  1. Trump pardoning Jan 6 rapists, domestic abusers, violent criminals: https://www.npr.org/2025/01/30/nx-s1-5276336/donald-trump-jan-6-rape-assault-pardons-rioters Interesting because it serves as an honest signal of the level of cognitive development of a person who would participate in something like Jan6. These people are Stage Red goons.
  2. As a person who leans extroverted, I think we’re being way too sensitive on the socialization topic to be honest. I took the post as simply highlighting an aspect of getting older and wiser. No one ever said socialization was bad, but it something you go through and grow out of as you age (assuming you actually grow up-some people stay stupid well into their 50s/60s). Even everyday people who are not monks or yogis have had the experience of socializing less and having less surface level friendships later in life-it’s natural to a degree. If amount socialization was the hallmark measure of wisdom, it would be the opposite.
  3. Seems to have panned out well for him given his position as Secretary-amazing how in our system nowadays, you can grift your way into the highest positions in governance (Trump included). I’m sure the more power and sex he gets, the more he believes his own lies. I can’t imagine what he’ll do discredit reliable sources of data and expertise on vaccines and other things.
  4. Claude AI: Regarding vaccines and health: - He has repeatedly claimed vaccines are linked to autism, despite this being thoroughly debunked by numerous large-scale scientific studies - He suggested certain ingredients in vaccines are harmful toxins, misrepresenting their actual roles and safety profiles - He has promoted unfounded theories about vaccine schedules overwhelming children's immune systems Regarding COVID-19: - He claimed COVID-19 was ethnically targeted to spare Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese people, a statement he later walked back after widespread criticism - He spread misinformation about COVID-19 death rates and disputed established scientific consensus about transmission and prevention measures - He promoted unproven treatments while questioning the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines Regarding environmental issues: - He has made inaccurate claims about 5G networks and their supposed health effects - He has promoted debunked theories about certain chemicals in water supplies Regarding historical events: - He has promoted various conspiracy theories about the assassination of his uncle President John F. Kennedy that conflict with established historical evidence.
  5. @Leo Gura I like how you tied solitude to financial independence. I’ve had the same insights about socialization, but also recognized the limits of having to maintain a job to feed myself (I am a project manager in tech). I’m also dependent on some relationships for emotional support and well being. I try to make sure I have at least a two or three days a week free of social commitments. It does get easier as I get older, and I enjoy it more. I also have friends and family in my life that I love dearly, and make time for them because I enjoy connecting. Balance is key for me.
  6. Makes sense-as we see today the ungodly amount of corporate lobby in government. The more tax breaks and deregulations these companies get-the larger they get, thus putting themselves in position to enslave the masses. Common folk have little defense against this, other than properly understanding how these things work to purify the system through the voting process-which they suck at doing. It’s sad
  7. Yes, but this assumes that recruitment practices are fair and unbiased from the start. There's a lot of criticism of DEI these days, some of which is legitimate-but one constructive thing it did was bring awareness of unconscious bias to upper and mid level management as it relates recruitment and hiring practices- making things more fair and equitable, and free of discrimination. The Trump Administration is throwing the baby out with the bath water when it comes to DEI. As typical with most conservatives, they are poor at steel-manning alternative perspectives and are blind to value propositions that don't directly serve their self interest, or interest of their tribe.
  8. I think it's more complex than that- extends beyond Trump and into the collective consciousness of Americans. This is quite a bold policy Trump is enacting, not to be taken lightly.
  9. Good point, very nuanced. Question is, what is the method of measuring trans affect on military capability? Also, how do we know if that measure is fair or objective and free of cultural bias? I don't think anyone has seriously been under the impression that the military is a humanist organization. This is often a right wing talking point to avoid addressing the legitimate grievances of minorities and disenfranchised groups-both in the military, and those seeking to enlist.
  10. @Talinn thanks for sharing your experience. It's tough seeing this in our politics. I couch that with saying the US has made significant progress on the subject of trans rights, relative to other less advanced societies. Still many more decades of progress to be made.
  11. This ban doesn't come remotely close to Jim Crow- society is way too advanced to have anything comparable to that. We have to be careful with false equivalency-
  12. Great observation. Yeah-but it's essentially targeting a marginalized group. Lacks empathy for trans, and sets a pretty egregious precedence.
  13. Richard Nixon’s views on homosexuality : Here’s another one: I hesitate to call these low perspectives, as the 1960s were a different time relative to today- but I note that Nixon’s perspective is based on a belief in various absolutes truth claims about gays and their impact on society/culture. He also interprets historical facts/figures to reinforce these truth claims-possibly misattributing causality of homosexualitys role in the collapse of Greek and Roman empires- all in an effort to buttress his worldview.
  14. @Leo Gura excellent work. I’d much rather use the methods of deconstruction to get higher truths about the nature of reality, than to do so for the sake of postmodernist ideology. In summary: Postmodernism without a recognition of the Absolute, is yet another fantasy-which there are an infinite number. Looking forward to Part 3
  15. Even more value in becoming conscious of how the Bible is imaginary.
  16. Hope everyone out in LA is safe: Of course- it wouldn’t be right if President Elect Trump didn’t use this as an opportunity for political gain for himself in some fashion:
  17. Haven’t contemplated the pre modern yet. whats interesting is modern is correct in that there is a “universal” truth, but it’s not at the level of abstract concepts and belief systems. It needs to acknowledge relativity to go beyond this.
  18. Timely quote given the recent episode on Post Modernism. Points out how being stuck in endless philosophical abstractions and caught up in relativity, can get lead one to being out of touch with the realities of human survival.
  19. Modern: It is, despite what I think it is. Post modern: I think it is, therefore it is.
  20. @Vynce .. maybe Kanye is the stable one
  21. Amazing. And if all political pundits and commentators used this study to ground what's included in the news cycle, we'd be a much different place right now.
  22. High perspective: It's good to understand the linguistic maneuvers and style of speech of demagogues-maneuvers that they are not even conscious of. Good analysis of how Trump's style of speech sways the ignorant masses: Feature: non partisan, objective, based in science/empirical analysis, comes from a place of deep study & expertise.
