You're on the wrong track. -
https://youtu.be/Ktj050DxG7Q?t=3920 Andrew Huberman was on Lex Fridman's Podcast, he's a neuroscientist. He says "I'm happy to have a talk about consciousness, but it's a scary talk and I think most people don't want to hear what I have to say..." (link above) Every (neuro-)scientist who hasn't completely fallen prey to the materialist paradigm will have to acknowledge this - consciousness is scary to them, because they know exactly that their current approach won't cut the mustard and because they know that consciousness won't be explained away with neurons and electrical impulses. They are scared because their paradigm is under severe threat - from their own direct experience. They all know what consciousness is (or rather: is not), they just don't want to admit it - because it would mean the end of... well, everything I think/hope that we'll be witnesses of a scientific revolution, psychedelics have (rather recently) entered the chat and they are going to dissolve our naive assumptions about the world and our place in it - so will Artificial Intelligence. We can't dodge this issue any longer. Better to carefully open this new Pandora's Box than to refuse to admit what needs to be admitted and wait until consciousness ruthlessly kicks in your front door...

The current form of untrammeled western capitalism comes to an end. It has become apparent that it is utterly unsustainable, it greedily devours itself. What form of economy, society and government will follow? Will we be wise enough to initiate the transition ourselves if we want to survive, or will we be forced by our own destructive behavior to change?
-
Yes, I mean its current form will change (and thus die) Should've used other words Anyway, into what will it evolve?
-
What. Why not? At least it's partially his fault that so many people died, he completely failed at that...

Why do so many Americans think that they inhabit the greatest country in the world? Now, of course I know this doesn't apply to all Americans, many are (at least somewhat) aware of the problems and dark sides of their country, but for crying out loud, why on earth are there so many excessively patriotic people?? If the US was a person, this person would probably be diagnosed with megalomania, delusion and severe narcissism. Is it because they secretly know how messed up their society actually is and therefore have to exaggerate? Is it insecurity that they might in fact not be the greatest country on earth? Just look at this; Yes, I know, it's Tucker and Fox News, nevertheless a shitload of people deeply resonate with this message. Why? Could you imagine how the world would react if all of the sudden some other country like Germany would proclaim to be the best country in the world?

This is incredible...

@Preety_India Maybe you're interested

@Preety_India True, in that sense you have no other choice but to pick one of two sides, I understand that. But that is not the same context as "left vs right" - it's the context of "dems vs reps" (which itself is only a part of the context "left vs right"). I wasn't referring to your choice of political party (or that you (unfortunately) don't have any realistic possibility to embed nuance in your choice) , I was referring to your worldview regarding who of both left and right would be going to create what system (communism/fascism or whatever else). There I think your view lacks nuance and is oversimplified. That's a whole other issue than dems vs reps.
-
@Preety_India Well, then you are a full-fledged part of the problem which you are so eager to criticize and demonize. No right without left and no left without right.
-
@Mikael89 Anaphylactic shock incoming

How can you be so sure that 1. "the right" (look, I kinda have a problem with terms like "the right/the left" because they are so generalizing and the total opposite of nuanced thinking, which I value very much) wants to or is going to create fascism? That's a very, very, very harsh accusation, I hope you understand that. 2. "the right" is miscalculating the left? 3. "the left" is not miscalculating the right? (PS: those are more or less rhetorical questions, because you can't be sure. At least you shouldn't be sure. Even less so, if your assumptions start with ideas as unsubtle and grossly oversimplifying as "the right/ the left") That is just such a naive and crude way of thinking... There's so much more nuance to this. @Preety_India I'm only attacking your opinions, not you.
-
@Preety_India Yeah, Fascism is pretty damn bad. But dozens of millions of dead people would strongly disagree with your assumption that communism is any better. Your demonization of fascism as the ultimate and unsurpassed evil which "the right" is going to create is both way to generalizing and ignorant.

It doesn't always work like that. Yes, although you can give a short answer to a deep question, in most cases this will be completely useless. If someone asks "what is existence" and I answer "unconditional love" - then what? It doesn't explain anything. Even if the question isn't quite as deep as this, a short and simple answer (which might even be true) won't be useful for understanding. Do you know what this whole "short-answer-to-complicated-question"-enterprise is called? Ideology and dogma.

Well, the pressure on freedom of speech increases everywhere since people have become so damn entitled to their opinions by creating their little internet bubble, but it's kinda funny that you mention it, since America really seems to have a problem with it; "Fake news", Section 230 under attack, Bill C-16 (ok that's Canada, but I'll just mix you two together), extreme political correctness (extreme compared to European political correctness) associated with victim culture, the news channels not being news anymore but mere mouthpieces for two political sides battling each other, etc,. Have you seen the movie "Joker"? It contains one of my favorite lines:

I disagree. Europe and especially countries like Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Swiss, Austria, the Scandinavian countries, etc. will transition way easier into stage green than the US simply because the opposition to green isn't as great as in the US. The US I think will stay longer in a mixture of Orange and Green with a good clump of blue slowing everything down. Furthermore, jealousy isn't exactly helpful to develop towards green and quite frankly - most Europeans are rather happy not to live in the US. European countries (and people) aren't so... braggy, glitzy and don't have this "best-of-all-worlds"-attitude. What makes you think that?

That's a very interesting idea! Funny how Russia and China are the traditional enemies (especially Russia), but maybe because they are too similar

I was neither saying that Zuckerberg is the sole cause of the harm done to society (like a gun might be, which was obviously just exaggeration) nor that he is to be blamed - I was simply pointing out that providing the means to what is creating a problem is part of the problem. There's a massive difference between fault and responsibility. Turning a blind eye to this is equally part of the problem.

What if the selling of those shirts is one of the main causes for radicalization and an increasing polarization of (parts of) societies all around the world? I see what your point is, it's not the salesman's fault, but by selling those shirts he definitely pours oil into this fire, don't you think that's kinda reprehensible? It might not be his fault but it has become his responsibility (at least to some extent). "Selling a gun to a hitman is the same as pulling the trigger." Quote from Rick and Morty

How probable is a civil war in the US? Or something like extremely violent riots? The George Floyd riots were pretty... intense already, to say the least, how much potential does this new situation hold? I mean, the country is deeply divided, many people won't accept their new president and Trump will pour a lot of oil into this fire. About 43% of all US citizens live in a gun household and many people already brace themselves for troublesome times ahead. What do you guys think?

A (short) video on how to properly conduct microdosing with psychedelics such as LSD or Psilocybin (and perhaps other substances) to boost performance and/or improve everyday life regarding the process of actualization. I know there's a video on "How to Use Psychedelics for Personal Development" already, but sadly it doesn't include a single word about microdosing. Microdosing has benefits which a macro dose experience cannot deliver (functioning in everyday life), so I think it's an important and useful topic.

You think it will be that bad? Do you think Biden can steer against Trumps polarizing politics and (at least to some degree) unite the American people?
-
Yesss!! I'm so happy although I don't even live in the US lol? What are your predictions as to how Trump is going to try to obstruct the rest of the process? What is he gonna do after Biden has been inaugurated?
-
Because?
