  1. I can describe a sunset, will it make you enjoy it any less ?
  2. Maybe develop clear idea's about how human relationships should work, and then enforce them in your life. In a non-violent way
  3. Does that feeling thing work? Wasn't Nahm banned for a reason? Don't you lose sight of reality? It's a gamble for sure. I'm for practicing stillness of mind. I catch myself thinking, I'll ask if it's necessary. Awareness of breath is helpful sometimes.
  4. I'm all about exploring all dimensions of life, but I just don't see the need for suffering in any of them..
  5. I'm saying you can be happy permanently Not that I have attained this, I'm just saying
  6. I'm going to push you a little because I like to Many folks don't believe there can be an end to suffering, but I like to think they're wrong. Gary Weber is a living example, he describes his state as one of being free of suffering. One article; https://psychologytomorrowmagazine.com/jeff-warren-neuroscience-suffering-end/ Possibly Nisargadatta had a similar experience: from "I am that" describing his state: Everything that exists, exists as my self. There is nothing which is different from me. There is no duality and, therefore, no pain. There are no problems. It is the sphere of love, in which everything is perfect. What happens, happens spontaneously, without intentions -- like digestion, or the growth of the hair. Realise this, and be free from the limitations of the mind. I like Ajahn Chah's approach: "it's only when we make liberation from suffering our ultimate goal that we're on the right path: nothing less. Suffering has a cause and conditions for its existence." https://www.ajahnchah.org/book/Unshakeable_Peace1_2.php
  7. As I understand it there's a way to end it for good, no more suffering. While living
  8. This life is suffering business, I've heard it's not really what Gautama Buddha said. It's more like an observation "there is suffering". And then the good news, there's a way to overcome it. Then you're happy.
  9. As long as you don't start talking to me like I'm imaginary, we're good I suppose you can't assume that my suffering isn't real
  10. I think this is too simple. Mindset matters a lot. If in my core I don't believe I can improve, I won't improve.
  11. What's the point of enjoying? But you want your crush to like you and be in a relationship with you. Why aren't you meeting someone like this?
  12. No image is true... As long as you distinguish between fantasy and reality (meeting the other person as they are, not as what you imagine them to be) you're OK. What awful world are you talking about
  13. Right, it's the neediness that hurts. I like you therefore you should like me.
  14. Hi I was wondering, does 5-MeO-DMT feel better than enlightenment? My enlightenment experience (past) was 10/10 happiness, but I'm wondering if 5-MeO-DMT can be even better.
  15. I enjoy fantasizing about my crush, I don't see the problem What doesn't work out? Personally I enjoy the intensity of the crush.
  16. awesome, I was just thinking how you can be enlightened and ignorant at the same time, dual-consciousness stuff
  17. I think it differs, some people report having no experience of identity and some experience their identity as having expanded to a Self. I don't care much about my sense of being a self, so if it's up to me I'd press delete
  18. I'll add we can pick up thoughts from our environment, so the evidence of kids "remembering" past life stuff isn't immediately convincing to me. Who says adults don't transfer some unconscious stories to the kids?
  19. I think that's just a limiting belief that goes something like "you can't be healthy and get laid a lot"
  20. To be free of thoughts + a sense of happiness. „The talk is in your world. In mine – there is eternal silence. My silence sings, my emptiness is full. I lack nothing. You cannot know my world until you are there.“ Source: https://quotepark.com/quotes/1777151-nisargadatta-maharaj-the-talk-is-in-your-world-in-mine-there-is-eter/
  21. I think it's 67% positive and 33% negative. But maybe I just meet a lot of happy people
  22. Hi all, I was wondering about the current state of affairs concerning meditation research. In particular I'm wondering whether there is any about the long-term effects on the brain when meditators aren't meditating. Moreover I'm wondering whether it has a positive effect on studying. Does it make you better at it? Should you do it before studying? I've researched it myself but didn't find much that was substantial. Quite possibly I'm overlooking things. I'll take your personal experiences with it also Thanks in advance.
