  1. Also, leaders of Death Metal bands. Or have I got by Black confused with my Death again?
  2. And when will "we" stop being human? Obviously if having kids if part of your definition of "human" then humans will always have kids... Any way to measure how "conscious" people are?
  3. The problem with such questions is always: what is meant by "we"? Gotta be careful with correlations. It could also be that the fewer children people are, the more "conscious" they tend to be. In any case, having fewer children on average is a very different dynamic from having none at all.
  4. Humanity is a kind of fire. I was certainly not suggesting you should accept anything passively (why did you choose the ambiguous "accept"?). That quote was simply chiding for being careless with words.
  5. It looks like you're trying to sneak in a value judgement by abusing semantics. Be careful with words! "If one is a prisoner to joy, must one escape to sadness?"
  6. What's the point of consciousness is a good question but the premise is flawed: change is necessary, and can not be stopped. Why do people keep saying confusing stuff like "everything is perfect" anyway?
  7. What do you hope insults are going to achieve? I would suggest remedial reading comprehension classes if I didn't think you had an entirely different problem.
  8. Ban me if you've got a problem with facts.
  9. Getting rid of this virus is thankfully nowhere as difficult. Do inform yourself about how civilized people have solved problems. The trouble with pathogens against which people aren't vaccinated is that they keep importing them from less fortunate places. Masks and spacing do not stop this virus unfortunately. In some situations, masks and spacing lower its ability to spread enough that it drops under the epidemic threshold but you can't take that for granted. Likewise house parties needn't be prevented if you can stop enough people form moving around and gathering for other reasons. The problem is never going to be with a few specific things but with the big picture.
  10. Yes, you do. Calm down and be patient. You don't need meanings nor can they take away what has actual value.
  11. There is more to life than value judgements. If you quit babbling for a minute you'd see why healthy folks don't need morals to act like they're not sick. *facepalm*
  12. I have no oven and typically cook without oil... only I add oil afterwards. Olive (doesn't need to be EVOO), flax seed and rapeseed of course (the other healthy oils are too expensive).
  13. Let me know if I got this right: you think you need therapy but it's inaccessible. And your dream is to provide therapy to others... but then who would be able to a access the therapy that you might one day provide? People who don't need it? The small minority who are born into money but still have issues? If there really is no way to for you to access support, you must live in a dangerous place. Maybe you should be dreaming about moving then because someone who couldn't get help might end up hurting you or someone you love. But if you were able to find help with the problem you have right now, do you thing you might start dreaming about doing that instead of therapy and helping people who actually need it? If so, it would make sense to work extra hard at finding help. Maybe your dreams wouldn't involve more schooling then. Obviously I would encourage you stick to your current school as long as you're not falling apart, even if you started dreaming about something else. Getting the diploma can't hurt! Who cares if you're normal? Do you know how many people around you actually are normal underneath the facade? Do you even want to be normal when that means being lost in selfish dreams to such an extent that help is not provided to people who need it in order to become healthy and productive? I don't want to encourage you to spend more time alone reflecting about your situation but if you do find yourself going over your problems, maybe you could nudge yourself a bit in that direction. Surely there are other things you care about! Maybe you're taking it for granted and you need to pay more attention. Or maybe this "big deal" is taking up all your bandwidth so to speak and you should dial it down. I don't know what's going on in your mind but I do know not there's more to life. I'm really surprised men and material things are the only thing that deserved a mention. I get that if you want both children and a career, a husband without a career would come in handy. But as far as material things are concerned... of course we all need stuff but I live on less than half the poverty line and I lack for nothing. So if you live in a reasonably prosperous place, I don't think you need to worry about that (unless of course you wanted to raise children in a place so unhealthy that people without wealth can't get any help). That may be weird but it makes total sense. The world would be a better place if more people thought about that instead of having children in problematic circumstances.
  14. If you have to ask "Can I give up grains?" then the answer is "No!". You don't need to give up grains to eat fewer carbs. Certainly do not try to quit carbs unless you know what you're doing! Also, even looking only at macronutrients, the first thing you should know about grains is that they contain proteins (not quite the same ones legumes contain) so it's not like you could simply replace them with another calorie source even if quitting carbs was straightforward.
  15. That's infuriating isn't it?
  16. Right, like blaming rape victims for not being strong enough or whatever. That's about the victim and not the gender of the rapist.
  17. It would be easier to understand if you addressed what you said and not what you wish you had said.
  18. About missing the point, women will not somehow be spared by victim-blaming. On the contrary, women will of course be hurt more than men, exactly for the reason Leo tries to use as a defense.
  19. The surprisingly bad take (even for this admin) might have been hurtful to someone but was not doxxing, incitement or some such... kind of like the comment about Jews you found so fascinating the other day. Such comments help us learn how people perceive these issues and come to hold harmful views. They also help us gauge how common such views are. Why delete such comments or block the poster? Harmful views will not disappear from the world just because they're removed from a forum.
  20. That's how the progress of time works. That's what happens constantly all our life. You don't what people who have the correct connections to know that you have anything to hide from the authorities (unless of course your way of hiding things involves lawyers and banks). I agree: stop this.
