How can we ever think that we know some type of truth, when not to long ago we used to believe that there was a giant turtle holding up the earth. I feel like I can’t have an opinion about anything because right now we are learning so much. Right now our evolutionary process is going 200 miles per hour. We learn something today and tomorrow we go deeper. The next day we go even deeper and so on. How can I have opinions? I have zero opinions. Or not. My opinion is that we can’t have opinions. We are an uncivilized society that knows NOTHING. I’ve been reading about aliens and they don’t think they are superior but just that they’re more evolved. But they feel sorry for us because they see us as vulnerable, unprotected beings that keep shooting themselves in the foot. I just know that I’m not turquoise or coral. I can even see the red shadows still in me and I understand why I still need them and where they’re coming from, I don’t even think that without my red side I would be alive right now. I also understand blue. I deeply understand the Conservative party because this world is fucking scary and they just want consistency, they want an stable society. They’re so fucking scare. Change is scary. They see everything that is going on as the end of times because it literally feels to them like everything they know to be true is collapsing, is fucking painful. For them green people are just idiots, irresponsible neo-hippies, that know nothing about the importance of protecting the structures of society. And green sees all the pain in the world and suffers. There is a green shift right now but these aren’t happy times for green. it is painful for green, they see the injustices, the corruption, they feel the backlash... so they go to protests during the day and then they cry themselves to sleep at night. And still, from a tear 1 perspective how can we even start to believe that we know something. That we know “the truth”. I’m willing to bet that no one who inhabits this earth knows “the truth”. Or maybe less than 0.001% percent. So, if you and me are not part of that 0.001 percent, let me tell you that whatever we think we know is a lie or is less than 0.001% true. And after saying all of this. Let me tell you that I’m probably very wrong, lol.

@Leo Gura But that happens at the end of the year. You would pay taxes every week regardless. Even if you get a $125 check every week you would get taxes deducted. At the end of the year you might get something back if you didn’t make enough, but you have to wait a whole year for it. And that’s a factual truth! I keep trying to make a comprehensive argument about where the libertarians and white supremacist Ideas come from, which was the point of Vaush video, but you keep fixating on minor details
-
Unfortunately there are no allowances for low income in the US. What we have is credits like child credits. That’s why the caller mentioned that, and Vaush said “childless life matters” lol... That’s why low and middle income people get this ideas about lower taxes, but it is not just because they want to be “libertarian” or “don’t have responsibility to society”, but it’s because at some level they know that they have been left to carry the weight of society on their own, and since they’ve been brainwashed to support capitalism blindly, they don’t say “make corporations pay more taxes” but instead they say “I don’t want to pay any taxes just like them”.
-
Because personal income tax is the highest tax. Billion dollar corporations can manage to pay very low or even zero in taxes. Just ask Facebook and Amazon. Amazon alone exploits the USPS, I don’t understand how they’re able to exploit a public company like that and with a straight face don’t pay any taxes at the end of the year.
-
@Leo Gura ok, I misspoke. For someone earning $300 It is around 23% which will be around $70. I still think that someone earning such a low wage should not pay that much.... $70 for someone that earns $300 is a crazy amount of money. $30 to $50 would be more than enough. (This is in NYC where federal and state taxes are taken every week) Someone that benefits from this system are corporations and investors, basically anyone that knows how the system works and can claim everything as a loss or investment and ends up paying zero in taxes, while the average Joe keeps picking up the slack and the need for more low wage workers increases. It is a fact that low wage illegal immigrants are currently keeping social security, medicaid and Medicare alive. https://www.vox.com/2018/4/13/17229018/undocumented-immigrants-pay-taxes Higher taxes for higher income, lower taxes for lower income is the key. The problem is that our society sees taxes as punishment, like the higher taxes on cigarettes and alcohol and now the new vaping tax. Maybe paying higher taxes the more money you earn can be seen as punishment by some.
-
Someone earning $300 a week should not pay $100 in taxes imo. 50 ok $100 no. They pay $100 every week on a $300 salary while Amazon pays zero. Also, All this problems are the result of mismanaged capitalism. Since white people are the majority in this country, politicians hide their corruption behind their favorite scape goat which is black and brown people. They know they only need the votes of whites, thanks to systems like voter suppression in place. The biggest problem with this strategy is the scalation of white supremacy sentiments. If I tell a population made up generalizations like Blacks are criminals, Mexicans are rapists, Muslims are terrorists, the result is white people thinking that they’re inheritedly better, and the vulnerable victims of all those crazy maniacs.... Unless, they get the messiah, the ultimate White Alpha Male, aka Trump.
-
That caller is a product of his environment. He has been lied to his whole life. He has been told that black people deserve what they have, because of their “culture” and he even said “genes”. The argument is that black people are “defective, subpar humans”. There is zero understanding of the history of past social projects. Also, Blacks have been an scapegoat for capitalism. He’s right about paying to much taxes, but that’s not Black and poor people’s fault. That’s capitalism’s fault. But politicians have been lying to their faces, telling them is the “welfare state”. No, It is not. It is lobbyists, politicians that take their money, and capitalism in general’s fault. Now, for them the best defense is a good offense. Doubling down. Can you imagine how hard can it be to realized that your family, your school and the government lied to you your whole life? I blame education. Because I must confess that I didn’t think critically about any of this topics until I started educating myself. Kids go to school to learn whitewashed history and economics, emphasis on the “white”.

