whether they lead toward solipsism or nonduality. To believe that it could would be to misunderstand nonduality, solipsism, or both, in my view. Your conclusion that "he seems quite confident in walking a fine line that leans more towards solipsism than non-duality" simply does not logically follow from anything else you said. Whether you have a large social circle or not has no relation to whether or not you understand that everything, which isn't anything, is all there is, and that it's boundless and groundless. And that it's Unconditional Love, which is God, and you are that; we are that. Everyone is you, yet there isn't anyone; alone-ness and connection is just another illusory interdependent and empty duality that doesn't actually arise. -
Usually it's smooth, but sometimes I can get to 4th jhana and skip the previous ones.
