I most theists insist that belief in God must be based on faith, defined as “ belief not requiring evidence”. This is the direct opposite of science, which insists on evidence to test hypotheses. But there are scientific proof of God :: The Big Bang, the formation of stars, galaxies and planets, the origins of life, the evolution of species ..including humans. This whole miracle that we call existence..isn't enough proof of God? In fact it is God appearing as existence. -

@OnePointTwo @r0ckyreed i will try to simplify the issue for you... We exist and we are contingent beings. We are part of a series of contingent beings. Then we come to the first being. Is that being contingent or necessary? If someone or something created the first being, then it is not the first being. By simple analysis, the first being must be a necessary and non-contingent being. And in order to have an answer to the infinite regress question, there has to be a bottom line, “the buck stops here” answer . that God exists necessarily and was never created. -

I say it cannot be explained because the Universe is infinite .so it had no beginning point. And of course no ending point. Agreed. They struggle with what is purely imaginary physics to claim the birth of the Universe via the physically impossible occurrence of the Big Bang. The Universe did not..could not .. come from anywhere or anything. It is reality. It has always existed as it is and cannot be altered in any way whatever. So, no-one can explain its origin because it doesn’t have one. -

I know what entropy is . Its the principle that in any closed system..the particles trend to move to the most chaotic state . How is that connected to my question? -

Not sure I follow..what exactly that can not be explained? So it's the best explanation that materialists can come up with ...but you disagree with it as it doesn't actually explain anything, right ? -

And I already addressed this point . The Big Bang itself demands explanation. If you say the explanation for the existence of the universe is the big bang ..then what explains the big bang itself? And whatever that might be demands explanation and so on to infinity. Who or what created the big bang? The Big Bang is a result of the Universe coming into existence. That Theory doesn't describe how the Universe came into existence. It describes the process of inflation (expansion) after the Universe came into being. The Big Bang starts a fraction of a second after Time 0. So the question again ...what caused the big bang ?and really what is the ultimate cause of all of reality? -

@Nilsi you are not making your point clear. your replies are "incomplete"in a sense. -

Yeah I can relate. I remember lying awake in bed as a child, eyes wide open, while the darkness seeped into my room. From my window I saw stars dancing, and I wondered, “Is there a God?” That thought opened the door to a number of other questions. If he is there, how long has he been there? Who made him? And what is he thinking? If he existed forever, does this mean I will exist forever? Now that was a very uncomfortable idea for my young mind to ponder. Life without end was too big a thought for me to handle. So I turned my attention to less stressful matters.like how to impress girls in high school and other such nonsense ? My parents were open but cautious about God’s existence. They certainly weren’t atheists, but neither did they accept the notion of a personal God. Mine was a home that embraced the supernatural in general, but had no patience for a God who meddled in the morality of mere men. -

That's from the absolute perspective. I'm asking more from the relative perspective. Why some people deny the existence of god which should be obvious if we look at this miraculous existence? I If you ask most theists, the reason is because gods are mysterious, unknowable, “ineffable” beings that exist outside of time and space and therefore cannot be detected in any way whatsoever (despite the fact that these same theists seem to know an awful lot about what these gods are like, what they have said and done and promised to do, what they want us to do, etc.) That doesn’t mean those people are sinners to not hold a god belief, but that is a separate discussion as it does not cover my question. -

How ?they both were Christians/believers in God. Actually Descartes himself in his book the meditations, provided his evidence for God, after cleaning the slate with radical skepticism .he said he cannot trust his senses .like the faculty that produces dreams. That is, of those ideas that are adventitious, it might be that we produce them even if we do not do so willingly, as it happens when we are dreaming. But then he said what gives validity to our perceptions is God who cannot be deceiving us because in his model God wasn't a trickster .but an infinitely Good entity . -

It CAN be explained. Like I said I'm not denying the big bang. I'm denying the idea that the big bang is the ultimate origin of the universe. Meaning there was nothing prior to the big bang and the big bang just happened for no reason. My mind can't comprehend such possibility. Are you an atheist? What would you accept as proof for the existence of God ? This is not quibbling, honestly, what I'm looking to get from this question and answer is as important as how you answer it. Is ‘proof’ some scientific form of empirical experiment which puts God in a lab under a microscope? That would be a self-defeating premise and a self-contradictory expectation, which I’m sure you can see: if you could examine God in that manner he couldn’t be much of a God by definition of what a god is. So there is no scientific proof for the existence of god .not because God doesn't existence. But because God cannot be tested by the scientific method .God is infinite. And science is finite. How could the finite comprehend the infinite? -

I'm not denying the big bang . Sure its a well accepted theory in the scientific community that explains the origin of the universe. But you can't just STOP suddenly at the big bang and that's it. You have to explain where did the big bang come from . And if you posit another cause that is prior to the big bang ..then you have to explain where did that cause came from as well ..and no matter how many initial causes you posit..you have to explain them ad infinitum. So you have to accept that the cause of the universe is infinity .and infinity is just another word for God. -

