  1. Maybe God doesn't mind suffering a little, as it accounts for atleast half of the experiences possible.
  2. Congrats for overcoming your negative thoughts! Not easy at all. To add a thing about engineering, millions of people of in my state go into engineering and most have no idea of what it is or no interest at all before joining it. But most of them do good in their life and switch to their passion after earning enough money or develop interest in engineering itself despite initially not having it after some experience.
  3. Thanks to you, I got another show added to my watchlist

  5. Even poop could turn out to be a valuable resource for them, who knows?
  6. I think this guy is one: I think many are.
  7. There are many different ways to experience life right now, although the way you mentioned is also one of the ways to experience it. As long as your mind adjusts to the good and bad experiences, there is no unlimited suffering in offer. Humans with complex emotions came here just a million years ago, whereas the universe is here for more than 10 billion years. The humans right now are the new born babies who cry for a few days after they are born. No doctor tells that crying is bad for your new born baby. Just remember that nothing is permanent.
  8. Ha ha! But I think there's a way to hide the hole. It's hidden somewhere in the Android settings, I believe. You would lose a bit screen space though.
  9. @Adrian colby , thank you for the detailed and open minded reply. You have saved a lot of time for me as my reply was supposed to be in similar lines. Here are some more similar points to ponder: 1. Open mindedness alone cannot create a better society, but it's an important factor in the advancement of the same. It has to be combined with compassion, love or other characters of selflessness. For example, imagine you are a judge in a court of law. When we are dealing with a rapist, pedophile, murderer etc. , we can punish them for the welfare of the society and at the same time, be open minded and compassionate towards them for not being in control of their desires, circumstances, upbringing etc. This can even lead to better alternative punishments for the same. 2. Homosexuality doesn't hurt the society in a major way, whereas things like pedophilia and cannibalism do hurt others in extreme magnitudes. That's why lines are drawn based on the magnitudes of suffering they bring. Nobody exactly knows how much suffering each act brings. That's an important reason why every country has their unique set of laws, while open mindedness and compassion also do play a role. 3. Even if accepting homosexuality brings lot of mental suffering to the closed minded societies, we can't argue much about it, because sex is accepted as a basic need for human beings in most societies. Prohibiting homosexuality would be similar to not allowing anyone to practice your own religion, simply because you hate any religion other than the one you follow or worried about people getting converted to the new religion. To be fair, it's much worse than that.
  10. You don't have to be so hard on yourself, especially when you have fewer alternatives. Even moving your hand to the left instead of right could kill a bunch of people.
  11. I would say an intention or curiosity or desire to know who I am or who God is will push us towards a direction that helps us to know about the truth. The tools may be different, what is necessary is to be in flow with our being. One way or the other, it will lead towards the truth, but going against the flow and ignoring the tools coming towards us may push us away.
  12. Here's a positive documentary about food in India with some flavours of spirituality.
  13. Life is not always hard, in my opinion. It's extremely hard when we first encounter obstacles, then our mind gets used to the obstacles, and we feel less stressed. Even the obstacles are not permanent, we overcome it someday, in one way or another. It's extremely important to realise the impermanent nature of life or the state of our mind, and not take extreme steps when we are in the hard phase of our life. The struggles will continue till we understand what is actually better for us and what is not. The outside world sometimes helps to understand our limits as well as discouraging our innovative or radical ideas. It is important that we have a sense of what is good and what is bad within our mind. Until then, it's not good to ignore cues from the outside world entirely and self doubt serves the purpose of creating a feasible plan for our future as well as our ambitions. There are certain things which seem always right to do, and encouraged by Spirituality, such as being kind, compassionate, grateful and selfless, open minded etc. Practicing these characters do not require any approval from the outside world as they always seem to be the right thing to do, and always seem to reward us, in one way or another.
  14. This is really an interesting way to spend time in YouTube. I was doing a similar kind of thing earlier. But, instead of watching documentaries, I used to choose a random country and look at different vlogs created by random tourists of locals for that country. That provided a good virtual traveling experience. I think watching documentaries would provide an in-depth look into the cultures of the vast wide world that we haven't explored even one percent. If you have trouble choosing the countries, here is a random country generator: https://pickerwheel.com/tools/random-country-generator/ I would personally prefer a visit to a different continent each week to add diversification to our views.
  15. I wouldn't say too much, but, yes, degradation of women and lower castes is definitely a problem here.
  16. You can pursue experiences. It doesn't necessarily mean anything new or exotic. It's just everyday experiences with being more mindful towards them, combined with a passion to look forward for new experiences.
  17. Mostly it's true that everything becomes better and not new with the high end models, but here are some features that your particular model offers new: 1. Water resistance 2. Face id scanner 3.5g network compatibility 4. Latest android system, meaning more features ( but barely noticeable) My personal opinion is that, if you don't need these features, and not a heavy phone user, you don't need a flagship phone. I am a heavy smartphone user, I have hundreds of apps installed in my phone and my phone costs something around 250$ bought before 2 years. I have faced no lags ( except when storage space gets full) and even gaming and multi tasking is good. ( Provided I don't switch between more than 3 apps at a time). I would suggest you to buy a new phone every 3 years simply for the security updates, but not specifically a flagship phone. If you don't need any lags in performance, you should look for: 1. A good processor 2. 8 gb ram or more 3. Atleast 128 gb storage space 4.5g compatibility I think you could get all these for around 300-400 dollars or even lesser.
  18. It's true that Street food vendors and many hotels have unhygienic practices, but you can survive easily if you use Google reviews to check the restaurant quality. Restaurants that are too cheap usually don't have hygienic practices. Also, eating spicy foods may aggravate the stomach. High quality hotels mostly don't use heavy spices Another way to survive is to cook the food yourselves by buying the ingredients at super market or eat food at Western outlets like McDonald's.
  19. Yes, otherwise atleast half of the population would have been dead. Congratulations for being resilient everyone!
  20. There are free and powerful photo and video editing and drawing apps rivaling pc softwares. You can use those without any lags. Faster processor improves gaming and browsing lags, especially if the websites are content heavy. Faster startup times. Good quality screen means better viewing experience for movies, videos and general usage. Banking apps require good security. Latest models provide that since OS is updated often. With large ram, you can use multiple apps at the same time without them getting restarted every time you switch. Aiso applicable to multiple browser windows in Chrome or others. You don't need more than 8gb mostly though.
  21. That bias is the reason why. If you ignore them, it's not an issue. But if you give them less respect, you are forgetting that they are humans too.
  22. You don't have to respect the attractive girls more simply because they are beautiful and sexy. In the same way, you don't have to respect them less simply because they are getting unfair advantage. Instead, you can give more respect to those whom you think are not sexy and beautiful. Even if they behave rude, be compassionate with those sexy girls for they may not responsible for their biases as much they are not responsible for their body.
  23. Being lazy is not a problem at all. Being lazy and not contend with the way of life and our laziness is the problem.
  24. The existence of senses beyond our logic and perceptions is a possibility, especially when we are speaking about an universe that doesn't follow our laws. But even within our universe, we haven't discovered everything, but we have made a good list of possible senses that we necessarily don't possess within our discoveries. These include sensing magnetism, heat, fear, danger, etc. But when we discover new possibilities, like the first time we discovered electricity, there will be more senses opened that our logical mind can understand.