The government should contact aliens ASAP and ask for technological help in regards to climate change. Specifically with fires and hurricanes. Supposedly, there is already an alien base protecting the gulf of Mexico from hurricanes. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jul/17/mexico-hurricanes-alien-base-gulf-coast -
@creator20 yeah no hahaha don't do it. But that means that you're surrounded by 19 year olds as well, they are like that, my son is 11 and he would say things like that, i try to correct him but i can also see how this is part of his development and trying to fit himself into this big world. So yeah, I think their comments have nothing to do with you but more with how they're trying to fit themselves in society. You are just 19 are you're so insightful and eloquent already, imagine yourself in 10 years?? You can do anything, don't let anyone stop you.

agree. Also date older men. 35+ sometimes those micro aggressions are signs of immaturity.
-
this has happened to me as well, i've had a couple men come to my apartment and randomly start commenting about things, like my water filter for example, why do i have it there instead of over there?, just the most random stuff, i always get the sense that they feel like I need their guidance or something, it turns me off. I drive in nyc, very 50/50 between men and women. I once got a ticket and went to pay it at the dmv. 95% of the people paying were men... I'm very good at parallel parking, and a female friend of mine told me: "my husband says you should not brake the car so much while backing up or you wont be able to park..." I finished parking without any issue and I told her to "stop listening to your husband, he just wants you to think that you're not good at driving, it's not true, you drive better than him" Yes. And they're full of micro and macro aggressions. They do the same with other man, lots of trash talk... ignore them, avoid them, keep doing you.

Is not the physical strength, is the history of using it to hurt and abuse others that causes that dynamic. And we can’t say that abuse happens because women don’t have the physical strength to defend themselves, because that would be us blaming women for the acts of men.
-
My answer to the op is that no, men are not superior to women. Maybe at some point in our history physical strength was important but not anymore. And males that identify themselves with that outdated ideal would become insecure and say things like “men are superior”. in our current society what matters are all other types of strength such as mental and spiritual. And both men and women have the capacity to develop them as much as they want.
-
It wasn’t me who mentioned the 200 hundred pound man. I’m just saying that many men like to think of themselves as a strong 200 pound 6 Feet tall men, when in reality very few men are like that. For me personally I get crushes on very funny, smart man. That idea of the 200 pound “physically strong” ideal male is outdated. No one needs that anymore in our current society. Now, a mentally, spiritually strong man with a sense of humor, that has lots of a value.
-
Do all men weight 200 pounds? Or is it that they like to identify themselves with the mystical 200 pounds 6+ feet tall hero of the movie 300? Also, in this prehistoric “fighting” don’t they fight only the men? They want to rape and keep the women and keep the land. Now the women are with stronger man reproducing stronger offsprings, the only ones dying are the weak men.
-
@datamonster how are we measuring strength? Are we talking physical, mental, spiritual or pain threshold strength? And which one is more important? Is just physical strength what has kept us alive for thousands of years? My point is that at *some point in history* someone who wrote a history book decided that when societies in immediate danger would say “women and children first” they were saying this because men were “stronger and superior, able to stand more pain”, when it was about survival ONLY. If I want my bloodline to survive, who am I going to save first? I need all the women, all the children, and if I get one man that’s plenty. You see it’s not about whose stronger. And yes, that’s just a romantic story about men as heroes. In reality it was all about survival.
-
I’ve never understood this argument. It seems to me like some type of romantic telling written by a weak male ego. Because staying at the village all day while keeping kids alive in a hostile and wild environment like the village, don’t seem to me like an easy task. The women would have to manage their survival plus the survival of the future generation while the men would be gone for days at a time, or maybe forever, that’s why there was usually one men for several woman because men will keep dying. So isn’t the one who survives the stronger one? And thinking about, the arrangement that men would go out and risk their lives sounds like it was because males were more expendable. Survival was harder at that time, and a woman needs almost one year to develop a new human, while you only need one man to impregnate several women.

Hahaha... Masterful!

This is the sweetest thing that anyone has EVER say to me. And our technology is not even dial up, it is hitting a tree with a stick to communicate with noise.

Am I having an existential crisis?

Move out as soon as you can. is not your fault that she acts like that. She sounds like she has some type of compulsive disorder, with the constant cleaning, etc. That same repetitiveness happens in her mind. It’s like a loop that she’s trapped on. Every time that she curses you, it could be because she has like and image or a perception going on a loop in her mind. Maybe talk to your father and tell him how you feel. But because she’s your mother and you love her deeply whatever she does to you is going to affect you deeply as well, so your best choice is to move out right away.

Who cares what Leo thinks really, (no offense Leo). He’s not the president of the United States. He’s not feeding the culture wars at massive scales. He doesn’t have the power to denied climate change at a world scale with devastating consequences like what is happening in California and Oregon right now. Leo can’t stop funding to those states and NY like Trump is doing right now. saying that “NY is dead” because he knows he can never ever come back when NY used to be his play ground. All childish games, like a kid that says “I don’t even want it” when denied of something. This whataboutism is insane. -

I wish I can be numb to him. I just read this article how on election night he will appear to win, but after all the mail in ballots are counted he will actually lose, therefore he’s going to call that a fraud since he’s building momentum on how the mail in ballots are fraudulent. He’s not going to leave the White House, he’s going to tell his supporters to riot, and all that freaks out. After I cast my vote on Election Day I will just sleep for 3 days. https://www.axios.com/bloomberg-group-trump-election-night-scenarios-a554e8f5-9702-437e-ae75-d2be478d42bb.html -