Where did the big bang come from ? You have three choices: 1-either it came out of nowhere for no reason at all. 2- coincidence. 3- some cause have caused it . Now ,do you understand why option 1, and 2 don't make sense ?and the only explanation left is explanation 3? -
My big brother is a very toxic person .and our relationship with each other is completely neurotic and fucked up . he rarely ever truly take responsibility for his negative actions (rarely apologize, almost always see himself the victim and everything/everyone else as the villains, blames others when something bad happens, etc.). he very quickly resort to anger, aggression, and violence (even at extreme levels) when something bad happens or he don't get what they want. he doesn't really do anything for anyone else..he mostly only care about themselves. He hates having responsibilities (being financially responsible, cooking and cleaning, handling adult responsibilities on his own, etc.). he is naturally drawn to drama and start drama themselves. He is not charitable..most acts of service he does to eventually get what he want from the person he helps. he have a toxic pessimistic mindset. Whenever im are around him or hang out with him, i find my energy levels quickly drop. i find myself having to "walk on eggshells" around him to make sure that nothing gets himin a bad mood .I must always be perfect, but he doesn’t have to be at all 10.he keeps complaining about how bad things are for him while ignoring all the things he is doing that are causing those bad things to happen . He is blatantly hypocritical (ex. I hate when people yell at me and bully me, but I'll immediately start yelling at you and bully you if we ever get in an argument). Now I can't just cut him out of my life ..he Is my big brother ..I live with him and I'm somewhat financially dependent on him ..but at the same time I can't stand it anymore..I'm sick of having to fight with him every single funking day over the most trivial shit possible. Any advice?

If you keep going with this line of reasoning you will face the problem of infinite regress. You have to accept infinity as the only source of reality .either it's Gods all the way down .or one God that is eternal and uncaused. Notice that you have no other option to explain existence. The ‘infinite regress’ argument posits that we cannot have an infinite amount of preceding events or causes. For if we have an infinite amount of preceding events then we can never get to where we are now, that there must ultimately be a ‘first cause’ or ‘prime mover’. An example that has been used to explain the problem is that of the soldier waiting for orders to fire. imagine a soldier waiting for orders from other soldier before to fire at the enemy. The soldier at the front asks the soldier behind if they have permission to fire. That soldier then asks the soldier behind them, then that soldier repeats the same process. Eventually we must come to a soldier that gives permission to fire, otherwise the soldier at the front of line would never be able to fire. There must be a soldier who is the ‘first cause’, the one that gives permission to fire -

Same thing with me . Where else could I discuss these issues of God, Free Will ,Solipsism, infinity etc in real life ? Most people if you talk to them about these subjects they will call you crazy or at least a weirdo . I use this forum as an outlet to my creative and Philosophical thoughts . I started a few Journals but I wasn't satisfied with them .it didn't feel right to me knowing that thousands of people will read my crap And BTW ..perhaps If you use a picture of yourself as a profile picture, that will help you gain more popularity here.just for people to get to connect with you on a deeper level .just a thought. -

@Breakingthewall bro you have some serious talent playing with words in a poetic way. imo ,you are one of the most underrated members here . -
OK this is serious shit ..I can't keep it up with smoking insane amounts of cigarettes everyday. This is suicidal. If I keep it up I'm probably on my way to have a heart attack ,a stroke,or lungs or throat cancer . I need accountability partner. Someone who could DAILY check in with me to ensure that I didn't smoke this day . I hope I conveyed the depth of the problem I'm facing in my other thread .. So if anyone is capable..please PM me and I will so much appreciate it . Thanks

Still contains nicotine (which is the substance I'm addicted to ). As bad and unhealthy as tobacco. If not even worse . Same with weed .let alone the fact that I don't have access to these in my country. They are banned/illegal. Nor sure what are these .gotta Google them lol.

Imo ,Anxiety is basically hightened stress response. People who have anxiety react to triggers that most would not. It could be something as small as getting a call, going outside or getting ready for an event. The question that follows is why some people react so strongly to triggers that are not objectively stressful. This comes from a low self-esteem.. people who are constantly doubtful of themselves, their choices and decisions. Such people are those who have become too identified with their thoughts .thoughts which are often self-loathing and reproachful. They have to deal with inner voices that often say things like, “you aren't enough”, “your future looks bleak”, “you are ugly”, “you should just give up”, “you cannot do this”. The problem is they do not realise that these self-loathing voices are not their own. They become too identified with these. Left untreated, these voices take over the subconscious as well in which case anxiety gets worse. -
Yes it happens .when you spend a long time without exercising ,you build some sort of tolerance or resistance to it. Which makes it more difficult at first. But as you get used to it ..you start getting your stamina back . OK. But I can't think of any healthy alternatives..my mind is wandering between jerking off to porn ..or fast food and tons of sugary food ..to playing video games endlessly. To spend too much time on this fucking forum mentally masturbating about all kinds of stuff .. Can you suggest an activity to me ?(don't mention exercising ,I don't have the energy to do it .smoking actually zaps you of energy and motivation ).

@Carl-Richard I think I need a more healthy approach to quit. The why /reason has to be strong enough that it outweighs the desire to smoke . i should start going for runs/ exercising. Really shows how bad of shape my lungs are. because I went for a run one day and nearly died not even 5 minutes in lol.
-
@Carl-Richard ok .fair enough .I appreciate you trying to help. I know you come from good intentions.

@Carl-Richard Is it not likely i will overdose on nicotine just from smoking cigarettes. The body absorbs only about one-tenth of the nicotine in a cigarette, around 1 milligram, when you smoke it. Overdosing from regular cigarettes is rare, but it's possible .but Its gonna require me smoking suicidal amounts . I don't know .something about this whole thing doesn't feel right . No fucking way. Keep dreaming Don't worry. Its ok .I'm a skeptical motherfucker. I don't do stuff like this before researching it enough.
