@Someone here I just have to say that without going deep into Christianity you can't possibly say Jesus was not God etc, do you really believe that people way smarter then you who have devoted their life to Christianity and investigating its claims still come out as Christians proclaiming Jesus is God incarnate? Jesus even changed history, a guy from a little place called Nazareth, in an pagan culture which killed other people for refusing their gods, or his own tradition of Judaism, they killed their own Messiah, do you even comprehend the journey Christianity did and became the actual practising religion in almost the whole West? You do have a arrogance about you when you speak about a topic you dont seem to have a handle on at all. You seem deeply confused about your own worldview but you think that you can easily debunk the philosophy and metaphysics of a 2000 year old religion which shaped Western Civilisation? Many have tried. The best example is the Apostle Paul, who absolutely hated Christians and helped arrest them so they ended up killed, and yet Jesus appeared to him and he ended up one of the most important figures in Christianity's history, converting greeks and what not. The claim is that Jesus rose again from the dead, the Apostles died HORRIBLE deaths for proclaiming Jesus rose from the dead, and before that they ran away when he got arrested and crucified and even denied being followers of him. Just check out the monks on mount Athos in greek, orthodox Christians who have significant spiritual writings aswell. There is Father - Son - Spirit in both Catholicism and Orthodoxy, there are not other gods which is worshiped, the difference being that you can venerate the saints and pray for them or ask them to pray for you, just as you can ask christians to pray for you or anyone you know who might be sick etc, thats out of respect for their profound life, but they are never worshiped, so I truly wonder where you get your sources from. -

@interim Well you have read shit modern thinkers in that case, to me and in orthodoxy there are an impressive amount of great thinkers. One has to distuingish between protestants and orthodox theologians, they are like night and day imo. Brahman has nothing to do with Christianity tho ? -

Not a core point in faith? Trinity is Christianity in a nutshell, and God incarnated in the form of Jesus, that is what Christianity is. God is one in essence but three persons, Jesus never becomes the Father and the Son never becomes the Spirit etc. And the saints is the ones who follow Christs teachings and trying to actually embody Him and his teachings which is the hardest path that you can walk, Jesus says that the world will hate you and you have to pick up the cross and follow him. He explicitly says go and preach to the nations in the name of the Father , Son and Holy Spirit. -
Adamq8 replied to Someone here's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
You can not limit the Christian God is what the trinity is saying, you can not say oh it is cosmic conciousness or a universal mind, nothing at all limits God. The Father is the sole arche but creates through the Son in the Holy Spirit. The Father is the ground cause, the Son is the operating cause and the Spirit is the perfecting cause. The Father is not begotten but the Son is the first born, but he was begotten before the world was made and thats why he is co eternal and God as well. Christianity is the only religion with this claim and do not have a similarity with Islam, atleast Eastern Orthodox. God is absolutely transcendent in his essence but we can participate in his eternal energies, which is Goodness, Love, Power etc. No one has ever seen the face of God and what God is is completely unknowable. There is one essence and three persons. Christianity has more profound mystical writings then any other religion ive ever encountered. The Living God has revealed himself through divine revelation and he has revealed that he is both multiplicity and oneness and also transcends categories. I do enjoy other religions, but Christianity is the Absolute transformation of paganism and hellenism, it has been christinized, to call Christianity a pagan religion is totally absurd and shows they have no clue what they are talking about. God is the wholly other, radically transcendent but yet totally present, and the Son has two natures, both divine and human, and the one does not destroy the other, thats why Eastern Orthodox's salvation is Theosis, we become gods in participating in God's uncreated energies. -

An infinite serie of backward causation is a deep paradox in philosophy which usually philosphers rather have a unmoved mover, because an infinite regress is impossible because contingent being is contingent being no matter if they are infinite, so there "has" to be a infinite causeless cause which has no beginning or end, and is an infinite actuality, which has no limits because it is the fullness of Being. This Being has been called God. Non dual abiding imo shows the infinite's Being which we are a part of, and simultanously the whole in a paradoxical manner. So an infinite time is possible because it would be the Eternal Now as this is. -
I really like this dude, clear pointers!

The Logos is the Son in almost all Christian metaphysics. Yes I would say that I am in a process of embodying the Christian way, picking up the cross and following Jesus. But I feel that most people have bad experiences with Christians, especially these evangelists and protestants, which I totally understand, some of them are really weird.. But Orthodoxy is not like that at all, it is the church Jesus and the apostles built. What this actually looks like in a practical way is : Prayer/meditation. Transcending passions , desires etc. Fasting. Giving to those who are less fortunate. And ofcourse attending the divine liturgy in church. Reading and meditating on the bible etc. And since I started this path, I have done more progress then ever before, you can really feel and live in Christ's presence and change your mind and heart, purifying the nous so one can see God more unbiased. But then again i still listen to Leo, I have profound respect for Leo, he is extremely wise imo. I have studied advaita vedanta, idealism and others, but found that orthodox christian is more fufilling and peace bringing then those others. -

