The fact that brain fixates on the things it wants to see is real, especially if you're repeatedly, or should say excessively exposed to certain subject - it starts to make things up. I remember how i was at a shop once and when i first time read the words i read something else entirely and for a split second i vividly saw different word, then it dissolved into the acutal word that was written there. This is what fixating on certain subjects does to your brain its almost hallucinogen inducing drug atp.