I can elaborate, the Logos we call the second person of the Godhead, Logos is the power shaping creation. We can try to use some imagery, The Father is the end all be all, there is no one before or after, which eternally creates its own perfect image which is the Son, who the Father shares his power and life with. And also the Spirit which proceeds from the Father. The case is that the Father is absolutely infinite and completely unknowable in his essence, we can tho recognize and see God through his energies and activities. But the Father has infinite power and produces the Son, the first born, the Logos, the Divine Mind who is more logic/thinking/structure/order/laws So the father creates matter, the son shapes it, and the spirit perfects it so to speak, making it come alive. God is not some impersonal void of nirvana, he is the Living God which we can have a relationship with. Everything that has been made was made through the Son, because without him everything that was made was not made. The Godhead is non dual fundamentally, but also distinct, and the relationship between Father and the Son and Spirit is Love, Oneness and distinctness comes to together as a perfect Trinity in Unity thats why it can be both and still remain a Person. We could develop a deep relationship with God but at the same time let God be God and we keep being humans trying to bring that Love to others in this wonderful creation. Nothing is impossible for God. If you follow me now and keep an open mind i want to share where this Logos Theology is fufilled, it is in Jesus Christ, he is the Logos incarnated, taking on a human nature knowing full well how his own would recieve him, they would kill him, but then he would rise again. He says in the Gospel of John to the priests that, tear this tempel down and I will rebuild it in 3 days, they thought he talked about the physical tempel in Jerusalem which had been in progress for 46 years and still was not finished. He meant his body, Christ defeated Death in order so we could be liberated from the chains of death and impermanence, because you are free to cease to exist when you die if that is what you want, but if you want eternal life, he says we need to follow him, because he says he is "the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the father except through ME" Jesus is the Light which lightens every man that comes into the world. And this process, that God can take on human form and still be 100%8 God, he has two natures, and thanks to that we can also become God, not in essence but in activities and his energys, this is called theosis in Eastern Orthodox Christianity. We have ALOT of enlightened monks, priests, bishops which is living a life in stillness, hesychasm is the name for it. Philokalia, and The way of a pilgrim and Holy hesychia the Stillness that knows God is EXCELLENT books to read if you are interested in reaching theosis, and cultivating inner stillness and a emptying of one self so that God through grace fills it up with his presence. Sorry for this long and probably unrelated answer , I feel that, there is a treasure chest of deep spiritual life and experience in Orthodox. There is alot of Saints who we would consider enlightened and also did good works in the community and a few of them performed miracles where there is thousands of eye Witnesses, one of them is St Paisios the elder and St John Maximovitch just to name some modern fathers. -

I agree to some degree, but logic is always there whether we want to or not, 2+2=5 will never be true, but logic is one way that God is ordering creation because it is the Logos itself, it is an ordered Infinite Mind. Chaos can be there but since Logos is the Mind which holds ideas in its Mind there will always be consistency to reality in a way. Numbers, logic etc, exists within the mind of God. Academia do not have monopoly on logic or reason. But as you said, we have to transcend logic and reason and rely on higher faculties in order to meet God, logical thinking only gets one started but then we have to take the leap into to the infinite mystery of God. -

The parable of the lost sheep (Matthew 18: 10–14) Jesus tells the parable of the lost sheep to show that the Kingdom of God is accessible to all, even those who were sinners or strayed from God’s path. He uses the example of a shepherd (God) who has 100 sheep and one goes missing. The shepherd leaves the 99 others and searches high and low for the lost sheep. Jesus stresses that when the shepherd finds the lost sheep he rejoices over it more than the 99 who did not go astray. This is how God will rejoice when a sinner returns to Him. Kinda fitting ?? -
Kids hands down. It is an enormous responsebility

God is allowing evil for bringing the good out of it. He has not created some evil for the sake of boredom. Man is corrupted and needs to purify his nous in order to understand that evil is a privation of being, like an negative existence. A saint is never evil, look at the saints. You saying God loving evil is a cop out in order that you can avoid working on your own selfishness, it is exactly that which got us into trouble in the first place, we want to be God and we try to take His place and when we do that we sin and cause suffering on earth because we can't handle it. Jesus is the fufillment of the promises God had made to the people of Israel and also the world. Jesus purpose of incarnating is to destroy death and show who the Father is. There is something as morality or conscience which is imprented on your being, God is calling his people. Christ has died on the cross to lead us into immortality. He shows us the way to eternal life, but people will hate you for it in this world because it is fallen. It is your metaphysics and theology of an undiffirentiated unity which is a pure monism philosophy which we dont agree with at all. You live and have communion with the living Personal God and your Person does not annihilate itself but becomes Divine and participates in God's energies. A proton is not selfish, a proton is an unconcious force set in motion to do its work according to the plan of the Logos. We humans are supposed to be kings, but we act like losers. -
Adamq8 replied to Thought Art's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
God did not create evil, he created humans with free will who wanted to be God themselves and seperated themselves from life with God and thats why humanity is corrupted, AkA the Fall. If you study Jesus you will clearly see that this man incarnated for your salvation, for your deification. " I am the way, the truth, the life, no one comes to the father except through me" Takes those words seriously and you will see profound changes in your life. I suggest the Jesus prayer which you can pray constantly and it will produce profound states as well. " Lord Jesus christ, son of God, have mercy on me" This is a prayer to be repeated, pray without ceasing. Then the praying and words will ultimately dissapear but you are lifted up to the presence of God. Christianity has both dual/non dual in its theology, it is a trinity which transcends both duality and non duality. -

Don't blame God for your issues. Take responsebility for your own actions and have faith that a supreme intelligence will guide you and be with you, life is not supposed to be easy, it comes with hard trials but it is a growing into wisdom.
